wow Apexis Changes in WoW Patch 6.1

6 posts in this topic

Apexis Crystals will continue to act as the secondary currency for catch-up gear going in to Patch 6.1; players who are coming in to the game fresh, or working on new alts, will want to take advantage of the upgradeable Ethereal gear from Apexis Crystals.

Nethaera posted a short blog on the official WoW website with some of the details, but above and beyond the existing uses for Apexis Crystals today, new item level 670 gear will become available next week with 6.1, and new Missions and Scouting Missives to unlock additional Apexis dailies are also being added.

The most significant change, however, is that Apexis dailies can no longer be completed while in raid groups - which, for ease of completion, had become the de facto way to quickly work through them (using the Group Finder). Parties will still be eligible to work together on them, but raid groups will not.

Public commentary suggests this change will not be well received, due to the general length of time it takes to complete Apexis quests. Will you be taking advantage of Apexis dailies for new gear after the patch, or is this change enough to discourage you?

I haven't used Apexis crystals since about 2 weeks into the expansion. The cost of items from Apexis is way too high. Running every LFR for 645/655 gear takes like 2-3 hours once a week. and the drop rate seems so much higher than in the past. You'll average at least 2 pieces per week running every LFR. getting 1 useful piece from apexis takes 30 minutes of grinding dailies every day for 2 weeks.

It's even more efficient to just farm for gold and buy BoE's than it is to do anything with apexis.

I was already discouraged by the amount of apexis crystal needed to buy epic gear.

I just did 5k to complete the second step of the legendary quest and then stopped farming them.

Since the drop rate is low, you need to farm like crazy to get capped (and by crazy I mean pure insane!) and even when you finally cap it, you realize you can only buy 1 item which is weaker than the one already on AH for like less than 10k gold. And 10k gold is nowhere near close to apexis crystal cap, farm-wise.

And with this patch, ppl don't even bother doing the daily quest to buy weekly seals with it, which is the only reason ppl does it. Go PvP, have some FUN (instead of wasting your time slaughtering some Iron Horde) , spend some honor to buy seals.

Unless they really jack up the follower quests and rewards for apexis crystals.  This is totally not a system for "catching up." right now you get 800-1000 a day maybe, so its 3-5 days for the first tier items, then everything else is 8-10 for 2nd tier and then 15-20 days for the next.  Even if you have 1 item that you want, that's a month of farming to get enough crystals.  How is that catch up?  Even after the next patch everything will be lower than or equal to what I have.  Even if there was something I wanted, by the time i get enough crystals, i'll have something better or another raid will be out.. lol.

To add to what's been said already, it's even worse that non-gear related items you can buy with the Apexis crystals actually require an additional amount of gold. Mainly mounts and followers. You have to grind the rep, and once you got the Apexis, you also dish out the gold.

While a lot of players won't necessarily care about 4-6K gold, the concept itself doesn't make sense. If you want us to focus on doing the dailies, then make things cheaper, or increase the drop rate of the crystals to make them worth our time and effort. And there doesn't seem to be enough interesting stuff to buy.

Anyway, I haven't used them at all, and only ended up buying a mount or follower in order to bring the total below the cap. Now that they are pushing the cap to 60K, I'll just keep them for longer. And probably get my seals with them. Until that is, I get the achievement for 50 invasions, at which point I'm not sure I'll keep doing the dailies.

If Blizzard wants to make Apexis useful they should merge garrison resources and apexis into one currency and give it the it the new 60,000 apexis cap. I'll farm apexis dailies if I can use them for my garrison, and currently I make 3-5k garrison resources per week that I'm just spending on herbs at my trading post so this would open up the possibility of buying gear with the resources I'm generating in my garrison already. Combining the two currencies into one would make every aspect of both way better, and I can't think of a single downside to doing this.

