Bonus Rolls in WoD: Seals of Tempered Fate

Recommended Posts

Bonus Rolls, introduced in Mists of Pandaria, will be sticking around for Warlords. While inv_misc_coin_18.jpgLesser Charms of Good Fortune currently are the only source for obtaining the 3x inv_arcane_orb.jpgWarforged Seals needed for bonus rolls each, in Warlords of Draenor there will be a variety of different ways to acquire your 3 weekly ability_animusorbs.jpgSeals of Tempered Fate (the WoD equivalent for Warforged Seals). Each of the 6 methods we present in the article awards 1 Seal of Tempered Fate, meaning that you do not need to do each of them every week, merely three.

Learn how to earn Bonus Rolls in Warlords and the new uses for Lesser Charms in 6.0!

Ashran Weekly Turn-ins

Just as with the weekly turn-in for inv_arcane_orb.jpgWarforged Seal, ability_animusorbs.jpgSeal of Tempered Fate are earned on a weekly basis and cap at a maximum of 10 per character at a time. The most common way of obtaining these is through the four weekly quests offered by Arrakoa in Ashran, located within each faction's hub. For Alliance players, Fate-Twister Seress is located at the southern point of Stormshield; for Horde players, Fate-Twister Tiklal is located at the western edge of the long, thin peninsula in the Warspear base.

Sealing Fate: Gold

At a cost of 500 gold, this is perhaps the most straight-forward method of obtaining bonus rolls. In Warlords, gold should be more plentiful and easier to obtain in general than in previous expansions:

Blizzard Icon Watcher, on Gold replacing Valor and Justice for rewards

Honor and Conquest definitely are not going away, just to clarify a misconception - you'll still be earning those currencies through PvP and using them to buy your PvP gear.

What will be going away is Justice and Valor. Over time, they've moved away from their original purpose, and given how widely available they'd become (awarded from quests, scenarios, dungeons, raids, etc.), we'd rather return to the original universal currency: gold. The final values aren't hooked up yet, but the old Valor rewards for completing your daily random dungeon or an LFR wing will be replaced with a hefty sum of gold, which should make something like the gold turn-in for a bonus roll seem far more attainable even for players who currently don't have much gold.

That said, the feedback/suggestion of allowing repeat turn-ins definitely has merit, and it's something we'll discuss and consider.

Sealing Fate: Apexis Crystals

For 1000x inv_apexis_draenor.jpgApexis Crystals, this is another fairly farmable method of getting a bonus roll each week. Apexis Crystals can be earned from many sources, including killing rare spawns throughout Draenor, completing the daily Garrison "Strategic Assault" quest (800), and completing the daily Battle in Ashran quest (1000). The drawback from using this weekly as one of your sources of Seals of Tempered Fate is that, early on at least, Apexis Crystals are a major source of gear upgrades.

Sealing Fate: Garrison Resources

If you have inv_garrison_resource.jpgGarrison Resources to spare, you can choose to spend 200 of them for a weekly bonus roll. As with inv_apexis_draenor.jpgApexis Crystals above, Garrison Resources will be quite at a premium early on in Warlords due to their importance in establishing your Garrison and for the purchase/exchange for other materials used by professions. In addition to earning Garrison Resources while questing, these are also dropped most commonly by rares around Draenor, and via repeatable item turn-ins at your Garrison.

Sealing Fate: Honor

If you are a casual PvPer or just have some to spare, spending 500x pvpcurrency_honor_horde.jpgHonor Points is the fourth Ashran weekly quest option for obtaining bonus rolls. Participating in Ashran battles or queuing for Random Battlegrounds will remain the most efficient ways to farm Honor Points in Warlords.

Garrisons

There are two additional ways in which to earn ability_animusorbs.jpgSeals of Tempered Fate via specific buildings or a bit of RNG inside your Garrison.

Dwarven Bunker / War Mill (Level 3)

Upon leveling a Dwarven Bunker / War Mill to Level 3, you will be provided with one ability_animusorbs.jpgSeal of Tempered Fate per week. As with all Level 3 garrison buildings, the blueprint is tied to a specific achievement. The blueprint for upgrading this garrison building to level 3, inv_garrison_blueprints3.jpgGarrison Blueprint: Dwarven Bunker, Level 3 (Alliance) or inv_garrison_blueprints3.jpgGarrison Blueprint: War Mill, Level 3, requires the achievement achievement_garrisonfollower_levelup20.jFilling the Ranks, which requires that you raise 20 garrison followers to level 100.

