Live dps doesnt match Sim dps need help

So Im a 571 ele shaman this is my armory link

Im being simmed at 336k dps as my average for a 5 min training dummy session with full burst and CDs. (Pots,etc..) But by the time I reach the 5 min mark im somewhere between 290k- 300k dps. My rotation is FS, UE (Im specced into Fury), LVB,LB, ES at 7 stacks. I only pop UE when LVB is usable and I have a weak auras to make sure im not munching fulmination stacks. My opener is pot at 3s DBM, Fire ele, Lust, FS,UE, Lash, LVB spam.

Please if anyone can help me sustain at least 320k that would be great. At this ilvl I should be doing at least that much.

try not having so much between prepot and LvB spam.

 

at 2 sec fire ele, at one sec prepot, then hero, FS, Lash, Ascend/LvB spam.

 

after seeing if the above helps, i would also try EB. it may better suit your particular gear circumstance.

Remember that Simulations include all buffs 100% of the time (Food/Flask too), as well as prepotting and potting during the fight.  You're almost never going to match your simulation DPS target dummy vs target dummy.

 

From your logs, your DPS is pretty good.  Tight UF timing, limited instant use during Unleashed Fury's uptime, and pretty good (but not great) Earth Shock/Fulmination timing.

 

I do see a few instances of spending UF on Flame Shock, though, and that's a big mistake.  3 out of 24 Unleash Flame procs were spent that way, and that would remove a fair bit of damage.  Watch out for that.

 

I think your gear is fine to run UF, and it is the better option if you can maintain the more complex playstyle.  I usually suggest 570 w/ a Heroic weapon.  If you think you'd be more comfortable using EB, though, try it out and you may see similar or better numbers.  If you do try out EB, just shift your Mastery to ~87% and put the extra into Haste.

@Hybris I went EB because I noticed that when I get a mastery proc from it my mastery goes to 100% which is the best possible way to dps from my understanding considering all my spells that can be duplicated are. Is forgoing the burst from UE Fury and the 10%dmg from Fury worth the 100% mastery? Once I hit 100% mastery without EB Ill go back to UF.

I think the key idea here has already been stated by Hybrys; don't expect to match the sims.

 

Sure, set the sim DPS as a target. However, you should really only be expecting to get within 10% most of the time, even on dummies.

 

Also remember that when you change your talents, gear, etc, your sim value will change and you will have a new set of values which you also should not expect to hit.

 

One thing that you should do if you are really dead set on doing exactly what the sim does is to check your rotation against the standard rotation that the sim is using. If it is different, then that is one reason you aren't doing the same DPS as your sim.

Thanks for the info, but while I have you here why when I get my 100% mastery procs from EB arent all of my LB or LvB being copied in that 8 sec window? Wouldn't 100% mean that it always happened? My mastery goes to 102.47% when I get a proc.

Right, but going above 100% Mastery has no benefit, that's why I recommend sticking to a cap of ~87%, which is around:

100% - (3500 rating * PBoI Amplification)

 

Fluxuating a little bit for the different versions of the PBoI.

 

 

Here's the real conundrum:

 

Unleashed Fury vs Elemental Blast is a pretty heated area of conversation, especially on these forums where I tend to lean towards EB's simplistic playstyle.  If you can play UF well, you can probably beat Elemental Blast.  But on the average skill level, I think Elemental Blast comes ahead, because each little mistake chips away at that 'gain' you could have.

I did my heroic run last night and up to iron jugg i did UE just because I needed to extra movement especially on Sha. Im pretty good at timing my UE right for fury. I use it when lvb is off cd and then if I have a fresh flame shock but no LF proc yet Ill use UE cuz I know the next LF proc is coming soon and my LB's are empowered for that time as well. Im at 94.75% mastery now after some drops last night so Im just gonna stay UF to master my timing with it because if I rely on EB until I get to 100% without proc Im not going to be as good with spending my UE's to their most effective ways.

Do either of you know the exact conversion rating for mastery rating to mastery%? I want to calculate what I'll need for 100% so I can put the rest uneeded into haste for most dps. Im at 94.75% with pieces that arent even 4/4 yet so I wanna have an exact gear plan for that 100% cap

300 rating = 1% Mastery.

 

Also, this is from another post of mine regarding Glyph of Fire Elemental Totem, which I see now that you're using:

 

 

Glyph of Fire Elemental Totem is typically a poor glyph choice, and can actually be a loss.  Think of it this way:

 

If a fight lasts 6 minutes, without the glyph you get 2 uses for 2 mins uptime.  With the glyph, you get 3 uses for 1.5 mins uptime.

 

If a fight lasts under 3 minutes, without the glyph you get 1 use for 1 min uptimes.  With the glyph, you get 2 uses for 30-60 sec uptime.

 

I could never suggest using it unless you're in the odd situation that most of your fights end after 5.5 minutes, and before 6 minutes.  (Or 10.5 minutes and before 11 minutes.)

One that I've played with is Çhubathingy in Royal Militia, if you're looking for a 10m angle.  He plays UF exclusively, maintaining rank ~20 on ProRaiders.  If you could glean anything from anyone, it would be him.

 

I play EB exclusively, again from a 10m angle, and I was maintaining around rank 15 on ProRaiders until I stopped playing for about a month.  If you can find them, my logs may be valuable from an EB point of view.
