Priestlock! A new deck I made.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Ever since flash heal came out I was very excited that there is finally a super effective card to combo with soulpriest. It's also very quick for healing out of combo lethal range.

For a while I was always thinking how much better it would be to have 2 heal power and healing to stay alive with Molten giants on the board than to have a power that draws u cards when you're winning and deals damage to you.

Handlock is universally known now and very effective, but I think now it might be possible for Priest to do Priestlock biggrin.png

Here is the decklist I've put together so far.

2x Circle of Healing

2x Flash Heal

2x Power Word: Shield

1x Divine Shield

2x Resurrect

2x Pain

2x Velen's Chosen

2x Injured Blademaster

1x Mass Dispel

2x Auchenai Soulpriest

2x Twilight Drake

2x Holy Nova

2x Holy Fire

1x Emperor Thaurissan

1x Justicar Trueheart

1x Alexstrasza

1x Frost Giant

2x Molten Giant

Soulpriest gets 4 cards for great removal and clear and if you've played Trueheart it's 4dmg removal hero power. Resurrect almost always gets huge value. Using hero power often to buy time pays off on the Frost Giant. Twilight Drakes usually work as 4/7s or better. Pain is great removal while waiting to play the Drakes. Mass Dispel is a draw and can remove all the deathrattle value.

Note: I tried doing 2 Frost Giants, but a lot of people play aggro, so I swapped 1 giant for an extra Holy Fire.

Also, Sunfury Protector devalues Resurrect greatly and a lot of the time you're spending mana on using hero power or taking care of the drake or blademaster. I've found that there's no room for them and they're not needed when playing giants and the flash heals.

Cool deck idea! Sadly I'm missing a Justicar, Alex, and Giants (the dust grind is real), so will shy away from trying it out myself for the now.

That said, still love theorycrafting! Prophet Velen seems like a valuable inclusion in this type of deck. Kind of doubles up on the Justicar effect in terms of consistently seeing it, and they complement each other when you see both.

I really like the Mass Dispel card in this deck. I think it's an excellent choice for the meta, and meshes with the rest of the list. Thuaurissan seems vital, too.

What do you mean by "1x Divine Shield"? Argent Horserider or Annoy-o or...?

I'd want to try swapping one Pain for a Shadow Madness. Taking a taunter or high value low drop (opposing Cleric/Cultist, Snowchugger, Water Elemental, Harvest, Murloc Knight, Acolyte, Twilight Guardian, Raging Worgen, Argent Horserider, Sorc Apprentice, Flamewaker, Totem Golem, Mana Tide, Nerubian Egg, Vitality Totem, Al'Akir, buffed&visible Blood Imp, Void Walker, Dreadsteed, Felguard, Patron if you lived through the burst, Annoy-o, Thalnos, Knife Juggler, Loot Hoarder, Micro Machine, Pyromancer, Light/Darkbane, Imp Master, Sen'jin, Belcher), suiciding on a second minion, and then having that guy potentially come back for more off a future Resurrect could prove useful. You don't have much going on turn 4 anyway, and can be a nice way to slow down the game in even a more valuable way than Pain... even sans Shrinkmeisters. Pain's still super useful, cheaper, and more consistent of a kill so prolly not worth swapping both.

[edit] Garrison Commander shouts out loudly as at least a 1-of.

@Soleniae

Hm you bring up some interesting points. With the current meta, I felt that pain is a great way to turn 2 remove a vital card for combos of the opponent early, but maybe swapping one for a shadow madness could be good, but then you literally have nothing on turn 2 xD and a cheap removal for turns 5 and 6 as you play something is very nice imo for the curve.

Garrison Commander would possibly devalue ressurect, but may be good in combo, I'll need to test that.

Edit: 1x Divine Spirit* is what I meant

I don't have a Prophet Velen, but I think you're right, he'd be very good in the deck and it doesn't matter if he dies to BGH, I have giants as well :D

Thanks for your comment!

Any vids, or play reports? Sounds like a lot of fun!

Light of the Naaru seems like something else worth testing. Cheap, targeted healmoval with reach, and a worthwhile body thrown in for free. Almost like an additional copy of Flash Heal. Hard to choose something to pull though, maybe Divine and try it as a 1-of?

