WoW Midnight Early Access Has Big Limits Players Need to Know

The Midnight Early Access starts in only a few short hours. Content release is staggered prior to the official launch on March 2nd. Learn what you can do in the Midnight Early Access!

Leveling Main Campaign and Midnight Renown

The main thing players can do is level their characters in Midnight. Players will start their campaign with a short introduction questline in the Isle of Quel’Danas, followed by the Eversong Woods zone. After completing the main storyline in Eversong Woods, you can choose where to go next. The following main storylines can be completed in any order:

  • Zul’Aman
  • Harandar
  • Arator’s Journey

After completing the three storylines, we embark on the last Midnight zone, Voidstorm. The initial Voidstorm questline requires Level 88.

Completing quests in the four Midnight zones is one of the ways to earn Renown with the four Midnight factions: Silvermoon Court, Amani Tribe, Hara’ti, and The Singularity. Learn more about how to earn reputation with these factions with our Midnight Renown Guides:

Extra Talent Points and Apex Talents

Through leveling in Midnight, players will earn 10 extra talent points – 4 Spec Talent Points, 3 Class Talent Points, and 3 Hero Talent Points. With these points, you can fully fill your Hero Talents (which have received a fourth row with 12.0), and can invest in Apex Talents.

Apex Talents are a new talent node located at the tail end of the Specialization Talent Tree. You can start adding points to your Apex talents at Level 81. Apex Talents have 4 ranks and add a new element to your specialization.

However, if you wish, you are able to instead spend the 4 extra Spec Talent Points into other talents in your tree and ignore Apex Talents entirely.

Unlock the Haranir Allied Race – Creation Locked on Early Access

Blizzard has stated that the Haranir Allied Race will not be available for creation during the Midnight Early Access.

However, you will be able to unlock them during Early Access by completing the achievement Allied Race: Haranir iconAllied Race: Haranir. This will allow you to create a Haranir character on the official launch on March 2. Learn more about the Haranir on our dedicated guide:

Delves and Prey – Limited Access

Both Delves and the Prey system will be available in the Midnight Early Access, with limitations:

  • Delves will be limited to Tier 3 until the start of Midnight Season 1 on March 17.
    • Not all Delves will be available with the Early Access or the official launch. The Darkway will open on March 17 with the release of Midnight Season 1, and Parhelion Plaza will open on March 31 with the release of the March on Quel’Danas raid.+
  • Prey hunts will be limited to Normal Mode for Midnight Early Access. Hard Mode is unlocked at completion of Preyseeker’s Journey Rank 1, available at the official launch on March 2.

These limitations mean Delves will cap out at Adventurer level rewards for the Early Access. πLearn more about Delves and the new Prey System on our dedicated guides.

World Events – Limited Access

Note: It is currently unknown how World Events will act in the Midnight Early Access. We’re speculating based on how World Events worked during the War Within Early Access. Once Early Access begins and we reach World Events, this section will be updated accordingly.

World Events should be available during the Midnight Early Access. However, they have limitations when it comes to their weekly rewards:

  • Saltheril’s Soiree: You can choose a faction to represent, but the Fortify the Runestones weeklies will not be available.
  • Abundance: You can participate in Abundance caves, but the Abundant Offering weekly quest will not be available.
  • Legends of the Haranir: You cannot partake in this event during Early Access.
  • Stormarion Assault: You can participate in Stormarion Assaults, but the weekly quest will not be available.
  • Special Assignments: These will appear as normal, but during Early Access, the cache rewards will give reduced loot.

Learn more about them in our dedicated guide:

Midnight Professions – Available, But No Weekly Quests

Midnight professions can be learned and leveled up during the Early Access. However, there are some limitations that can make leveling up harder. These include no patron orders and no weekly quests to earn specialization points.

Still, Early Access is a good way to earn materials and some gold at the start of the expansion! You can learn more about professions in our dedicated guides:

Start Working on the Midnight Expansion Meta Achievement

For a few expansions now, Blizzard has added achievements spanning activities for the entirety of an expansion. Midnight already shows signs of this via the achievement Light Up the Night iconLight Up the Night.

We have prepared a dedicated Midnight Expansion Meta-Achievement guide, complete with the 12.0 meta achievement guide! This guide will continue to be updated throughout the expansion with any new additions.

Note: The Darkmoon Faire

The Darkmoon Faire will start on Sunday, March 1st, during the Early Access period. This means players will have access to the WHEE! iconWHEE! Buff that grant 10% Experience and Reputation gains before the official launch.
