The Midnight expansion provides a variety of max-level World Events that rotate regularly, offering a range of rewards. This page provides a complete overview of each event, explaining how they work and what to expect, as well as links to our more in-depth guides.
Introduction
World Events in the Midnight expansion are activities you can complete around the open world for rewards, typically on a weekly schedule. They are available when you reach maximum level. Some may be gated behind additional Renown requirements.
Midnight Patch 12.1 World Events
Midnight Patch 12.1: The Curse of Ula'Tek arrives with an entire new island for players to explore, as we follow the story of Zul'jan and Zul'jarra. Step through the murky mists of Zul'Aman onto the poisonous banks of the Coiled Isle, meeting new allies, and battling a host of new and venomous foes.
Learn everything you need to know about the Coiled Isle in our new guide:
The Vaults of Atal'Utek
Deep within the mountains of the Coiled Isle lie the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Here you can discover and these hallowed halls, and find increasingly difficult rares and public events. Work together with other players from your server to deal with small-scale incursions, and even periodic boss fights.
As players explore the Vaults week after week, they will make progress on a zone-specific, outdoor-only talent tree at the Altar of Corrosion. The Altar's enhancements make the Vaults less hostile and easier to traverse over time, and they also work inside Delves!
Dive into our full Vaults of Atal'Utek guide before you embark on your first expedition through these venom-filled corridors!
Cursed Fishing and Captain Tokka
For this event we follow and resolve a rising tide of Cursed beasts across the Coiled Isle. For the duration of Cursed Surges, rare elites will spawn at locations around the Isle; every elite killed will unlock Cursed Fishing at the location of the kill.
Unlocking Cursed Fishing introduces you to Captain Tokka and his crew, who will instruct players to fish increasingly Cursed waters the more you earn their trust. If you feel ready to meet the wizened Tortollan captain and his cursed crew, make sure to check out our detailed Captain Tokka Reputation guide.
Lairs
Meet Lairs, the newest iteration in world boss AND flex raiding tech, brought together for the first time on the Coiled Isle. Lairs are instanced encounters with scaling difficulty all the way up to Mythic; remarkably, they also scale from 15 to 25 players. Much like Delves, Lairs are located at specific locations, though they also have external Summoning Stones much like a standard raid. Lairs are intended to replace the standard World Bosses as a unique and much more flexible and scalable way to gear up and experience content.
The first Lair boss to be introduced into the game is Nymrissa Wavecaller in The Tidebound Grotto, located in a watery cave beneath the Coiled Isle. "World Difficulty" Nymrissa Wavecaller is accessible on the week of August 11. Flex Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties open the following week, starting August 18, alongside other raid activities and the begin of the second Mythic+ and PvP seasons.
For the full rundown on Nymrissa Wavecaller's mechanics, visit our World Bosses guide!
Abundance
Abundance events spawn in select caverns in each of the four Midnight zones, and rotate locations every 8 hours. Once at an Abundance cave, speaking with Dundun, the Loa of Abundance, begins the event.
Once you have begun an Abundance event, you are granted only 3 minutes to loot as much treasure as possible from the cave around you; you may loot mobs and mine from Abundance nodes to do so. However, your carrying capacity is quite limited, so you must routinely return to Dundun with your haul. Your speed and carrying capacity increase the more you loot.
Using a
Shard of Dundun Empowers your Abundance run, earning you
Unalloyed Abundance
when you complete the event. Unalloyed Abundance is tradable to Chel the Chip,
who spawns outside active Abundance caves. You can purchase transmog, profession
knowledge items, and housing decor. You can collect up to 8 Shards of Dundun per
week from outdoor activities, gathering, and Patron Crafting Orders.
The Weekly Quest, Weekly: Abundance, requires that you earn 20,000 total
points in Abundance events, and rewards
Overflowing Abundant Satchel, and
1,000 reputation with the Amani Tribe.

Salheril's Soiree
Saltheril's Soiree is a weekly event in Eversong Woods, though it requires a short quest chain to open. You will find the introductory quest, Saltheril's Haven, in Silvermoon City. Upon reaching Saltheril, you will need to complete Honored Guests, and High Esteem before the event is unlocked.
Once you have unlocked the Soiree, you have four different subfactions to choose from: the Magisters, Blood Knights, Farstriders and Shades of the Row. Each faction has 6 reputation ranks requiring 500 total reputation per rank. Every week, you will be tasked with choosing a subfaction to represent at the Soiree. Your quests and actions that week CAN hurt your standing with other subfactions, so choose carefully!
Saltheril's Soiree begins with two Weekly Quests, but progressing through the
faction levels can unlock more. The quest Fortify the Runestones grants a
pinnacle chest,
Surplus Bag of Party Favors, containing 150
Brimming Arcana,
300 reputation with your chosen subfaction, and 2,000 Silvermoon Court reputation.
The other quest, Favor of the Court, rewards 3
Saltheril's Favor,
which is used to unlock new weeklies with the subfaction of your choosing.
Brimming Arcana is a popular currency for the Blood Elves. Each subfaction's quartermaster offers an impressive array of cosmetics, housing decor, and crafting recipes in exchange for Brimming Arcana, as does the Silvermoon Court quartermaster.
For more information on the Silvermoon Court, find our renown guide below:
Legends of the Haranir
Legends of the Haranir is a weekly World Event that takes place in Harandar. Each week, you will choose one of seven relics of the Hara'ti people, and play through the history of that relic via a scenario.
The Weekly Quest associated with Legends of the Haranir is Lost Legends,
and can be found at the Den in Harandar. Upon completion, you will receive
Avid Learner's Supply Pack,
which counts as a Midnight Weekly Cache, granting 1,000 Hara'ti reputation and a
housing decor item based on your relic choice that week. Additional decor is purchasable
from Maku at the Den, as long as you have completed the associated Weekly.

