heroes HotS: Balance Update - February 10, 2016

Blizzard has released a new Balance Update featuring bug fixes and talent changes to some Heroes.


Blizzard has released a new minor patch with balance updates.


The following Heroes are subject to changes in the latest balance update:






  • Players are mostly running Basic Attack builds, that's why Blizzard has decided to make the 'mage' Falstad more powerful. Hinterland Blast also wasn't doing enough damage.



  • Heroes like Jaina and Kael'thas had their Basic Attack damage reduced, because they don't rely upon it. For Jaina, this allows more advanced plays. Her win rate is lower than expected that's why Frostbolt and Cone of Cold have received buffs.



  • Kael'thas is a powerful Hero with little to no downsides. Blizzard has nerfed several aspects of his kit and he's subject to a talent overhaul soon. The stun duration of Gravity Lapse would secure more kills than expected that's why it has been reduced. The other problem is his Phoenix. Its cooldown has been increased by 20 seconds. Pyroblast was buffed while also having its cooldown increased. The developers want to make Pyroblast an optimal pick in certain situations.



  • After Nova's overhaul the damage is too low.  While Snipe Master encourages a different playstyle, a single miss can be fatal toward the talent's reward, that's why the maximum amount of stacks has been decreased to 5 and the damage bonus per stack has been increased to 12%.



  • The developers are happy with Thrall, but felt like small nerfs to his damage and Heroic were necessary. Cooldown of the Sundering has been increased to 80 seconds and his Basic Attack damage was also reduced.






  • While the new talents bring in a variety of builds, the majority of Lightning Shield Talents are clear winners. Nerfing Lightning Shield's damage will reduce Rehgar's win rate and make other talent options more desirable.






  • Diablo synergises well with Tyrande that's why the developer team wanted to see first how Tyrande nerfs would impact him. His win rate has remained near the top, that's why his must-pick talent Fire Devil has been nerfed.

Rehgar is still going to be op, not because of lightning shield, because of "Rising Storm" talent at lvl 16. 200% more damage is too much. you just have to cast it on a warrior, go to wolf form and auto attack to reduce lightning shield's cd then cast it again, it's a 100% uptime with a ton of damage, that's what makes him op right now.


Jaina gets a buff? Thank you very much LOL.


I guess they are thinking very deeply about Li-Ming changes, that's why we haven't seen any nerfs. They want op mages but they can't deny the winrate.

      It's bad news for players that regurlarly go AFK during matches or die intentionally. Another banwave went out yesterday.
      We’ve just issued a new round of account suspensions and bans for players who regularly go AFK, refuse to participate, or intentionally and repeatedly die during their Heroes of the Storm matches. 

      Today’s action was targeted at those whose in-game performance data clearly indicates a consistent lack of contribution to the majority of their matches. In order further confirm which accounts should be suspended or banned, we also review the data behind every one of these accounts by hand, as well as examine the volume and types of in-game reports these players have received. Through this three-point verification process, we are able to take regular and confident action against players who are intentionally harming the in-game experience for others.

      Going AFK, refusing to participate, and intentionally dying are behaviors that ruin the experience for everyone else in a match and undermine the spirit of competition that’s essential to Heroes of the Storm. Taking part in these actions will not be tolerated, and we will continue to suspend and ban players who do. We’d like to thank those of you who use the relevant in-game reporting options when you spot these negative behaviors in your matches, and encourage you to continue doing so.

      Bloodlust Brawl is here! Every 30 seconds, two players on each team will gain the effect of Rehgar's Bloodlust. There's a 15% chance for all players to receive Bloodlust.  All this happens on Dragon Shire. The Dragon Knight and Mercenaries are permanently under the effect of Bloodlust. After 17:00, all players gain permanent Bloodlust. 
      Sounds like a lot of fun!

      Shuffle Pick Choose from one of three randomly selected Heroes before entering the battle on Dragon Shire. Be quick about it though, you only have 30 seconds to choose! Bloodlust! Every 30 seconds, after the gates open, two players on each team gain the effects of Rehgar’s Bloodlust. There is a 15% chance that all Heroes will receive Bloodlust. After 17:00, all players gain a permanent Bloodlust. The Dragon Knight and all Mercenary camps are permanently under the effects of Bloodlust. Be the first team to take down the enemy Core to claim victory! Rewards

      Valeera's patch adds the Cursed Hollow Sandbox to the game and you can select the mode under "Custom Games". It gives you several cheats which impact the game. Some options are well-known from the game's Try Mode.
      Cheats can impact a match from the start until the very end. At any point during the game, you have access to the commands below.
      The first option is to "Share Cheats", which gives all players access to fiddle around with game settings. Toggle Minions for both teams On/Off. Reset Structures Toggle Tribute Spawning: On/Off Move Here: Teleports you wherever you want. Reset Talents: Resets all talents. Reset Cooldowns: Resets all cooldowns Set Team Level: You can separately set the Level of both teams from 1 to 30. Toggle Infinite Mana: Stops mana depleting. It can be adjusted for both teams separately. Set Damage Dealt: Set the damage you or the enemy team deals from 1 to 300%. Set Damage Taken: Set the damage your or the enemy team takes from 1 to 300%.
      What do you think about it? I'd love if we were able to set up our own custom brawls with modifiers.
