Raiding Resto Druid help

Recommended Posts

So I've been raiding Highmaul since it came out as a Resto Druid. I thought I was doing well, topping the charts and making good progression with my Raid team. Recently I pugged a Heroic group and I was the bottom healer as well as running oom about half way through Butcher. Our raid logger has been unreliable but a few of our runs were loged here (https://www.warcraftlogs.com/guilds/28912 if you don't see it go back to december).

As you can see I'm usually top or in second place by a small margin. The problem is even on normal I noticed I had more trouble with mana than others, this manifested itself in heroic with the scenario I posted above.

My main heals that I casted were Regrowth, Rejuv, Lifebloom, Mushroom, and wildgrowth. Using genesis as needed. This keeps me high on my raid groups charts but seems to drain my mana fast.

During the pug I asked the other resto druid what he was doing and asked for some tips. He told me to use Rejuv more, don't use regrowth, keep harmony and lifebloom up and to keep mushroom down. Then he also said to use wildgrowth as needed.

The issue is, I now am doing low healing in my main group raid and when I tried his tips in the heroic my healing was still bad. I have more mana now but I do way less healing than before.

As I type this my raid group is taking 10 minutes and we just finished Brackenspore, I finished 2nd/3 but I barely beat 3rd and 1st beat my healing done and hps by a great amount.

I guess I'm asking what I should do to heal as much as I was before, being in the top 2, but not go oom.

In Kargath-Bracken I was never top heals (and I was never a contender for it). I kept harmony up at least 90% of the time, lifebloom probably 75-80%. My top 3 heals were Rejuv, Wild Growth, and Tranquility. I didn't go oom but I am just not pumping out the healing I should. I am only doing about 25k HPS. The only way I've found with this method, to get top heals spot, is to spam rejuv and put germination on everyone then hitting genesis but once again that leads to going oom.

Halp

edit: If you look at previous logs I'm doing less hps but it's because between those attempts and the most recent ones I've gotten 2 heroic pieces, 2 660 pieces, and 1 LFR upgrade from 630 to 640. So that is possibly accounting for the difference. Also those are obviously overall, and I just checked overall for Recount and I'm only doing 16k so I must have just done more on Brack because of the mushrooms.

Kinda makes sense if you are doing more healing you are using more mana. Seems like you just need to find the balance for the different fights. Druid's have some great AOE healing, however, it isn't so good for BURST aoe healing. Most the heals are HoT's so you can't pick multiple people up quickly without dishing out some mana.

As far as I know, regrowth shouldn't be used as a normal rotation spell but used as a bigger heal during high damage. To keep a steady flow of heals coming in healing touch would work, but obviously wouldn't provide as much health. But the logic still stands, the more mana you use the more healing you will get.

Healing is all about the situation. Just got to learn to balance it with the other healers and the fight. If you are looking for an "easy top heals but with no mana loss" I don't think you will be find it.

Hi,

I've checked your logs of the Heroic Butcher fight and the older ones from normal. Biggest issue: Wild Growth.

With WoD you should limit usage on this spell extremely since it costs around 12k Mana and often doing massive overheal. Since you've take Germination, most of the fights your top heal will be Rejuv/Germination. In some fights, like Tectus and Twin Ogrons, Wild Growth comes in Handy since the damage is steady and the group isn't stacked (which means your Mushroom isn't sufficient).

As you said, you're using Genesis to push your HPS. This is way more useless than using Wild Growth on CD. Genesis doesn't give you more heal - it just takes the amount left on your Rejuvs and then releases it within 1 or 2 seconds. At the cost of 23,3% of your base mana, you don't have additional healing but only faster healing. Which is nice for your HPS but a complete waste on your mana and usability as a healer in a fight since this will definitely make you go OOM sooner. Just don't use Genesis outside of real emergencies.

