SPriest - situational questions

4 posts in this topic

Dear fellow SPriest,

i've some questions for specific situations and the "priority list" of abilites.

Situation 1:

During uptime of Devouring Plague Mind blast gets ready (either through proc of DI or regular). Does it increase or decrease the damage if u interrupt mindflay with insanity talent to cast Mind Blast?

Situation 2:

Devouring Plague gets ready with a remaining uptime of the otherdots < 7.5 seconds.Does it increase or decrease the damage if u reset the other dots before casting Devouring Plague? To concretize, do you wait untill u redot with casting Devouring Plague?

Situation 3:

Heavy movement with insanity talent. 3rd orb and Devouring Plague gets ready but you have to move > 8 seconds that Mind Blast will become ready. Do you cast Devouring Plague and accept that there is no time for Insanity increased mind flay or do you save the 3 orbs and wait with Mind Blast untill casted Devouring Plague?

Situation 4:

Mind Blast gets ready and you would get the 3. orb with, at the same time when the other dots expire. Would u refresh the dots exactly to the time, Mind Blast would get ready?

One last Question:

Why is Shadowword Death in priority List of the guide behind Mind Blast?

Thanks for your opinions

Best Regards

1. never hardcast during insanity, have an addon like gnosis to show you your channeled spell ticks and do the instant MB after teh second tick as long as the gcd wont prevent you from starting at least one more insanity

2. you can delay the cast of DP for up to 6 seconds

3. use the DP asap, but this should be very rare. i cant think of any fight aside from ToES heart phase on garrosh where you would move for over 8 seconds

i do sometimes save DP longer for fight priorities like empowered whirl adds on garrosh

4. see #2 and remember, keeping MB on CD is your main job

Flay: Insanity is your number one priority during DP.  Even if MB comes up.

It's going to be specific thresholds of damage, depending on the exact duration.  If they were at least 6 seconds, I'd let them fall and reapply after Insanitys.  If they were 3 seconds or less, I'd refresh then spend DP and Insanity.

Third situation, I'm completely unsure.  I'd like to think that you should DP and then MF single or double ticks, equal to the duration of your GCD rounding to the next tick, between movement.  No movement is so heavy and defined that you must move for more than 4 seconds.  If your movement is minimal in time, hold it.  If your movement can be sporatic, try to get ticks in.

Depends on the situation.  Nothing falls exactly together.  If those DoTs are sub 3 seconds before MB, refresh the dots and roll right into a MB.  If MB is up at 3 seconds left on your DoTs, MB then refresh.  Because of that 3 second flexible window, you'll never have a situation where you had to definitely choose.

I'm not sure why that priority is that way.  Death does more damage, but only the first one generates an Orb.
