Im back, and need some quick guidance, ret pve

6 posts in this topic

Hi guys,

I just re-fired up my account, thought I was done for good, but nah... i can't quit this game!

Here is a link to my armory:  http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/gilneas/Svenolaf/simple

The new xpac is really different than I'm used to.  I need help with glyphs, a decent leveling build, and some general info on gear I should be working on.  Oh, yeah, whats up with the new stats?!?  no hit?!?  damn... I'm thinking about re-rolling just so I can re-learn all the changes.

I feel like there have been some massive changes to the game since I last played and most google searches I find send back rather vague and overly broad info about the 6.0 pre patch.

Also, are any ret's out there using CLCret anymore?  if so, where can i find a decent lvl 90 string to use as I level?

Please help.  Anything is good.  I was a pretty decent player back in the day, so I should be able to figure most stuff out fairly quickly.

TIA, and I appreciate the time spent reading this.

I didnt play pandaria a lot, but here some difference with drenor:

No hit, mastery need if you attack bofss from behind. If you attack not from behind - boss will parry/block and dodge.

No reforge.

New gear system - boss in heroic dungeon(5 ppl) can drop 630 item, but you have a chance get reforged item 636 lvl. Also you have a chance to get equip with socket(even trinket). For Highmaul raid normal 655 itmlvl it coud be 661 reforged. So item coud be reforged or with soket or both. Also item coud be with "lifeleach/move speed/etc" - usless stats.

You want items with mastery, its your best stat. After mastery you probably want haste/crit/multi. Versality not good stat, at least with low gear lvl(<680 for shure). But first of all - strenght is best for you. So first of all bust your itmlvl(couse it will give you more str).

http://www.wowdb.com/talent-calculator#ZZzPb0NaOGr1L- this is your build for lvling.

About rotations addons and other stuff you coud read here - http://www.icy-veins.com/wow/retribution-paladin-pve-dps-guide

Legendary quest for 640-680-690-710(or 700 do not remember) ring. First quest you will get in your garrison at 98lvl, so u probably wont miss it(orange sign at "void" mob). After you get it you shoud go to one normal dungeon and you will get 640 ring. After this you will need end 3 heroic dungeons, so you will get 680 ring. For 690 ring you shoud go to HighMaul raid, kill 2 last boses and collect ~100 items wich drops from all boses in HM. And last ring - quest for BlackROckFoundry raid.

So for now - get 640 at 98, and 680 at 100.

Heirloom only for 85lvl, at 25 feb will be patch 6.1 there will be new heirloom system, so you coud graid it to 100 lvl, but it will cost gold.

Also you can read this about gearing - http://www.wowhead.com/guides/gear/wod/gearing-up-in-warlords-of-draenor

I reccomend you questing in nagrand(when your garrison send you there), couse there is highest itmlvl rewards for quests, so it will be easier for you to hit 610 itmlvl, which you need for heroic dungeons, and 615 for LfR highmaul.

Also you coud try challange-dungeons, it will award you(daily quest) with 640 gear.

Or you coud buy some gear from AH, it cost not rly much now.

Also there is 3 worldboses, but 2 of them with same CD. so you coud kill 2 boses and get 640 and 665(or 55 do not remember) gear also.

For leveling i never go to nagrand, i think it's faster to stay in spires. i go 90-92 frostfire ridge/shadowmoon valley, 94-96 gorgrond (This can be done in under 40 minutes if you just do objective quests), and then 94-96 or 97 in talador, and finally 97-100 in spires. It takes under 10 hours (8 normally)

And for gear and specc, look at the guides on this site, they are really helpfull.

And depending on your amount of gold and your server price, it can be helpfull to buy a couple 640 ilvl pieces to level with, (weapon and trinket helps the most)

It's okay not go to nagrand, if you will buy some equip, but if you dont - it's will take time to get itmlvl. When i start play(first days of draenor) i dont have enough money for 640 items(it was like 20k for one item), and i have to quest in nagrand and farm dungeons, it was rly annoing. Maby in spires you coud hit 610-615 lvl for heroic and lfr, but as i remember, i didnt.

