The day the entire world has been waiting for is finally here. Battlefield 6 is officially here and, without surprise, is shattering records and taking the world by storm. What was previously predicted to be one of, if not the biggest, releases of 2025 is so far proving to be true.
Battlefield 6 Opening Day
With all of the hype and the old Battlefield Vs Call of Duty rivalry sparking since the open beta, the world has been longing for Battlefield 6’s launch day. But how does it compare to the heights of its open beta? Well, it’s certain to say that just on Steam alone, Battlefield 6 is shattering its previous player count records. According to SteamDB, the open beta’s charts reached 521,000, while BF6’s first day saw a climb to 747,440 players.

This makes Battlefield 6 EA’s biggest Steam launch ever, beating Apex Legends’ all-time peak of 624,000. This, of course, is just on Steam alone, so factor in the number of players also on console, and using the EA app.
Speaking of the EA app, the surge in player count was initially so high that it caused the app to crash. To address this, EA is giving those who couldn’t access BF6 through the app 12 Hardware and Career 60-minute boosters. Additionally, players who experienced the outage will receive full access to the current seasonal Battle Pass. Plus, anyone who has the Phantom Edition on the EA app will also get Season 2’s Battle Pass due to this temporary outage.

BF6 Vs CoD
With Battlefield 6 shattering records on merely its first day, it’s currently not looking good for the Call of Duty franchise. With Black Ops 7 releasing in November, all current and recent advertisements have been bombarded with comparisons between the two games, most often in favor of BF6. Ever since Battlefield 6’s announcement, the comparisons, jabs, and references between the two gaming giants have become quite common. From differences in movement, customization, and general outlook on what genre each considers themself in, there has been a lot of talk.

Now with BF6’s launch, if the hype ever dies down slightly, eyes are going to shift heavily on CoD as November approaches. Some say the newest instalment might be one of the most important releases in the game’s history, some even bold enough to say that this might be a “make it or break it” point for CoD.
But what do you think? Is Battlefield 6 shaping up to be everything you have hoped for, or is there still something missing? Let us know and keep an eye on our latest news for future updates.
