There were many major announcements at Xbox’s showcase today. Among them were more details about Gears of War: E-Day, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and Persona 4 & 6. With those announcements came the drop of the brand-new Metro 2039.
Metro 2039
It’s been a while since we’ve finally gotten another entry in the Metro series. Metro Awakening in 2024, but only available for VR, meaning the last traditional Metro game was back in 2019. Fans get a first look at the Fuhrer Hunter, the man who has washed the Metro in lies and propaganda to gain the ultimate power.
But remember, the antagonist was not just Fuhrer, but none other than the first Spartan himself, Hunter. Now adorned in a decorated Novoreich uniform, a fascist perversion of the iconic Spartan armor. His image can be seen all over, his presence looming over the Metro in crumbling posters, flickering propaganda, and towering statues.
In Metro 2039, there’s more than just monsters this time around. And the future of not just the Metro, but everywhere it touches, is at stake, now more than ever before. Metro 2039 is dropping in February 2027, so mark your calendars.
