HoYoverse just ended the Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.8 Special Program, and the update itself is full of new content, Agents, generous rewards, and more! Promeia is finally here, and Billy is getting a pretty cool update!
Here is a full recap of everything announced during the stream.
Version 2.8 “New: Eridan Sunset”
During the stream, the new trailer for version 2.8 was released, and it clearly indicates where the story is heading this time! For now, the proxies, Promeia, and Billy are all on the same team, but a righteous knight must always shoulder the duty of keeping their allies in check!
It turns out, TOPS might not be trustworthy, including Krampus and Promeia. The Proxies are struggling with their growing powers, and some mysteries about Helios might come to light as the team tries to figure out Ramiel’s true plans.
Helios might not have the same meaning for everyone, and the Proxies’ power is getting out of control. On top of that, we might get a first look at our next destination: Celestial Nexus, Roscaelifer.
Who is really Ramiel, or should we say, Remielle Dan? What is her connection ot Helios, and can she save the Proxies? You will have to play through 2.8 to find out!

Version 2.8 Banners and Signal Searches
The new banners will start soon, and here are all the agents you will be able to pull for in the next few weeks! As always, they all come with their Signature W-Engine as well:
- Promeia – The executioner of Krampus Compliance Authority and an S-Rank Ice Anomaly Agent
- She can cast off the restraints from her hands and unleash her terrifying power
- Her attacks can restore set amounts of Corrosive Chill upon hitting enemies
- When other Agents trigger Freeze, Disorder, or Vortex, Promeia will also restore Corrosive Chill
- Upon accumulating enough Corrosive Chill, it will be converted into a point of Trial by Cold
- Some of her skills will consume those Trial by Cold points to trigger Abloom against enemies afflicted with an Attribute Anomaly upon hit
- If you trigger Abloom and hit an enemy, you gain additional Decibels
- Certain skills allow Promeia to throw her cape out to slash enemies. When her cape is out, she can slow walk and automatically trigger Perfect Dodge when being attacked by enemies
- When using her EX Special, she hurls throwing knives and her cape to attack enemies, then enters the Bound Absolution state
- Absolute Order effect activates when using her EX Special
- If attacked while you are using her EX Special, it will make Promeia quickly dart behind the enemy
- Starlight Billy – Also called Silly by fans, our favorite Mech from New Eridu is coming back with a sick upgrade!
- S-Rank Starlight Billy is a Physical Rupture Agent
- His new upgrades give Billy a wider range of attacks
- He can summon his motorcycle when needed to help him out in combat
- Silly increases his Sheer Force according to his Max HP
- All Physical DMG dealt by his attacks is Sheer DMG
- Some of his skills can restore his HP
- If his HP is above a certain threshold, you can press his Special Attack to consume Silly’s HP and summon his motorcycle to ram into enemies
- If attacked during this Special Attack (so when he summons his bike), Silly will automatically block and use his motorcycle to perform an uppercut counterattack
- During the Counterattack, if you have enough energy, press EX Special Attack again to launch a combo attack with his arm cannon and motorcycle
- Gains a DMG buff if certain Agent specialities are in the squad
Of course, each phase also brings back previous Agents! During version 2.8, you can also obtain the following Agents and their signature W-Engines:
- Lucia and her W-Engine during Phase 1
- Orphie & Magus and her W-Engine during Phase 2
New Outfits
After the version 2.8 update, you will be able to obtain Hoshimi Miyabi‘s new outfit, “Dignified Blossom.” This outfit will only be available for purchase in the shop.
New Events in Version 2.8
Several new events will roll out throughout the version:
- Operation: Save Bootopia
- Eous lost a Truth or Dare with its friends and ended up swallowing a chip and malfunctioning
- Eous now believes it’s an employee of Bootopia and decided it must go there
- You will have to go through Marcel Bootopia as Eous. This is a theme park made exclusively for Bangboo employees’ vacations
- Every visit to the park allows Eous to explore with its Bangboo companions and find and save trapped Bangboo
- There are also chests scattered around the park with valuable treasures and items that can be used to boost Eous’ combat power and skills
- Head to your clockout location within the allotted exploration time and head home with all the goodies
- Bootopia is beautiful, but dangerous Ethereals are lurking around. You will have to defeat them with Eous and other Bangboo
- You will obtain Booltergeist by participating in this event
- “Spirit” Artist’s Notebook
- On the other side of New Eridu, the Bane of Evil is keeping watch over the city
- Proxies will act as assistants, helping track down the most vicious wanted criminals
- Ultimate Verdict Trial
- Miss Promeia has a special mission that needs Phaethon’s assistance as well
- Fight alongside the Krampus judge
- Completed themed stages in both Alliance and Special Offensive modes
- A Look into Ridu’s Legends
- Spook Shack has been busy lately, too! Yuzuha and Alice have set up a forum promo booth at Lumina Square
- During the event, you will need to uncover the truth behind paranormal incidents for the visitors at the booth
- Pay attention to subtle clues in their words to reveal the truth
- Advanced Bounty: Area Patrol and Combat Simulation double drop events are coming back
Additional Content
During version 2.8 you can also expect the following additions or changes:
- New enemy with a new Wind Anomaly state
- During this state, inflicting Anomalies will not trigger Disorder, but something new called Vortex
- The Wind Anomaly state will not end after Vortex is triggered
- Under Wind Anomaly, Polarity Disorder, and Polarity Assault can still activate
- Abloom triggers as usual
- Some past enemies will be given Wind weakness or resistance after the update
- New A-Rank Bangboo – Booltergeist
- Floats into the air and fires laser beams from its eyes to attack enemies
- When certain Agent Specialties are in the squad, his attacks have a chance to gain a significant DMG boost
- New Agent avatars, trust events, and dynamic wallpapers
- Shiyu Defense: Critical Node and Deadly Assault will continue to rotate as usual, with new challenges
- Optimizations:
- New Polychrome Guide feature – it will show your progress in obtaining the limited-time Polychromes of this version, and the permanent ones
- Game package management system has been improved. You can now pick if you want just the base game resources or the full resources. For those who have already downloaded the game, you will find a functionality in the settings to auto-delete resources you do not want to keep
- Zenless Zone Zero original soundtrack vinyl record
- Pre-orders start on April 29
- Zenless Zone Zero is coming to Steam soon and will support cross-platform play
Version 2.8 will be full of amazing content and a ton of free rewards for Zenless Zone Zero players! Between the new main story chapter, events, and the new agents finally joining the squad, it feels like the game is heading in the best direction possible!