Butcher specific:

For reference, my take on Butcher Heroic from last saturday in a PuG: Log

Surely the group was not too badly geared but for an impression on the rotation it should fit well enough. Usually me and the Holy Pally are 2-healing this fight in our 13 man main raid - my rotation basically keeps the same besides I'm of course using Tranq and Tree of Life which I didn't need to in this specific fight.

Three things for Butcher which are very important:

  1. Rejuv on the tanks and the group currently soaking the cleave
  2. A close to 100% Uptime of your Mushroom in the Melee/Tank camp
  3. Mana Channel-Potion during Bounding Cleave (not the instant pot - you've got the time!)

General feedback for the fight regarding your output problems:

  • Better lifebloom Uptime (more Clearcasting-Proccs)
  • Incarnation skilled but not used (would have saved a lot of Mana besides giving more throughput)
  • Tranq this early in the fight means you're having general healing issues in your team. If at all I only use it during Frenzy
  • More Uptime on Mushroom. Should be lying all the time on the melee camps, makes a lot of your heal

General feedback regarding Talents/Glyphs/Gear:

Considering your current Armory Gear is your Resto-Gear (you're in Resto-Specc):

  • No Spirit on Neck, 1 Ring and 1 Trinket
  • No Weapon Enchant (with your Mana problems at least the Spirit-Enchant should be taken)

But could also be Balance Gear regarding the amount of crit on your items. Dunno.

  • Glyph of Healing Rejuvenation: Currently you don't use Healing touch that much - I guess this comes later in the addon with way more haste. At this time, Regrowth (even unglyphed) is more effective if you need to cast direct heals. Remove the Glyph, use something more useful
  • Glyph for the bigger Battle Rezz instead of leaving one slot free

Besides all of that, your Holy Pally should also work on his throughput. Especially for Butcher, almost any good Holy Pally I've been healing with has out-healed me by a lot. They do for the most fights in Highmaul. If he's been on 655 (or close) on the day you provided the logs of, he definitely has issues, too.

Since especially Butcher is a very DPS/HPS intensive fight, every underperforming healer causes issues for the others since you're pulling emergency heals (like Wild Growth, Genesis, Regrowth without OoC-Procc, or Tranq way to soon) to compensate and therefore wasting lots of Mana. Maybe you should address this in your healer team.

Generally, you seem to keep your rotation of healing through all the fights, which you shouldn't. For reference, my log of Heroic Brackenspore (Normal-Mode healing would look the same, rotation remains). Basically, you're healing the tanks and then spamming Regrowth on the Green and Blue Shrooms (especially on the blue ones, to maximize uptime).

Try to adjust your healing to the fight, get your gear ready with enchants and gems and try to get some Spirit-Items on the respective slots as long as you have mana issues. And try to not top heal meters. That's not the point of healing. If your group made it through the fight and you have not gone OOM by 75% of the fight, you're doing a good job.

I am going the corpselance support build for Necromancer and the build has me taking Corpselance with Brittle and the pestilence set on top of that, if I were to take off the ability Corpselance and change it to another ability say for example Bone Spikes with Frost spikes, would the damage decrease an amount that it would not be worth it?

Hey everybody! So the other day, I decided to make a 5-minute guide on how to play the Warrior class in WoW. It's not super in-depth, but I just wanted some good feedback from the Warrior community on this. Lemme know what you guys think! I also hope that this is able to help somebody out there.   ?

So i heard about primal ancients, and i m kinda desperate to get it. Why? It can make my Demon Hunter even powerful then he is now (I deal about 35m damage) So how do you get them? I know how though. Get in a GR 70 and do it Solo, but how do you do it actually? How much do you need to farm this for? A week? A month? A YEAR? The point is, i want primal ancients, and have NO IDEA how to farm them :// so... i need a bit of help for farming :))

I'm new to using icy-veins, and I cannot seem to get used to navigating the WoW class guides. Why is stat info the 13th section of the guides, but max level content 6th through 12th? Where do I find comparisons between specs?
