ENH DPS Am I doing alright?

Hi guys, new here and wanted to know if it looks like I'm doing things right. Following the priority that the the site has to the best of my ability, I'm currently doing 150k DPS on Malkorok. I have a breakdown by ability in my picture as I didn't run a WoL as I was in Flex at the time.

Looks like, yeah.  I could pick it apart with logs, but the basic breakdown of damage looks appropriate for the gear you have, and your overall dps is pretty solid for your gear as well.  You might be spending too much time casting Lightning Bolt (hard to tell from one parse), especially if you're using Ancestral Swiftness; remember that you don't get white hits while casting.  I generally don't cast it unless I have 3+ stacks of MW or nothing is coming off CD in the next few seconds; I recommend setting up something to track stacks 3 and 4 of MW.  If I remember, tomorrow I'll dump my weakaura strings for the spell alerts I use, otherwise it won't get done until Monday.

 

Try to replace those trinkets as soon as possible, but you probably knew that.  I also assume you switched glyphs for Spoils, and were using Glyph of Lightning Shield for Malkorok.  Otherwise, looks good, and may the loot rolls be in your favor!

I hear a lot of people talk about WeakAuras but I've never actually used it, how helpful is it? Have been monitoring buffs/debuffs pretty well for Maelstrom but do make mistakes every once in awhile. My other issue is since getting the 2-piece I've had a hard time tracking when it Unleashes my Flametongue so I know to FS rather than ES. 

 

I am also desperately trying to get new trinkets and will have used all 3 Seals from this week on LFR, Flex, and Normal Sha for Assurance. One thing I've been debating is if it's worth it to farm the 50k Timeless Coins for the 535 Trinket.

Expertise is way to high. it should be 7.5.

are you keeping your fire totem up? the damage look a bit low.

i would suggest picking up Echo of the Elements only because you dont have to keep popping the other talents. ( but that just me i hate poping stuff)

i know your gemming for Expertise but you should be using Adept Vermilion Onyx your losing all most 1 k agi and that a lot of crit and attack power your losing. Shadowleather Leg Armor is what you should be using for your legs.

I know my Expertise is too high, I was just being lazy and going with Ask Mr. Robot and following it's directions. Bracer enchant is coming tomorrow when my buddy logs on. Leg enchant I was waiting til I had at least a SoO LFR legpiece in the slot. All good advice and stuff I was aware of just hadn't fixed yet.

 

Is EotE better at lower gear levels? As in the guide it said that both AS and EM were better single target talent choices. 

 

Professions will be remedied once I get the currency to just powerlevel them.

yes they are slightly better for dps. but they both have a 1.5 min cool down for a bit of burst damage. i like talent that up my dps all the time not just in a short burst and then a long cool down. but that just me. other then that your doing fine

To follow on regarding WeakAuras and MW, I used to use WA to track that.

If I were to list the "top 5 essential raid addons", WeakAuras2 would be third on the list (DBM/BigWigs is 4th). It's absolutely fantastic and once you start using it, WoW will never really be the same without it.

 

If you install the addon, you can import auras from other players by copying a set of characters. (New -> Import -> paste text -> Done). Here is the text that will import the aura I used to track whether I had 3 stacks or not;

Yeah, I didn't mention the expertise/enchant/etc. stuff because it's quite clear you're intending to replace all that gear anyway.  I will, however, echo Clayton's point about agility being greater than secondaries at your gear level; you can get Ask Mr Robot to gem this way for you by setting the weight of Agility to just over twice the weight of your highest (non-hit/exp) secondary stat.  On the other hand, by the time you get to content where this matters, you will have hit where they break even, so... I wouldn't bother.  Maxing a profession, any profession, is a much better use of your funds/time than fiddling with your gems beyond dropping some expertise.

 

The 535 agility trinket from Timeless Isle is actually pretty solid.  If you have problems dealing with all the hit from your Shado-pan trinket (or really bored), go for it, but we're spoiled for good raid trinkets right now, and those will be better.

 

You are correct in that EM and AS are stronger single-target than EotE, which is stronger for AoE.  If you remember to make use of your talents, they're all good and pretty well balanced to each other, but if you're still learning the spec there's something to be said for taking the more passive ones even if they're weaker for the job.  However, it looks like you've got a pretty solid grip on it, so that shouldn't be a concern.  You also don't have an Assurance of Consequence right now, which means you can perfectly sync every other Elemental Mastery with Ascendance.  (Once you get one, talent choice gets a whole lot more complicated, and I have unfortunately had to put my elaborate testing of that on hold until the end of the month for graduate work.  Oh, the joys of academia.)

 

Unless my weekend plans change (again) in the next few hours, I'll make a post about weakauras for Enhancement.

The 535 agility trinket from Timeless Isle is actually pretty solid.  If you have problems dealing with all the hit from your Shado-pan trinket (or really bored), go for it, but we're spoiled for good raid trinkets right now, and those will be better.

I'd actually replace the Sigil for the 535 isle trinket, over the Shado.  The Sigil has very very little value; I'd even use the Shado over it at a 574 ilvl.

 

Otherwise, I concur.  Your Enh layout looks a lot better than mine...

So without Assurance it sounds like EM is a better talent choice because it'll sync up with my cooldowns better. I'm pretty good at keeping my cooldowns on CD so fairly certain I can play optimally. I'll be toying around with WeakAuras tomorrow to get a feel of it. I'm also going to start farming Timeless Coins as I know my luck with trinkets (depressing). Thanks a lot for all the help guys!