Stormarion Assault
Stormarion Assault is the Voidstorm Weekly Event in which you defend Stormarion Citadel against a Devouring Host void attack. This is a relatively fast-paced, tower defense-type event that occurs every 30 minutes, alternating between a few phases.
In Phase 1, players are given five minutes to gather at the Citadel arena and
set up defenses, which cost
Stormarion Core to assemble. In Phase 2, players
three waves of enemy attackers who must be prevented from reaching the Singularity
Anchor at the center of the arena. Players have one minute to rest and refresh
between each enemy wave.
Players can loot Stormarion Cores from chests and quests around Stormarion Citadel, and these cores can be used to assemble defenses or purchase defense items from Xy'dax, who stands in the arena.
The associated weekly quest, Stand Your Ground, requires you to successfully
defend the Citadel against attack, after which you are awarded a
Victorious Stormarion Pinnacle Cache.

Prey
Prey is a unique new style of world content, an open-world hunting system designed to allow players to tailor their difficulty and track dangerous foes as throughout Midnight's zones. For each foe tracked and dispatched, players can earn unique Achievements, transmog, mounts, and housing decor, in addition to Great Vault credit similar to that of Delve loot.
To explore the rewards or enable Prey, visit Astalor Bloodsworn in Murder Row, Silvermoon City. To learn more about the system, check out our full guide:
World Bosses
As with every new expansion, Midnight brings us four new World Bosses, one in each zone. These bosses are killable once per week, and reward Champion-quality loot.
Read about each World Boss and its strategy in the guide below:
With Patch 12.0.7, players will also have access to two new World Bosses in the rotating Showdown Zones of Naigtal and Val. For a complete overview on these two new zones, head to our guide below:
Other World Events
Midnight's first content patch, the Lingering Shadows Patch 12.0.5, introduces several new open world events for players to explore, from further fights against the Void to a different sort of fish to fry entirely!
Abyss Anglers
Suit up, grab your spear, and seek out Depthdiver Jeju off the Eastern coast of Zul'Aman to begin your deep sea journey with the Abyss Anglers! Players begin each excursion at full oxygen, and spear fish, discover mysterious new sea creatures, dive for sunken treasure, and more, to rack up the score. Upgrade your gear to venture even further out for better treasure.
Successful dives will net players
Angler Pearls, tradeable for new armor
sets, housing decor, pets, and even a new floppy fish mace! To learn everything there is
to know about Abyss Anglers, check out our guide:
Void Assaults
Though she's down after her temporary defeat in March on Quel'Danas, Xal'atath is never out. Void-sworn forces are amassing new attacks across Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman, and it is once again up to the players to stop them!
Void Assault activities across the world reward
Field Accolades, which
can be exchanged for new Void-themed housing decor, pets, mounts, and most notably,
void-infused recolors of the Tier 2 remasters.
Void Strikes
Void Strikes are smaller, targeted attacks occurring weekly in Eversong Woods or Zul'Aman. Once players have defeated a Void Strike, a new one will begin in another area of the same zone. Void Strikes are small and easily-handled solo or by just a few players.
Void Incursions
The Voidbound forces, perhaps rather unwisely, announce their desired Incursion location on the map far ahead of time. As players handle Void Strikes in the zone, the Incursion bar fills, resulting in an Incursion attack once the completion bar reaches 100.
Void Incursions are much larger assaults, and will require many more players to fully defeat them!

A Fiery Blast From the Past
Loa of Fire Jan'alai's return to Zul'Aman has also reignited ancient traditions for the Amani Trolls. Help Jan'alai welcome her first new clutch of eggs into the world by assisting Loa Speaker Brek in his ceremony preparations. Then, usher the new little loa hatchlings safely into the world.
This is a very short quest chain which will take no time at all, but is rich in lore and rewards a very cute and adventurous little Dragonhawk hatchling pet, Emberlyn. The questline begins with It Takes Two.
Showdown Zones
Each week, the player must mount a defense against building Void troops in either
the strange fungal forests of Naigtal or the frozen wastelands of Val. Face two new
World Bosses, conquer patrolling rare enemies, complete new World Quests, and play
through invasions much like the planetary invasions we thwarted on Argus. In return,
you will earn
Field Accolades,
Relic Coffer Key Fragments, gold, Crests,
brand new decor pieces, and transmog.
