Ask ten Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) players what they want from Version 3.1, and you’ll probably get ten completely different answers. Spend a few minutes browsing Reddit or social media, and it becomes pretty clear that the community isn’t counting down to the Special Program for the same reason. Some players are there for the story, others only care about banners, and plenty are hoping HoYoverse has a few anniversary surprises tucked away that nobody sees coming.
Some Players Just Want More Story
For one part of the community, Version 3.1 is all about where the story goes next. 3.0 has been seen as a strong return to form for the ZZZ story for much of the community. The teaser alone has already put Remielle and the overarching Rosacelifer storyline front and center. After months of speculation, plenty of players simply want answers. Who exactly is Remielle, someone who is suppose to be long dead in the lore? What’s really going on behind the scenes? What is an “Enchainer”? The big questions the narrative has yet to answer.
For lore-focused players, the banners are important but secondary. These players are tuning in because they want to know where ZZZ’s story is going next. 3.0 left off on a major cliffhanger so these players are hungry for information.
Others Are Already Looking at the Banners
Then there’s the other half of the community. For these players, the story can wait. The real excitement starts the moment the Version 3.1 banners are revealed.
With Remielle Dan and Sigrid debuting as the newest limited characters in 3.1, the excitement is already high. But there are more banner-related questions the community is exciting for. Will Dialyn rerun? Is Yuzuha coming back? There have even been recent rumors circling the community of a possible Evelyn and Aria rerun duo coming with the update. The questions just keep piling up, and until HoYoverse answers them in the upcoming livestream, plenty of players aren’t making any big decisions with their Polychrome. Honestly, for good reason.
And Then There Are the Anniversary Dreamers
Of course, anniversaries always come with one extra layer of excitement. Some players aren’t thinking about Remielle or reruns at all. They’re hoping HoYoverse goes bigger than they ever have in general with the festivities. More rewards. More free pulls. A surprise announcement nobody saw coming. A potential glimpse into the future of 3.x. Perhaps even a shocking collab?
Whether any of that actually happens is anyone’s guess, but that’s part of what makes anniversary livestreams different from every other Special Program. Everyone shows up hoping for something completely different.
Version 3.1 is one of those rare updates where the community is united in its excitement, but divided on what they’re actually excited for. Whatever HoYoverse reveals, there’s a good chance somebody’s wish list is about to come true.
