Kun-Lai Summit a level 87-89 zone located on the northern part of Pandaria. It is the largest of the zones and is bordered by the Townlong Steppes in the east, the Vale of Eternal Blossoms in the south, and the Jade Forest in the west, although there is no land connection between the Jade Forest and Kun-Lai Summit. For leveling players, Kun-Lai Summit will be accessed by a narrow mountain pass that runs from the Valley of the Four Winds and circumvents the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
Kun-Lai Summit can be divided in two parts. The southern part is the Yaungol Advance, an immense plain that the Yaungol have recently invaded, overtaking most of the Pandaren farms. The Yaungol are a Tauren-like race from the Townlong Steppes. Driven mad by the Sha, they crossed the Serpent Spine and started attacking the Pandaren. The northern part is mountainous and this is where Mount Neverest, the highest point on Pandaria, lies. There, you will encounter the Grummle, a race of small humanoids, whose caravans are under constant attacks from the Hozen.
Kun-Lai Summit also houses Xuen, the White Tiger, who is one of the four August Celestials. His temple is located in the northeastern part of the zone.
Storyline
The first part of the storyline focuses on saving Binan Village from the Yaungol before helping your faction establish a stronghold in the Yaungol Advance. Then, the storyline branches out in three different directions:
- Helping the Shado-Pan against the Sha will start the storyline for the Townlong Steppes. The Shado-Pan is the fighting force whose assignment is to guard the Serpent Spine against the Mantid in the Dread Wastes and the Yaungol in the Townlong Steppes.
- Going to Muskpaw Ranch will open the Grummle storyline.
- Going to One Keg will open the Lorewalker Cho storyline, in which you will help him thwart the Zandalari and the Mo'gu in their plans to revive the Thunder King, the great Mo'gu emperor.
If you want to access the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, you will need to open the Gate of the August Celestials by completing a short quest line in the Temple of the White Tiger.
Screenshots
As we were progressing through the zone, we took a number of screenshots. You will find the best ones below. Note that Kun-Lai Summit is the largest zone of Pandaria and as such it features a lot of different landscapes (hence the relatively high number of screenshots).
