HoYoverse has released the official character demo for Norma ahead of her upcoming release in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), set to arrive on July 8, and the demo leans fully into her chaotic mad-scientist identity. Blending clear horror-inspired imagery with the game’s signature humor, the trailer leans heavily into Norma’s identity as Roscaelifer’s mad scientist while giving fan-favorite Eous one of his most chaotic adventures yet.
The demo spends most of its runtime establishing Norma’s eccentric personality before unleashing the explosive arsenal players will soon wield for themselves.
A Horror-Themed Bangboo Fever Dream
The trailer begins with Eous wandering through a nightmare inspired by Frankenstein-style horror. Surrounded by shambling Bangboo creations and bizarre laboratory experiments, the cheerful mascot quickly finds himself trapped in one of Norma’s twisted scientific fantasies.
The unsettling atmosphere is balanced with ZZZ’s trademark comedy, as Eous’ growing panic contrasts directly with Norma’s totally unhinged confidence in her increasingly questionable experiments.
Norma’s Arsenal Takes Center Stage
As the trailer progresses, the focus shifts from horror to action, with Norma revealing the many, many weapons at her disposal. The more destructive side of her takes the stage, with her tearing through countless Ethereals with lethal munitions including such as missile turrets, arm-centered machine guns, and even weaponized Bangboo. The trailer makes her destructible side impossible to miss.
As the trailer winds down, it ends on one last comedy beat, showcasing Eous waking from his apparent nightmare, only for him to discover that the real Norma is waiting, asking Belle to borrow him for a bit. Upon realization, the trailer closes with one final panicked retreat from a terrified Eous.
With Norma’s banner scheduled to arrive next week, the demo offers players their best look at the eccentric researcher, setting the stage for what could be one of ZZZ’s most chaotic character releases.
