It’s almost time! We’re one/two days away from the patch launch! Blizzard posted the final class tuning changes, and it’s fair to say they changed pretty much everything from the old tier lists. It’s time to take a look at the class balance in Mythic+ we’ll be seeing on patch launch, with some dramatic changes like the worst spec of this patch suddenly coming almost to the very top!
The DPS Changes
First things first, the new No.1! Assassination digs out of the last spot in the A+ tier straight to the top! Next up we have the most stable spec of the last many, many months, as Arcane sticks around at No.2 after a long time sitting in the top in Season 2 as well. Then we have the other giant change from the final notes, as a spec that has been either last or very close to the bottom for most of the season is finally coming into its own. Frost Mage claims the No.3 spot, and it was already doing quite well in A+ last time we checked, now sitting in the final S-tier slot. Marksmanship drops down from its No.2 spot a whole lot, a whole two tiers.
We then have a new category, “Best-Candidates”, sitting above A+. There’s a big bunch of specs here, starting with Subtlety, which makes a big jump up from near the bottom. Frost DK is still doing fine, despite falling out of the No.1 spot. Destruction soars past both its fellow Warlocks and Unholy claws its way back as well, as its rework is looking better and better.

And here’s Petko himself explaining it all in detail:
That’s it for the launch state of the specs! There’s certainly going to be a big tuning pass before Season 3 and the raid goes live, so we’ll see how it all ends up for the start of the race and season.
