Which trinket (of two) to use on Sub Rogue?

6 posts in this topic

Hi all,

Got great help the last time I asked, but now I'm a bit lost again. I have two trinkets, but I don't know which one to use!

First: I've studied a bit, and almost always everyone say to use the highest ilvl possible. However, I cannot say I agree on this one. So if someone's got any facts to backup one or the other, please provide.

Trinket1 (wearing now): http://www.wowhead.com/item=113931/beating-heart-of-the-mountain&bonus=560

Trinket2 (not wearing now): http://www.wowhead.com/item=128150/pressure-compressed-loop&bonus=563

I have both of them with the bonuses as provided in the links.

If you need anything more, just let me know and I'll answer as best as possible.

How come you disagree about using the higher ilevel one? Not only does it give more stats, but it has a socket as well

Thanks for looking into my post.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but here are the primary stats (the way I read them):

ilvl676 - Agility: +313

ilvl685 - Agility: +265

So basically, what I read: The lower ilvl has more agility which is my primary stat. The higher ilvl has indeed more of the secondary stats, but I was always told that the primary stat is way more important than any secondary stat...

Thanks again.

Did some napkin math for you with the trinket stat values. Took the numbers on the trinkets and multiplied them by their stat weights

BHotM: 4382 + 108 = 4490

PCL: 3710 + 1064 + 731 = 5505

Note this is VERY rough math and doesn't take into account that you should be using BHotM every time you use Shadow Reflection.

With that in mind, I think the two are pretty close to identical in terms of performance. If you prepare properly and use SR on cooldown every single time it's up without any kind of delay, you'll probably see better results out of BHotM, but if that isn't the case then the PCL is probably slightly ahead

Thanks, the math exceeds my knowledge of calculating stats, but it looks like raw facts, so I trust that! Thank you very much for your time and effort.

Yeah I want to emphasize how rough it is. Like I said: my best guess, without simming your character, is that the two trinkets are pretty much equal

So right now I play Sub as my main spec. I mained outlaw for the first week or so of Legion and honestly I hated sub (not sure why) but after I tried it, it is now my preferred spec among the 3. I know that sub scales the best with gear and is the most superior spec around 870ilv too. I never see sub in pve and usually outlaw/sin mainly (for mythic+ and raids) so I was wondering if I am doing anything wrong?
      Armoury: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/stormscale/Dyldoe/simple
For my talents, I use weaponmaster as it is very good for aoe pulls (I can pull about 400k dps on 3-4 targets) then followed by the traditional talents for pve sub (I go master of subtlety for raids)
I know my stats are not the best for sub as I need to get more mastery/vers rather than haste (crit is still pretty good if i'm correct)
I couldn't spec into Akaari's Soul as it breaks cc in pvp with means I loose a hefty amount of dps which is very annoying and I am debating to repsec into it and put up with it in pvp for the extra dps increase.
My weapon pathing looks like this: https://gyazo.com/61e1d2ba599db43cb2faeee306c72e81
I seem to be doing everything correctly for dps but I do about 250-300k dps on single target and stays about 200k the whole time. Sometimes can go up to 350-400k depending on how smooth the fight goes but if it's anything to do with my weapon/talents/ilv/stats and even playstyle then please let me know, thanks!
Edit: I have respecced my weapon to now look like this: https://gyazo.com/e972f73591090f9895e097d9782e3035
I should be doing better now ^^ Appreciate the help

      Hello all,
Like many others on the forums, I'm in that weird space in gearing where drops have to be specifically screened based on Stat weights rather rather than item level. It seems we sins have been hit really hard by this distinction, leading to a genuine issue where deciding to take lower item level gear can impact our estimated invitation value to mythic+ groups.
The following is my current gears set, shitty legendary and all. My current goal is to level out my mastery a bit higher, as I made the foolish decision to value high crit gear without concern for mastery this last week, and have felt the effects.
Check me out, and pass me some tips or love!
