News Writers for a New Project

Hiring a News Writer for a New Project

We're looking for a news writer to help us build a news section from scratch.

This position doesn't include coverage of one specific game. We need a versatile writer who can move between titles, write about hardware when there is something worth writing about, and not get stuck waiting for assignments. The key person for this position is someone who can write any news for any game whether it be triple A or indie games, but also has knowledge about gaming peripherals.

What You Can Expect

This is a paid position. You will work alongside an editorial team that has been in gaming media for more than 15 years. The feedback you get here will help you become a better writer. If you are serious about your writing career, this is one of the better places to do that!

Getting in at the start also means you have input on how the section runs day to day.

What We Expect

  • Multiple articles per day. This is the part most applicants underestimate. If a few pieces a week sound like a lot to you, this role will not work.
  • Best case, this is your main job. The output we need is hard to keep up with on the side.
  • Journalism background and WordPress experience are a big plus.
  • You can cover more than one game. The specific titles are still being decided, so we want a writer who can adapt.
  • Strong written English. Native is ideal, but not required.
  • You take feedback from editors and apply it right away.
  • You are comfortable with using Discord, Notion, and WordPress on a daily basis and attending weekly team syncs.
  • You do not use AI to produce the content of your article.

How to Apply

Send your application with around 500 words, written like a gaming news piece, to [email protected]. The sample can cover any game you want. Applications without a sample will not be considered.

We get more applications than we can reply to, so we only get back to the candidate we want to move forward with.
