Enhancement Shaman need help

Hello, 

 

Any chance you can provide logs on a variety of fights instead of just one? You are obviously a very good player already and need only very minor refinements. It's a bit hard to catch these fine details on a fight like twins because of movement/avoiding fire, etc. Also, providing a variety of fights will enable the community to provide more comprehensive feedback. 

 

Observations

• I can see that your "basics" are extremely solid. Double potting, use of defensive CDs, good use of sprint, healing tonics,windwalk totem, etc
• CD usage is almost flawless.
• Flame shock uptime wasn't 100%. A minor point, but can still work on this. 

Queries

• You save ascendance for the 2nd Fire elemental. Could I check if you do this all the time, or only for this fight (cos you anticipated you only get to use ascendance twice in this fight) 
• You recasted searing totem before it's 1 min duration was up. Could I check if this was during movement and you have nothing else to cast? 
• It's a bit hard for me to catch these via the logs. How are you using Fire Nova and unleash elements in terms of priority? What spells would you forgo to use these two spells?

Yes, i assumed that i'm only able to use Ascendance twice for this fight. 

Made a few mistake on recasting Searing Totem too early, but it was usually during movement.

I'm using Fire Nova when ever all of my skills are on CD. I use unleash elements off CD, but sometimes time it with Flame Shock and Fire Nova.

In a two target fight, using Fire Nova as your filler spell if you have nothing else to cast is great. However, I would not suggest using unleash elements on CD if you did not talent into unleashed fury. The DPET for unleash elements puts it on second last priority, just above frost shock. 

 

It is great that you are saving unleash elements for use with flame shock. Using unleash elements with fire nova for three targets is good, but I don't think using it on two targets is a significant gain.

Have been using unleash elements off CD. I guess thats a minor DPS loss? I've always thought that the extra 60% att speed plays a huge role.

Hello,

I can share the thinking process. To determine the priority of spells to cast, we look at something called damage per execute time. The amount of damage you get for the time taken to execute it. If you get a lot of damage out of an ability that has a short cast time, it's considered a 'value for money' ability that has a high priority

For unleash elements, it does no damage. If you add up the buff it gives to fire spell and auto attack, it's still lesser than storm strike and lava lash and searing totem. But it's close though. Which is why it's only a minor dps loss.

Alright, so it's only valuable to cast Unleash Elements if you take Unleash Fury.

Just need to slightly tune my rotation.

But Unleash Elements also increases attack speed by 60%. Still not worth using it unless to empower Flame Shock or Fire Nova?

Its still worth using. With unleashed fury its 2nd prio, behind keeping searing totem up. Without unleashed fury its drops below stormstrike and lava lash.

Three things I saw. You seem to have a low number of lightning bolts. Are you casting them once you hit 5 stacks, or using other things first. 

Second please correct me if i am wrong but when i looked at your armory you have you high ilvl weapon in your offhand slot instead of main hand slot. I thought you want to have the better weapon in main hand for the gain from melee and storm strike. 

Three you have a lot of frost shocks. Are you using it over any other spell at times. I can never seem to get many Frost shocks off as high priority abilities always seem to be up to prevent its use. That could just be me.

These are just things that make me think are these areas of improvement, but logs dont tell the whole story.