Mission: Drov the Ruinder

Drov the Ruiner is a Rare Level 100 Garrison Mission for three of your followers. Given the random nature of missions, it is not advised to plan on having this mission available as a source of one of your bonus rolls every week. Instead if you do happen to get this mission, if you already have procured three ability_animusorbs.jpgSeals of Tempered Fate through other methods in the current week, it is recommended that you hold on to it and not assign followers to complete it until after weekly resets happen.

Lesser Charms - Now For More Than Just Bonus Rolls!

If you're like me and have literally thousands of inv_misc_coin_18.jpgLesser Charms of Good Fortune that you never thought you'd ever be able to spend, there is good news ahead! In addition to being used for inv_arcane_orb.jpgWarforged Seal -- which will have no weekly limit on how many sets of 3 you can purchase -- come 6.0 players will also have the ability to spend 50x Lesser Charms of Good Fortune to upgrade their MoP-level blues and epics one time, the current equivalent of spending 250 pvecurrency_valor.jpgValor Points or 500 pvecurrency_justice.jpgJustice Points. This means that upgrading a Siege of Orgrimmar item to 4/4 will require 200x Lesser Charms of Good Fortune. The major impact of these changes are twofold.

First, you will be able to use a bonus roll on every boss within Siege of Orgrimmar. For those guilds who are looking to the 6.0 changes as the extra boost they need in order to kill Garrosh on Heroic or Mythic for the first time (to secure their raid team's leveling heirloom weapons), or those who are looking to finish gearing out alts in preparation for leveling in Warlords, this will be a pleasant power boost.

Second, this change means that, if members of your raid maintain multiple offsets of gear or manage to snag a bunch of upgrades in the weeks leading up to the launch of Warlords, the only limiting factor in having those items be fully 4/4 upgraded is spending some time grinding out rares on the Timeless Isle! Once again, not being limited to one full upgrade per week will be a welcome power boost.

Here's how you can upgrade your legendary weapons in Dragonflight Season 4 next week!
This one is for Fyr'alath and Nasz'uro owners. You must first farm 2 Antique Bronze Bullions. However, you can only acquire 1 Antique Bronze Bullion per week from Awakened Raid bosses. The bullion will drop in Raid Finder difficulty too.
Next week, the cap will be raised to 2 and a catch-up method will be implemented, so players who didn't have the chance to get their first bullion can get it from the weekly quest in Valdrakken.
Anyway, the soonest you can upgrade your legendary to the base item level of 502 is during the week of April 30th (so next week).
Once you have 2 Antique Bronze Bullions, head to the Parting Glass in Valdrakken.

Evokers need to buy Scale of Awakening from Iszinormi for 2 Antique Bronze Bullions. Death Knights, Paladins, and Warriors need to buy Scale of Awakening from Iszinormi for  2 Antique Bronze Bullions. Once purchased, use the consumable to upgrade your legendary to item level 502, the base item level for Season 4.
After that, you can further upgrade your legendary using Flightstones and crests. Check out our gear upgrading guide for more info!

Cache of Timewarped Treasures obtained from Black Temple Timewalking quest this week has a chance to contain Ashes of Al'ar!
Don't forget to complete this week's Timewalking raid! If you're having trouble getting into a group, create your own one, invite 2 tanks 4-5 healers and around 14 DPS and you are all set! Visit Shattrath, and talk to the Timewalking NPC to queue up for the raid.
The raid is extremely easy to compete and what's more, you get item level 493 loot along your way.
Upon defeating Illidan Stormrage and completing the quest, you will receive Cache of Timewarped Treasures that has an increased chance of containing Ashes of Al'ar or another piece of gear.
Demon Hunters shouldn't forget to get their warglaives transmog arsenal from Illidan and the reputation buff will help you add a couple of mounts to your collection!

The WeakAura is very useful for keeping track of everything in the game at max level. It shows you a to-do list with the weekly tasks, provides you with the locations of rares, super rares, information about your current Renown standing, and more.

You will find Tama's Dragonflight Helper at wago.io. Please note that you must first download and install WeakAuras 2 to import the string.

Cataclysm's Grim Batol has been added to the Mythic+ Dungeon rotation in The War Within Season 1, and one boss received a brand new model recently on the Alpha.
General Umbriss, the first boss of the dungeon, got a shiny new model, which is quite different from his previous one. Below is a screenshot of the old a new model.