The method revolves around reselling shirts for profit. It doesn't require high initial investment.
Broxel Goldgrasp sells a of shirts for just 25g/pc. The best thing is many aren't even aware of that vendor and players are buying them for ridiculous prices, because of the Fashionista: Shirt achievement. They visually represent World of Warcraft races.
The vendor is located in Icecrown (Argent Tournament Grounds). If you're still farming ICC for Invincible's Reins or Ulduar for Mimiron's Head make sure to pay him a visit.
      He sells the following doublets:
Orgrimmar Doublet Undercity Doublet Thunder Bluff Doublet Sen'jin Doublet Silvermoon Doublet Alliance
Stormwind Doublet Ironforge Doublet Exodar Doublet Darnassus Doublet Gnomeregan Doublet Thomas Yance is a traveling salesman. He doesn't sell shirts only. His arsenal includes boots, pants or robes. You can experiment with selling them as well, especially on RP realms I assume they will be very valuable. The vendor can be found in Old Hillsbrad Foothills (Caverns of Time).
      Shirts he's selling:
Recruit's Shirt Squire's Shirt Neophyte's Shirt Apprentice's Shirt Acolyte's Shirt Even though the shirts don't look very appealing, they still count toward the achievement and should make you some gold for a few copper investment.
If you're absolutely lazy, I've got a surprise for you. There are shirt vendors in Dalaran too. Except you'll see a lot of those shirts on the Auction House, but that's the price you ultimately have to pay for your laziness.
Angelique Butler (36, 37) is selling:
Antiseptic-Soaked Dressing Wound Dressing Salan Sunthread (37, 55) is selling the following apparel:
Ebon Filigreed Doublet Cerulean Filigreed Doublet Golden Filigreed Doublet Amber Filigreed Doublet Scarlet Filigreed Doublet Ebon Filigreed Shirt Cerulean Filigreed Shirt Amber Filigreed Shirt Scarlet Filigreed Shirt Golden Filigreed Shirt Blue Martial Shirt Green Martial Shirt Yellow Martial Shirt Purple Martial Shirt Red Martial Shirt Embroidered Shirt Is somewhat pricey. Costs 1,000 Gold. Tips
Buy multiple shirts, but NEVER put all your stock in the Auction House at once. We want players to think the shirt is rare and that's why it has such a price tag. I'd put a single shirt of each on the AH per character. Up to two chars max. This includes undercutting it on your alt by a copper to make the illusion of rarity perfect. Shirts usually sell overnight without any issues.

US realms are affected by yet another wave of gem dupe.
Do you see a Level 1 character advertising in Trade, selling dozens of cheap gems? If the answer is yes, your realm is affected.
These items are currently duped like crazy
Saber's Eye of Agility Saber's Eye of Intellect Saber's Eye of Strength What I advise you is to:
Stay away from these gems unless you need them for raiding. In this case, buying them from the Auction House makes them clean as opposed to direct trade with the duper, which is a bannable offense and such items can get removed from your inventory. Don't buy these items if they show up in your TSM Sniper. Prices were slowly recovering from the initial dupe back in September and here we go again. I feel really sorry for people who dumped lots of gold into 800/800 Jewelcrafting. The price of an uncut Saber's Eye is three times higher than its cut counterpart.
      EU Realms
After having viewed prices of highly-populated EU realms, like Aerie Park, there aren't any spikes in supply and/or price drops. Many if not all EU realms remain unaffected.
To check prices on your server, use The Undermine Journal. My realm is listing the cheapest for 2.8K. Did you see a price drop on your realm? Report back with results!

Senior Game Designer Jeremy Feasel tweeted that there are more hidden items that the community hasn't discovered yet in Legion's initial Patch 7.0.
Muffinus has been teasing us over at Twitter that there are more hidden items that are yet to be discovered aside from Reins of the Long-Forgotten Hippogryph, Kosumoth the Hungering or Hidden Artifact appearances.
It could be something related to Shoe Shine Kit as there is a chest that periodically spawns, but can't be opened in Dalaran's Photonic Playground (44, 47) next to Sheddle Glossgleam's shoeshine seat. The chest spawns facing the wall and can't be opened.

What we know so far (based on various Wowhead comments and observations):
The chest spawns at early Sundays - 12 AM (PST) / 3 AM (EST) realm time - and despawns after two hours. During these two hours Sheddle Glossgleam goes drinking in Dalaran's Legerdemain Lounge. A coffee presser and two coffee grinders can be used in the Lounge at all times. I tried to click them in every possible sequence when he was drinking coffee like crazy,  but nothing happened. There's also an empty flower pot on the bar. The npc doesn't sell any other items apart from his usual inventory. There are no chat references that could give us any hint. Talking to other NPCs at the Lounge does nothing. His brother Shandy Glossgleam doesn't have any chat lines and is upstairs out on the balcony. Pick Pocket or Pick Lock don't work as the target is Friendly. Spectral Sight doesn't work. If you get the Shiny Shoes buff, the chest can't be opened and no interaction options become available. A similar chest to Sheddle's is near the art dealer, but you can't click it. Shoe Shine Kit Tracking Quest & 7.0 Dalaran - Shoe Shiner Disappear could be somehow tied to the whole event. Let's unravel the mystery!
