Catch Up With FFXIV Patch 7.5 91st PLL Before Friday!

Lyle's Avatar by Lyle

Well met, fellow Warriors of Light! Things are really starting to heat up for FFXIV right now! The Letter from the Producer LIVE for Part 2 of Patch 7.5 is happening this Friday, April 17. The North American Fan Festival in Anaheim, California, is taking place a week later on Friday, April 24. I’d say it’s the perfect time to brush up on last month’s Live Letter!

The Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XCI covered part 1 of what to expect for Patch 7.5. As the Live Letter is in Japanese audio only, we are eternally grateful to Miuna, Iluna Minori, and the fan translation team for their great work over at the r/FFXIV Discord!

When Should We Expect Patch 7.5 to Release?

Patch 7.5 Trail to the Heavens is scheduled to release on Tuesday, April 28. While we aren’t expecting delays to the patch release, we’ll have confirmation when the Part 2 Live Letter hits this Friday. However, we do know that the Main Scenario Quest has been split in two and will be released separately throughout the year.

Based on the upcoming schedule shown below, we’re looking at Patch 7.56 for the second half of MSQ in Early September. In addition, our three 2026 Fan Fests are listed in the schedule as well.

What is Releasing in Patch 7.5?

As always with Live Letters, there is a lot to go over. Feel free to jump to the section you’re most excited about!

Main Scenario Quests, Allied Society Wrap-Up, Hildibrand, and Tacos

We’ve got a slew of new quests to take a look at, including the continuation to the MSQ, wrap up quests to the Allied Societies in Dawntrail, our beloved Hildibrand, and a new Custom Delivery request!

The focus of the Main Scenario Quests will be shifting back to the Warrior of Light’s story. What could the patch’s name of Trail to the Heavens mean for our WoL’s journey? Find out if your guess is correct when we hear more during Fan Fest this month!

As is typical with MSQ, we have a new dungeon to crawl through. Introducing The Clyteum, seemingly located in Garlemald. We’ll also get a new trial where you may challenge Enuo in both Normal and Extreme difficulties.

I’m sure you have all kept up with your Allied Society quest lines and it is finally time to get some Capstone Quests! I’m looking forward to seeing how the stories of the Pelupelu, Mamool Ja, and Yok Huy tie in together.

We’re also getting more Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures. Make sure to catch up so that you can experience the thrill (and possibly bewilderment) alongside us!

Our next Custom Delivery recipient is ready to make a request you wouldn’t dare refuse. How could you possibly deny sweet Tiisol Ja? Don’t risk never having another of Aunt Tii’s tacos ever again!

Duty Support, New Alliance, Unreal, Hints for the Ultimate

Aside from the Main Scenario Quest duties, we have plenty of other adventures to look forward to in this patch. We’ve got more dungeons with Duty Support, the third and final new Alliance Raid for this expansion, the start of the next Unreal Trial, and finally some crumbs for the Ultimate.

The Dusk Vigil and Shisui of the Violet Tides are going to be eligible for Duty Support. They have acknowledged the feedback that mechanics may have been nerfed too hard as with previous dungeon redesigns. However, it was necessary in order to ensure that duty support NPCs functioned properly. That being said, they’re being careful not to overdo it with oversimplifying mechanics and gimmicks.

The new Alliance Raid, Windurst: The Third Walk, will be available. Final Fantasy XI players will get to enjoy a veritable feast of references through familiar characters and locations. There was also the suggestion that there may be new music! Keep your eyes and ears open!

With the update to the patch’s special site today, we got a glimpse at what is likely one of the boss fights. Can you recognize who this character is? Do you think we’ll survive the encounter?

The next Unreal Trial will be coming so it’s time to say goodbye to Tsukuyomi’s Pain and hello to Shinryu’s Domain. Be ready to weather the elements and watch your step while crossing the dragon’s back!

Unfortunately, we don’t have too many hints on the upcoming Ultimate Raid. The name of the ultimate still eludes us so we’ll have to settle with learning that the voice recordings for it are complete. Also, we have confirmation that it’ll release sometime before the final patch of 7.5x. We don’t have to wait long for more details at Fan Fest next week!

Fight Club is Now in the Library

In terms of general PvP updates, we’re looking at:

Speaking of the new arena, take a look below at the Archeia Harmonias! It looks like there will be plenty of spots to break line of sight. Hopefully you won’t be reprimanded for causing a ruckus in the library! Stay tuned for more details on the particular arena mechanics in the next Live Letter.

Completed Phantom Weapons, North Horn, and a New Forked Tower

The final stage of the Phantom Weapons will soon be available! I hope you were able to survive the brutal Crystal Paste grind. A great deal of effort went into these weapon models and it certainly shows! We’re expecting to see more of the final models in the next Live Letter.

We’re also finally getting the next field exploration instance for the Occult Crescent, the North Horn. Get excited for new monsters, new critical encounters, and new FATEs!

Furthermore, the maximum knowledge level has been increased to 40 and we also got some hints on the new phantom jobs! I wonder what new skills the Freelancer job will have access to after maxing out these new jobs?

Gather some friends and be ready to challenge the new Forked Tower: Magic, available in Normal and Extreme difficulties. While the duty can hold up to 48 players, the normal difficulty was designed so that a small number of players can still complete it!

