Happy holidays, WoW players! If you’re excited about the upcoming Midnight expansion for World of Warcraft, do we have the update for you! Get ready to see if your spec or class of choice has risen (or fallen!) in the ranks. 😎
If you’re new here: every Sunday, our Progressive Midnight S1 Tier List updates until the Season starts. This tier list both measures the power of each spec and class, in addition to comparing each other. The end goal is to provide more clarity and transparency for every individual spec’s performance.
As the weeks go by, these rankings will change heavily before the release of the Midnight expansion. So be sure to check back every week for the latest updates!

| (OLD) December 14th Changes | (NEW) December 21st Changes |
Please keep in mind this is a Progressive Tier List of Patch 12.0 Season 1 in Midnight expansion. As such, it WILL change before the season is released. All opinions are subjective and should be taken with a grain of salt. I update this tier list every Sunday at 14:00 CEST live on my stream, before updating the guides on Icy Veins:
Arcane Mage Makes an S-Tier Comeback
With the weekly class changes, quite a few things have changed at the top bracket of our S1 Midnight Progressive list. More specifically Arcane Mage is making its S-tier comeback. After its 3rd consecutive buff in a row, they will now share the top-tier with its sibling spec Frost Mage.
But who do you think is currently the most dominant ranged spec? Does it match with our rankings so far? 👀
Not Much Has Changed in A+… Or Has It?
In the A+ tier, both Fire Mage and Elemental Shaman are taking a minor step back due to other specs currently providing more output. Although no tuning has been done on their behalf, other specs have now become more powerful.
In addition, following their most recent buffs, both Affliction Warlock and Fury Warrior climbed all the way to the A+ tier, pushing them a few spots up.
Marksmanship Hunter and Arms Warrior Shine Through the A-Tier
In the A-tier, we have the return of Marksmanship Hunter, after their 2nd consecutive buff in a row. These changes improve both their single-target and AoE damage done, making them climb a few spots up the ladder. This is one of the specs that holds immense burst potential every 2 minutes thanks to its Trueshot and the returning Algeth’ar Puzzle Box trinket.
At last, after an extensive period of testing, Arms Warrior went from Unsure yet category to the A-tier. As the Slayer version of the specialization covers all the necessary features, we welcome it to the A-tier squad. 🎉
Is All Hope Lost for Windwalker Monk and Feral Druid?
Unfortunately for fans of Windwalker Monk and Feral Druid, they remain two of the worst performing specs, not only numerically, but also design-wise. They’ll be staying in the D-tier for now.
As we progress towards the 4th week of Beta, we hope to see changes for them soon, since they urgently need some help. 🙏
