The Necromancer class in Diablo 4 has access to 20 different skills, each with an Enhancement and up to two Upgrades that improve them in a variety of ways.
The following section provides an overview of all Necromancer active skills, enhancements, and upgrades.
Basic Skills are free-to-cast skills whose primary purpose is to generate the Necromancer’s two main resources – Essence and Corpses, in order to be able to use more powerful skills. Some builds rely on the synergy with buffs and debuffs from Basic Skills enchancements or upgrades, which can be crucial, even if resource generation is not needed.

Description
Tear the flesh from an enemy, dealing 150% damage per second and forming a usable Corpse with the flesh every 1 second.
Core Skills are among the most commonly used Necromancer skills in nearly every build and typically serve as the primary source of damage. They have no cooldown, but they consume Essence to cast. The one exception is Bone Spirit, which carries both Core and Macabre tags and features a cooldown.
Core Skills are unlocked with just one skill point spent in the skill tree.

Description
Unleash concentrated blight that deals 40% damage and leaves behind a defiled area, dealing 160% damage over 6 seconds.
Sever deals 2% increased damage for each Minion you have upon Cast and spawns a Corpse at its end point.

Description
Draw blood from enemies, dealing 20% damage, and expel a blood nova, dealing 80% damage. Blood Surge’s nova damage is increased by x5% per enemy drained, up to x50%.
If an enemy is damaged by Blood Surge’s Nova, then gain 1 stack of Overwhelming Blood. If you have 5 stacks of Overwhelming Blood, your next Blood Surge Overpowers.
While Fortified, Blood Surge deals 65% increased damage.

Description
Throw a blood lance that lingers in enemies for 3 seconds, dealing 130% damage to the enemy and all other lanced targets. If Blood Lance hits a lanced enemy, it deals 100%[x] increased damage and applies the lanced effect to another surrounding enemy.
Bone Spear has 5% more Critical Strike Chance. If its main projectile Critically Strikes, 2 more Bone Shards form upon expiration and you gain 10% Maximum Essence for 5 seconds.
Corpse Explosion becomes a Darkness Skill and, Instead of exploding, Corpse Explosion releases a vile miasma dealing 145% Shadow Damage over 6 seconds.
Blood Mist is now a Mobility Skill that grants 30% Movement Speed, spawning a Corpse every second and applying Vulnerable for 5 seconds to enemies it passes through.
You gain 15% Critical Strike Chance and 10% Critical Strike Damage for 5 seconds after Blood Mist ends.
Bone Prison

Description
Unearth a prison of bone with {#} Life that surrounds the target area for 6 seconds. Friendly players and Minions can freely pass through Bone Prison walls.
Reduce your active cooldowns by 0.5 seconds for each enemy trapped by Bone Prison, up to 5 seconds.
Curse Skills
Curses from this category primarily reduce enemy damage output while serving as a condition for other mechanics to increase damage dealt to Cursed enemies. Some Curse upgrades are so powerful that they form class-wide build mechanics on their own.
Curse Skills are unlocked with 11 points spent in the skill tree.

Description
Curse the target area. Enemies afflicted by Iron Maiden take 30% damage each time they deal direct damage. Lasts 10 seconds.
Iron Maiden no longer costs Essence. Instead, gain 5 Essence for each enemy Cursed. Does not work with enemies who are already cursed with Iron Maiden.
Consume all of your Essence to conjure a spirit of bone that seeks enemies. Upon reaching an enemy, the spirit explodes, dealing 80% damage to the target and all surrounding enemies. Damage is increased by x4% for each point of Essence spent casting Bone Spirit.
After Bone Spirit hits an enemy, you generate 30% of your Maximum Essence over the next 4 seconds.
Ultimate Skills
Ultimate Skills are powerful skills with a long cooldown and no Essence cost. They must be built around to be effective, and only one can be chosen at a time.
Ultimate Skills are unlocked with 23 points spent in the skill tree.

Description
Call forth the deep buried dead. Volatile undead emerge over the next 7 seconds that explode when around enemies, dealing 120% damage. Volatile Skeleton explosions Stun enemies for 2 seconds.
Rank 5 Bonus
Army of the Dead’s damage is increased by 40% of your Skeleton Mage and Golem Damage bonuses, up to 200%.
Your Critical Strike Chance is increased by 20%[+] while Bone Storm is active.

Description
For 8 seconds, you consume surrounding enemies, dealing 65% x [Damage] Corrupting damage per second. Every 0.25 seconds of this duration, you absorb the souls of up to 3 enemies, gaining 2 Essence. You absorb 3 souls at a time from Bosses.
Rank 5 Bonus
Every 30 souls consumed refills 1 of your Healing Potions with the lifeblood of your tortured victims.
Soulrift extracts twice the souls from enemies and applies Vulnerable to them for 3 seconds. After it ends, all surrounding enemies are Feared and Slowed by 85% for 5 seconds.
Every soul absorbed increases your damage by 0.1%, up to 15%. This bonus persists for 5 seconds after Soulrift ends.
Dismount Skill
While mounted, the Necromancer has access to a unique Dismount Skill that causes them to jump off the mount, slam the ground, and create a frontal cone of magic bones, slightly damaging enemies in the area. Players struck by enemies are automatically dismounted.
