T16 Restoration Shaman Set Bonuses

1 post in this topic

With the new PTR information out there, I thought it would be interesting to discuss the new Resto Shaman Tier Bonuses. I'd like to see what people think of them and some suggestions for use;

2-Piece Bonus

When Earth Shield heals a target, the target will also gain 100% of the amount healed as an absorb.

My opinion; meh. It's a nice idea, and one of the major problems that Shaman have been feeling in ToT is the complete dominance of absorbs over heals that let our Mastery shine. That said, I don't think the solution to "too much absorbs" is "MOAR ABSORBZZ!". However, just looking at it on it's own it's a reasonably powerful extra heal which doesn't require any thought to keep up. It will scale with spellpower (good) and maybe Mastery and Crit (need to confirm) but definitely not Haste. Looks OK, since Haste is pretty meh until something new comes along for us.

4-Piece Bonus

Spiritwalker's Grace will also summon a spiritual version of yourself that will mimic all cast time targeted spells for 15 seconds.

Well. Well well well. This is the same type of bonus that we saw in T13 with SWG also giving a major throughput buff. Back then we didn't have Ascendance or Elemental Mastery and it really made a difference to our ability to keep up with big damage spikes.

These days we have loads of tools to deal with massive damage spikes, so why do we need another burst cooldown? Our burst is really good these days (to the point where I beg fights to have burst sections) and our sustained healing is relatively weak. So why do we have yet another burst tool?

Anyway, the best use for this kind of thing is I think in combination with another burst tool, and since I already have an Ascendance Macro and this will go in there perfectly. On the other hand, if there are high tank-damage phases we could use this cooldown to double our healing on the tank (double-healing Mastery-buffed GHW, anyone?). Given careful thought, this could be a very good utility cooldown.

i was wondering about a few trinkets as i'm trying to max my dmg since my guild will be trying myth soon (can't complain atm, dmg is quite good)
      Last night i got
from Heroic Cenarius. I switched my 825 Devilsaur Shockbaton for it. Other trinket atm is 855 Faulty Countermeasure.
What i'm wondering is, another Enha is running
and the proc'd stats difference is quite significant, as CoW procs at 865 with 2,760 Crit/Mastery/Haste whereas Memento on 855 with sth around 4,5k same stats. Duration is different, 10s uptime CoW, 6s Memento. Still i feel like a Memento on 865 could outperform CoW, since it also hast alot Mainstat. Simcraft won't give me contructive feedback, no matter how ofter i run in (more than 10k actions). has anyone some info on these two trinkets?
Is CoW good, or do i need to farm Maw of Souls again like a mad man (with this weeks teeming/necrotic not that easy)?
Bonus Question: Couldn't dig up any information about FCM being nerfed for Enha, can someone enlighten me why it's not good anymore?
      Thx in advance!

      ABOUT US
We are a very social guild LFM for progression/semi-casual raiding and leveling.
When we say "semi-casual," we mean that we raid two days for three hours, can laugh about a wipe but are still serious about progression. We plan to do Normal raids (not for long) before going on to Heroic and Mythic.
New players and all levels welcomed. We are VERY new player and new role friendly and have a few new players in the raid group already. We will work with you and get you trained up. So don't worry!
We do have some PvPers and an experienced RBG leader so PvP isn't out of the question.
We're almost always on Discord and we joke around a lot. Some jokes aren't appropriate so keep that in mind. (Recommended 18+)
Currently we are using the EPGP system ( The addon EPGP (DKP Reloaded), DBM, and GTFO are required to be downloaded and kept up-to-date on raid nights.
Fridays & Sundays 8pm - 11pm PST. (10pm - 1am Server Time.) NOTE: Flasks, foods, potions, and enchants will be provided for raiders on a first-come first-serve basis. People who contribute to the guild bank will also have preference. Guild repairs provided on raid nights. Trials will be provided with the aforementioned items if we can spare them after the main raiders. CURRENT PROGRESSION
Emerald Nightmare, [7/7N] [1/7H] OTHER EVENTS

I am in need of help. My Doomhammer is currently on 887 itemlevel. From this weeks world boss I got 860 ilvl "Calamir's Jaw" which gives "Each target hit by crash lightning increases damage dealt by my next stormstrike by 2%. (which is semi ok).
BUT my current one is a 850 ilvl "Torch of shaladrassil" with 10% increased attack speed when stormstrike proccs.
So the question is, do I switch to the 860 ilvl one? It boosts doomhammer from 887 to 890. BUT i loose 10% attack speed. goes from 40% to 30%. Is it worth it? I feel stormstrike proccs alot and the attackspeed is very useful.

I'm maining Resto Druid in Legion and I've been browsing the forums for advice and hints to improve my healing. I've found lots of information here so I thought I'd give back. One thing I failed to see anyone mention in a lot of the threads I read is the Artifact trait Dreamwalker. People were discussing ways to save mana and ways to improve their healing and I feel this accomplishes both. It's passive but I feel if you were to play close attention to making sure you have rejuv on the targets that have wild growth, you'll get much more healing out of those expensive wild growth casts. We all know the SW>WG>Flourish>EoG combo but if you prep your targets with rejuv beforehand, you can get even more healing out of this bread and butter combo. I just wanted to bring more attention to the trait because I didn't see anyone mention it. Also please feel free to leave any other tips you feel aren't being brought up often enough. Thanks guys.