To enter the Forked Tower in Normal difficulty,

  • No ciphers are required
  • Standing on the aetherial node is enough to register for the duty
  • If there are more than 48 players registered, players are selected at random
  • You’ll be given priority for entry next time if you were not selected

The Extreme difficulty has special entry circumstances, likely in response to feedback for the Forked Tower duty in the South Horn.

  • No ciphers are required
  • Accessed from extreme-mode-only instances, which are separate from the normal instances
  • Extreme instances can be entered by alliances of 12 or more players in 3 or more parties
  • The Forked Tower is immediately accessible when entering an extreme instance

While the North Horn will have its own set of gear and upgrades, you can get a head start by upgrading your South Horn gear to skip certain steps. Expect details on the rewards with the upcoming Live Letter this Friday!

Gotta Catch ‘Em All! Beastmaster!

Do you love solo content? Well I have good news! A new limited job will be joining the fray, the Beastmaster! Similar to Blue Mage, it is a combat job with a lower level cap than most other jobs. The Beastmaster is a Melee DPS with an initial level cap of 50 that fights with a one-handed axe and shield.

To get started on your journey collecting beasties as a not-quite zoologist, you’ll have to satisfying the following unlock requirements:

  • Have a Disciple of War or Magic at level 50 or above
  • Have completed the 2.0 Main Scenario Quest
  • Have Dawntrail registered to your account

On release, at some point in 7.5x, you’ll be able to capture 50 different beasts. We can expect to be able to expand our menagerie later down the line with more updates. Designed so that you can capture them all solo, take your time re-exploring locations you may not have visited in a long time. You can even show off your tamed beasts and have them walk along beside you!

To help you keep track, consult your bestiary and read up on what attacks or abilities they have at their disposal. Learn everything you need to know about their size, beast type, auto-attack element, available attacks, and their capture location!

You’ll want to pay close attention to the job quests because they will run you through the unique battle system to the Beastmaster. You can have up to three beasts accompany you in battle, and your own actions will change depending on the chosen beasts. There’s bound to be more and we’re expecting a demo in the upcoming Live Letter!

The Crucible of the Unbroken is unique extra content made specifically for the Beastmaster. You’ll be able to complete it for rewards and they’re looking into a way to integrate rankings so that you may challenge others for the best score.

As a reminder, the Beastmaster will not be available right at Patch 7.5 launch and will instead be implemented later in 7.5x. Unfortunately, that also means the promised Blue Mage changes will not be happening this expansion.

Ocean Fishing, Cosmic Exploration, and Gold Saucer

Calling all Ocean Fishers, we’ve got a new route on the way! This time, we’re headed to Thavnair. I wonder what kinds of new fish might live around there?

If you’re also an avid crafter, you’re probably just as excited for the next star we’ll be industrializing during our Cosmic Exploration. Take a gander at the lush trees and green fields of our next destination: Auxesia.

Though we don’t have concrete details, a Gold Saucer update is on its way in 7.5x. For now, it’s just an announcement that it will be some sort of multiplayer content.

Housing Limits Expanded, Armoire Update

If you’re someone who has a basement completely full of the event Valentione cakes, you’ll be ecstatic to learn that they’re increasing placement limits for both indoor and outdoor furnishings. Accordingly, the storerooms will have its limit increased as well. Check out the following screenshot to see the new capacities.

Furthermore, they’re also introducing a setting that will allow you to reduce players shown and instead prioritize furniture displays. Alternatively, you may choose to simply prioritize those closest to your character.

Though it won’t be in this update, they’re getting close to implementing the interior size change. Slated to be the following update to housing, you’ll be able to have a large interior despite owning a small house, for example. It’s what’s on the inside that counts!

They’re also looking into changing the housing UI because they feel like it limits most players in their creativity. Perhaps floating furniture won’t be so painful to achieve one day. More details to come in the future!

Following the loosened glamour restrictions, the armoire is also getting a glow-up. You’ll be able to store all job-specific gear as well as all dungeon gear introduced in 7.x. Gradually, older dungeon gear will included as well.

The Great Inventory Clean Up of Patch 7.5: Dye Consolidation

If your retainer is just a glorified dye storage mule, you’ll hear their cry of joy when you learn about the dye consolidation update. The tentative names for the dye groups were scrapped just before the Live Letter.

Dye GroupIncluded Dyes
Type A (name TBC)85 dyes from the 2.x patches
Type B (name TBC)9 dyes from Ishgardian Restoration
Type C (name TBC)11 dyes from Cosmic Exploration

Basically, instead of having an individual item for each dye color, you’ll be able to choose the color from one consolidated dye item. Any of the dyes that will be consolidated will no longer be obtainable as an individual item.

However, purchasable dyes from the online store and their corresponding colors will not be subject to this change. See the following screenshot for the list of excluded dyes.

When this change goes live, you’ll need to head to a Calamity Salvager to exchange any of your current dyes for the new consolidated dyes. Luckily, you’ll be able to exchange all of your dyes in one go automatically instead of painstakingly exchanging them one by one.

Many other systems have not been updated in a long time. Expect details or hints on other revamped systems during Fan Fest! Also, there were promises that data center issue fixes are on the way!
