Norma Guide and Best Builds
Norma Guide & Best Builds
Welcome to our Norma build guide for Zenless Zone Zero. Norma is a powerful S-Rank Fire Stun Agent who is designed to support both Rupture and Attack agents, increasing their overall DMG, restoring Decibels, and increasing Stun duration. In our guide, we will cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Norma, from building the best Drive Discs and W-Engines to important stat priorities and combos.
Norma's Best W-Engines
Listed below are Norma's best W-Engines. While W-Engines are listed in a priority order, what is best for your Norma can vary slightly depending on your team composition.
Chief Sidekick
The equipper's Impact increases by 30/33/36/39/42, and their DMG ignores 15/17.2/19.5/21.7/24% of the target's Fire RES. When the equipper is not the active character, Energy Regen increases by 0.4/0.46/0.52/0.58/0.64/s. When the equipper deals Fire DMG with an EX Special Attack, all Agents' DMG increases by 12.5/14.4/16.3/18.1/20% for 30s, stacking up to 2 times. Repeated triggers reset the duration. This effect can trigger once per skill. Only one instance of this effect can exist in the same squad.
Roaring Fur-nace
The Daze dealt by the equipper's EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, and Ultimate increases by 28/32.2/36.4/40.6/44.8%.
When using a Chain Attack or Ultimate to deal Fire DMG, the DMG dealt by all squad members increases by 10/11.5/13/14.5/16%, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 30s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately. Triggers once per use of a skill. Only one instance of this effect can exist in the same squad.
Blazing Laurel
Upon launching a Quick Assist or Perfect Assist, the equipper's Impact increases by 25/28.75/32.5/36.25/40% for 8s. When the equipper launches and hits an enemy with a Basic Attack, apply Wilt to the target for 30s, stacking up to 20 times, repeated triggers reset the duration. When any squad member hits an enemy, for every stack of Wilt applied to the target, the CRIT DMG of the Ice DMG and Fire DMG dealt by that attack increases by 1.5/1.72/1.95/2.17/2.4%. Only one instance of this effect can exist in the same squad.
Hellfire Gears
While off-field, the equipper's Energy Regen increases by 0.6/0.75/0.9/1.05/1.2/s.
When using an EX Special Attack, the equipper's Impact is increased by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% for 10s, stacking up to 2 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
Precious Fossilized Core
When the target's HP is no lower than 50%, the equipper inflicts 10/11.5/13/14.5/16% more Daze to the target. When the target's HP is no lower than 75%, this bonus is further increased by 10/11.5/13/14.5/16%.
Best Drive Discs for Norma
King of the Summit
4-Piece Set: When the equipper is a Stun character and uses an EX Special Attack or Chain Attack, increases CRIT DMG of all squad members by 15%, and when the equipper's CRIT Rate is more than or equal to 50%, further increases CRIT DMG by 15%, lasting 15s. Repeated triggers reset the duration. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
2-Piece Recommendations include:
- Woodpecker Electro
- Shockstar Disco
These should be the best 2-piece options for Norma's build. Shockstar Disco is a good option if you want more Daze, but if you miss CRIT Rate on Norma (since her CRIT DMG and Daze both scale on CRIT Rate), Woodpecker will be your best 2-Piece option.
Norma's Stat Priority
When building Norma, CRIT Rate is the most important stat to focus on for her, since her CRIT DMG and Daze scale on her CRIT Rate. Norma should aim for at least 80-100% CRIT Rate in combat whenever possible. Her Core Passive converts excess CRIT Rate above 50% into both CRIT DMG and additional Daze, making CRIT Rate significantly more valuable than it is for most characters. For each 1% of CRIT Rate you gain, you increase CRIT DMG and Daze.
Impact on Disc 6 is also important for Stun agents since it is the stat that will influence the rate at which Daze accumulates on enemies.
Norma also gains additional ATK based on her Sheer Force. Every 1 point of Sheer Force increases her ATK by 1.25, up to a maximum increase of 1,200 ATK.
