Komano Manato’s reveal caused a major stir on social media. Players expected a new male S-Rank Agent, but he turned out o be A-Rank. But does that mean he will be unplayable?
Honestly, his kit looks pretty bad. It’s like they took Yidhari’s kit and nerfed it for an A-Rank. Manato is a Rupture DPS with an HP manipulation mechanic and a limited-time Heat state, which empowers his attacks.
He generally has low skill multipliers. His main source of damage is his defensive Assist Follow-Up and the Heat state, which acts as a big stat steroid.
Big Words, Small Damage?
First, let’s examine his Core Passive. Just like Yidhari’s, he gains Sheer Force based on his Max HP, and his attacks will be considered Sheer damage. Like Lucia, he gains Flame points when using various attacks in his kit.
When Flame hits 100 points, Manato enters the Ignited state until Heat runs out. During this state, his attacks are enhanced, he gains 300 Sheer Force, and his Crit damage increases by 20%.
His Basic Attack allows him to deplete his HP to gain buffs. When used in the Ignited state and if Komano’s HP is above 30%, he consumes 2.5% of his Max HP to increase his Crit damage by 60%. This will also increase his Energy Regeneration by 300%.
His Special Attack triggers the Ignited state. He enters a charging state, burning up to 10% of his Max HP and restoring 100 Flame points. At the end of the charge, he unleashes his EX Special Skill, dealing damage and recovering HP.
Used while Ignited, Komano does a plunging slash, dealing massive Fire damage and recovering a higher percentage of HP.
His Ultimate deals Fire damage and… that’s pretty much it.
Strangely, his main damage still comes from his Follow-up Assist. He performs multiple slashes, dealing Fire damage. You can press it repeatedly to continue slashing enemies. While slashing, if his HP stays above 30%, Komano Manato will consume 5% of his Max HP to increase his Crit damage by 60% and his Energy regeneration by 300%.
A Disappointing Release?
Judging by how players reacted on social media, it’s clear they had high expectations for Komano Manato. And those expectations weren’t met!
For now, his best synergy is with Lighter and Orphie, and probably Lucia, since she’s a strong Rupture DPS support. But his Additional Ability really limits team comps. It only activates if Komano is paired with another Rupture or Fire character in the squad. When his HP drops, it boosts the whole squad’s Crit damage by 20% for 30 seconds.

His animations are honestly pretty cool, so it’s a real shame his numbers are this bad. Players are upset about his kit, but there’s still some hope before Beta ends.