Hi, so with testing and the new update out (Explorers), I've changed the deck list!

2x Circle of Healing

2x Flash Heal

2x Power Word: Shield

2x Resurrect

2x Pain

2x Velen's Chosen

2x Injured Blademaster

2x Mass Dispel

2x Auchenai Soulpriest

2x Twilight Drake

2x Excavated Evil

2x Holy Fire

1x Emperor Thaurissan

1x Alexstrasza

2x Mountain Giant

2x Molten Giant

Some thoughts:

- Depending too much on drawing Soulpriest made the deck inconsistent so putting cards that depend on her to work are out

- Frost Giants aren't any better than Mountain, and because this is a deck about playing either no cards, or 2/3 cards at a time, and cards like Shield and Dispel are replacing themselves, Mountain works much better. Molten aren't always utilizable, but are an amazing insurance policy against aggro and anxious play and provide consistency and more bombs in the deck.

- Excavating Evil is a strict upgrade to Holy Nova for the purpose of a board clear. You're almost never going to worry about it getting drawn by the opponent because by then you are either winning with giants on the board which Excavated Evil would be useless against, or they're ahead in which case that card is no advantage for them. When I saw this card released I was super happy because of how much it raises the power level of this deck!

I will post again with data on highest reachable rank!

Welcome Adventurers! The time has come upon us, FINALLY! The moment in Classic WoW history us diehard, loyal WoW nerds have all been waiting for. WRATH CLASSIC! Arthas Did Nothing Wrong (ADNW) has just begun recruiting (For WotLK Classic) hard-core, casual, rp, pvp, pve, raiders, anything you can think of, you are welcomed here. Although our main focus in ADNW will be progressive raiding, 10 and 25 man and pvp content, we look to have someone for just about anything. Currently we are recruiting for our CORE 10M team composed entirely of irl / internet homies. We are in need of just 1 HEALER (Highly prefer a disc priest with a shadow off spec) and another DPS. Preferably lock or Shadow priest. We are looking to fill our B 10m team entirely, so we can pool together for 25 man’s when it comes time to crush 25m. This guild was founded by a group of tight nit friends recently, who have been around since TBC. WOTLK was our turning point in WoW, and we CANNOT wait to get another crack at this and MAKE IT RIGHT. Come join the adventure of a chill environment full of helpful hands and knowledge. Feel free to reach out to me Via Discord: Daevilmonkiexp#9239 OR Bnet: Daevilmonkie#1280 just let me know you are interested in the guild and we can have a convo! ARTHAS DID NOTHING WRONG!

      To all who read,
I am a WoW player and have been since vanilla, I’ve played several variances of classes through the expansions and this round settled with shadow priest which I ran through the majority of Legion and BfA. I have never written a guide or forum post before but decided I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions and see how other players in the same position feel as well.

I would like to ask people to respect everyone’s opinion as this forum topic will be a place for unusual class builds, talent choices, and stat priorities. Everyone plays the game for fun and should be able to build a toon that is effective utilizing a multi style approach. I do believe that the simulators are awesome for checking gear and choices when it comes to specific cases perhaps PvP. That being said though, I feel as though sims are not really a good indicator of a talent choice or gear piece’s level of effectiveness. I am by no means a tremendously good player, probably average to be honest, but ask any top tier player and they will tell you very rarely does a pull go “perfect” for their class. these simulations then are only showing if something goes perfect, so I thought why not build a class around what “actually” happens versus the “perfect pull”, so that is what I did.
I would love to hear what other players thoughts on the matter are and list what your individual stat priorities are and maybe discuss why!
      mine are as follows;
      1.) Mastery = Versatility
(both of these boost damage output but versatility is not limited by number of DoTs so it helps if you are struggling to keep skills on targets.)
2.) Haste (this increases the amount of ticks per cast, when paired with high Vers and mastery you deal large DoT damage which is great if you’re in a high movement fight.)
      3.) Critical
This for many reasons is great. First, shadowy app procs, and secondly just plain damage bumps. Lastly, and arguably most important though is the shadow word death damage boost. When we execute (comparing to warrior skill) it deals increased damage naturally to targets below 20% health I believe. When you pair this with high mastery Vers and a decent crit chance you can execute for incredibly high amounts of damage to help that end fight dps chart!
