Blizzard released the WoW Forever Launch Overview video yesterday. The video gives a nice, detailed explanation of what’s coming once the game launches in just a few hours.
Between all the gameplay footage seen in the video, however, some people have noticed two race/class combos that are not currently available in WoW Forever! Did Blizzard sneak in a preview of what’s to come in the Future? Let’s take a look!
Two New Race/Class Combinations Already In The Plans
If you look at the WoW Forever Roadmap, the original one announced shortly after BlizzCon had teased two new race/class combos. This has since been redacted from the roadmap, but it is interesting nonetheless.
Night Elf Shaman
At around 16:15, in the Profession Overview section, you can see Night Elf wearing the Five Thunders, the Shaman Tier 0.5 set.
Of course, this could be a Hunter with the set transmogged. However, that variant of the Shaman tier is class-exclusive, obtained from a questline. A few seconds later, the Night Elf starts running and can be seen clearly wielding a Two-Handed Mace, a weapon type Hunters cannot use.
Tauren Mage
At around 28:45, in the Barrow Deeps Raid overview section, a Tauren wearing full Cloth gear (and even matching the Orc Mage right next to him) can be seen casting a spell that looks like a Mage’s
Frostbolt.
Now, this could be a Shaman, as it is not uncommon for caster specs to wear Cloth in Classic WoW. They do have a few Frost offensive spells, like
Frost Shock. However, none of those spells quite match Frostbolt in appearance and cast times. The Tauren can be seen clearly casting a spell that takes a good two seconds to cast.
NPCs With New Race/Class Combos in WoW Forever
Throughout the WoW Forever Beta, players have noticed other NPCs that could have a class/combo not available in Forever. This is not exactly strong evidence for new combos, but it’s worth keeping an eye on them!
- Magus Olvek is a new Kirin Tor-allied Dwarf Mage that can be found in Dalaran. He is one of the Alliance quest givers for the City of Dalaran dungeon.
- Olana Brighthoof is a Tauren NPC with the title “Sun Priest of An’she”, found in Mulgore. Although Forever follows a different timeline from the main World of Warcraft game, in Retail WoW, both Tauren Priests and Paladins revere An’she as the Sun God that gives them the ability to channel the Light.
- Boarton Shadetotem is a Tauren Rogue? (Yes, the ? is in his title) Trainer you can find in Thunder Bluff. This NPC is not new to Forever; He was originally added in Season of Discovery, and could be just a leftover.
