Blackrock Foundry Progression Race [5]

Recommended Posts

The race is over, and we have a winner in the quest to defeat Mythic Blackhand. There are some ongoing discussions about part of how the kill was achieved, however...

Method's Mythic Blackhand kill shot

The team over at Method was able to kill Mythic Blackhand late on Friday night, securing the world first - and, to date, only - successful full Mythic clear. Over the past few days, another handful of guilds have achieved 9/10, leaving a dozen guilds chasing for top finishes behind Method.

Method has posted videos for 9/10 Mythic encounters, and both fans and curious onlookers alike are certainly waiting to see what they will publish for Mythic Blackhand.

Midwinter also published a Mythic Blast Furnace video worth having a look at:

Midwinter vs. Mythic Blast Furnace

One interesting note is that even after two full weeks of Mythic availability, less than 600 guilds worldwide have beaten even a single Mythic BRF encounter. The tuning is clearly not overly gentle!

The contentious debate revolving around Method's world first is a concern regarding account sharing, with transferred alts having been used to secure a composition and gear level otherwise unattainable to Method for this kill. No conclusive information has been published officially, and neither Blizzard nor Method have commented on this subject thus far.

The composition Method utilized for their kill was:

Tanks: Protection Warrior, Brewmaster Monk

Healers: 2x Holy Paladins, Discipline Priest, Restoration Shaman

DPS: 3x Hunters, 4x Balance Druids, 2x Mages, 2x Warlocks, 3x Rogues

We'll follow up if any further news breaks on this subject, as well as with updates regarding US firsts as they arrive.

So is there any particular reason why they go with Prot Warrior?

If we believe SimCraft is the best simulation for WoW, then prot warrior is the worst tank in this patch according to simcraft numbers, mobility aside.

Prot Warrior has the most damage taken per second (not counting dk cause it has hell amount of APS+HPS), the least amount of healing and absorption, and highest TMI ranking which is really bad for a tank! While paladin is much better according to the numbers.

They were able to master the monk class, I don't see why they chose warrior over paladin.

But if you say SimCraft is wrong! then I say this whole website is wrong cause everywhere I go for a class guide it says it is based on SimCraft.

The rest of the classes are expectable, We all see those healer classes at the top of the rankings, and also those dps classes.

It's hard to know the exact rationale until we see their video, but odds are it's an issue of tank movement - there is a tremendous amount of utility in Charge/Leap that isn't well emulated by e.g. a Death Knight or Paladin tank.

I agree on why they would go with a Warrior tank just because of the movement speed. I main Blood and there isn't really much to do in terms of movement. However I usually use personal CD's to make up for the lack. Rune tap is the best :D

It's game over until next week for 9 players who've earned every available achievement that grants points! Congrats!
The ongoing Northrend Cup has introduced new achievements for players to complete, and as we all know, some players are incredibly dedicated when it comes to racking up achievement points.
The latest one is osatox, who proudly shared a screenshot showcasing 100% completion of all point-granting achievements!
Placeholder for tweet 1785906134521671737 According to Data of Azeroth, there are currently 9 players leading the pack, having 'beaten the game' so far by mastering every available achievement that gives points.

As you're likely aware, "beating WoW" is often short-lived. The next achievement points await with the arrival of Patch 10.2.7 next week! Keep an eye out for further updates!

Due to bugs, Blizzard has decided to extend Children's Week by one more week to give players more time to finish the meta-achievement!
The event will end on May 13th, 2024 instead of May 6th.
      (Source)
We’re aware of and working on issues with the Children’s Week holiday. Specifically, we’re fixing bugs with the holiday’s quests as well as fixing an issue with the What A Long Strange Trip It’s Been achievement not properly granting the Master Riding skill.
Considering the time it’s taking to complete this work, we’ve decided to extend the holiday by a week to make sure everyone has plenty of time after the fixes.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding.