Norma's Skill Priority
Norma's Core and Special are the most important skills for her, and her Basic skill comes next since Basic Attack: Hat Trick is a huge part of her gameplay.
How to Play Norma
Norma is a Fire Stun Agent who combines a lot of Daze generation with powerful team support. Rather than relying entirely on direct on-field attacks, she uses her Preheated Chamber resource, Top Hat Companion, and En-Nah Turrets to continue contributing even when off-field.
Her gameplay revolves around building and managing Preheated Chamber. This resource gradually accumulates when Norma is in combat and can also be stored through her unique Top Hat Companion mechanic. By holding her Basic Attack while the hat is equipped, Norma throws Top Hat Companion onto the battlefield, allowing it to continue generating and storing Preheated Chamber even after she leaves the field.
Once recalled, Norma immediately gains all of the stored Preheated Chamber, allowing her to quickly hit max resource without requiring a ton of field time. When Preheated Chamber accumulate enough to push Preheated Chamber to 80% or higher when you recall it, it automatically returns to Norma.
Reaching 80% Preheated Chamber unlocks one of Norma's most important mechanics. Her next Basic Attack: Hat Trick Basic Attack can consume 80% Preheated Chamber to replace its normal Quick Assist effect with a Chain Attack. This allows Norma to trigger more Chain Attacks.
Norma's EX Special Attack: En-Nah Barrage is her main skill. Upon activating, she enters the En-Nah Barrage state and deploys two En-Nah Turrets that remain active for an extended duration. These turrets continue attacking enemies automatically, allowing Norma to contribute damage and Daze generation even when another character is on the field.
The turrets adapt their attacks based on the target's state. Against enemies that are not Stunned, they fire Armor-Piercing Warheads that generate significant Daze. Against Stunned enemies, they switch to High-Explosive Warheads that deal increased damage.
En-Nah Barrage also provides some nice team utility if Norma's additional ability Additional Ability: Advantage in Numbers is active. When active, all squad members gain a 20% DMG increase, making it an important ability to maintain whenever possible. Holding the EX Special Attack also consumes additional Energy to extend En-Nah Barrage's duration and generate extra Preheated Chamber.
Norma's Additional Ability also allows her, her creations, or a Combat Bangboo to apply stacks of Tech Divide when they hit an enemy. Each stack increases the target's Stun DMG Multiplier, allowing the entire team to deal more damage during Stun windows. Once the enemy becomes Stunned, Tech Divide also extends the Stun duration by 2 seconds, giving you more time to deal huge DMG.
In practice, Norma's gameplay focuses on maintaining En-Nah Barrage up as much as possible, building Preheated Chamber through both passive generation and Top Hat Companion, applying Tech Divide stacks before enemies become Stunned, and using her unique Chain Attack conversion mechanic. Once the enemy enters Stun, Norma's buffs and debuffs create an extended damage window that allows her teammates to maximize their DMG.
So basically, the rotation looks like this:
- Build Preheated Chamber through passive generation and Top Hat Companion
- Use EX Special Attack to activate En-Nah Barrage and deploy En-Nah Turrets
- Apply Tech Divide stacks and generate more Daze
- Reach 80% Preheated Chamber to convert Hat Trick's Quick Assist into a Chain Attack
- Trigger Stuns and take advantage of the extended, amplified Stun window
- Swap to your main damage dealer to smash it all out
Norma's Best Mindscapes
Norma's best Mindscapes to invest in would be her M1 and M2. Her M1 increases the Stun window even longer and adds an All Attribute RES Shred for the team. Her M2 increases the Stun DMG multiplier from Tech Divide and grants 25 energy when she uses her Basic Attack.
Her M6 is huge, but it is a heavy investment. However, if you want to go that far it basically is where she transitions from "supportive Stun unit" into "supportive Stun unit that also deals serious damage."
If you have to choose between her M1 and her W-Engine, we recommend you go for the W-Engine first because it directly boosts her Daze, team support, and En-Nah Barrage uptime.
