FFXIV Players Have Only Seen 4 Evolved Mode Jobs, and Fan Fest Isn’t Promising More

A Red Mage prepares for battle

About a month ago, Anime Trending interviewed FFXIV devs about Evercold at Otakon. One highlight of this conversation was the eagerly anticipated Evolved Mode coming with the expansion.

However, as of this writing, only four Evolved jobs have been demonstrated, at Anaheim Fan Fest earlier this year. Localization supervisor and director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox said in the interview that a Letter from the Producer would showcase every remaining job.

What’s concerning is that the recently released 2026 FFXIV Tokyo Fan Fest schedule doesn’t mention a Letter from the Producer at all. Should we be worried? Maybe not, but it would be nice to see confirmation of the remaining jobs being demonstrated.

A Refresher on Evolved Mode

Evolved Mode will focus on streamlining actions and giving jobs more identity. Players who prefer the current combat system, though, will have the option to continue using it. The current system will be rebranded as Reborn Mode.

In Evolved Mode, Paladin’s main combo, as one example, will condense three actions into one. Additionally, Paladin’s Holy Spirit and Clemency actions will combine into Divine Justice. Targeting an ally or enemy will determine which action happens.

Emphasizing job individuality was another major goal of Evolved Mode. In a previous post, we mentioned that Bard’s songs would have more utility effects. For example, Mage’s Ballad will increase party regen, and Army’s Peon will increase movement speed. 🏃‍♀️

What Evolved Jobs Have We Seen So Far?

The devs showed Paladin, Dragoon, White Mage, and Bard in Evolved Mode at Anaheim Fan Fest this past April. You can watch the video above for much more information and to see Evolved Mode in action. I myself can’t wait to see what changes they’ve made to Black Mage. 🔥❄

Though it’s disappointing that the devs haven’t given us any more crumbs since then, we’re sure to learn more at Tokyo Fan Fest, which is less than two days away!