Methodical is in search of dedicated players that are looking to push content in a semi-hardcore environment. All of our raiders try to be on a first-name basis with each other. All-in-all we are looking for players willing to: consistently improve their performance, take responsibility, and synergize with a group of players. If this interests you, all of our info is below.

Location: Horde – US Connected Realms: The Venture Co - Maelstrom - Lightninghoof
      About us:
Converge has been around since WoW Vanilla and has been raiding together since Molten Core; most of our members have been playing together for years. In its older days, when most of us where young, we were more raid focused and demanded a lot from our members. Over the years we had to adjust our playtime and priorities with a growing list of RL responsibilities and are now, for all intents and purposes, a semi-casual raiding guild.
At this point in time we are trying to round out our roster and eventually attempt Mythic raids once we feel comfortable with our raid composition.
      Raid Times: 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM Eastern Time – Monday/Tuesday.
Recruitment: Currently we are only accepting Ranged DPS / Heals

I play in Asia, since I got back to China, with the great firewall of China, its such a pain to still stay in US servers.

please note that this is not a power build, but can perform pretty well.

      Anyway, lets start.

The game is full of archon wizards and flashfire wizards, it will be fresh to see some new variations, after some testing, so I came up with this: the CC Blaster.
A build can CC the entire screen and hit really hard while teleport around untouched with 5 times of your life shield on! Sound to good to be true ;)
      Read on.

      ----------------------
      Skills:
Primary: Magic Missile: Conflagrate Secondary: Arcane Orb: Obliteration Button 1: Blizzard: Frozen Solid Button 2: Black Hole: Supermassive Button 3: Teleport: Calamity Button 4: Slow Time: Point of Return

      Passive:
      Galvanizing Ward;  Arcane Dynamo;  Evocation;  Unstable Anomaly;

(Teleport: Reversal is also an awesome rune, but it is really bad for travel and easily messed up when in dire situation making panic error happens a lot, if you perform well, Reversal can makes you pop out from nowhere and gone for the mobs with infinite teleports 1 second CD, seeing mobs mindless chase you back and forth, especially with Slow time to Slow/stun and making enemy missile slow motion, managing the battle field )

You hit pretty hard with Obliteration rune, can 2-shot anything in TX including Rift Guardians, most will die in one hit.

      --------------------------
Tal Rasha 6 set proc with the following skills:

{Fire} Magic Missile: Conflagrate {Arcane} Arcane Orb: Obliteration {Cold} Blizzard: Frozen Solid {Lightning}: Black Hole: Supermassive {Option Arcane}: Teleport: Calamity

      ------------------------
      Gears:
[Tal Rasha 5 sets] with [Royal Ring] for full set bonus [Delsere 3 sets] with [Royal Ring] for up to 4 set Bonus [Bastion will Ring set] for signature spell & spenders alteration damage increase. [Unstable Scepter Wand] for Arcane Orb double trigger. [Triumvirate Source] for 600% Arcane Orb damage increase. [Ashnagarr's Blood Bracer] for 520% life of shield increase

(Note: tal belt & tal amulet must be taken, as it is a un-conflicting slot; others are by choices as long as the two sets bonus goal is achieved, tal armor also need to be taken for the IAS roll)

      ---------------
      In Cube:
Mirrorball (3 conflagrate missile) The Shame of Delsere (AP Rege & Faster Speed of Magic Missile) Ring of Royal Grandeur (make wearing two sets possible)

(you may use the aether walker teleport no cd in weapon slot. but with so many spell u need to cast and rotate, its pointless to have a no-cd teleport in most situations.
also, since you cast so many magic missiles so might as well increase its damage potential.

in-geom is not needed, since spawn cc will have diminishing returns, and you can't use teleport too often with spells need to rotating.

The Furnace in the other hand is a good choice if you need more elites damage.)

      --------------
      Gem:
Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard (200% life shield) Simplicity's Strength (increase signature damage and reliable heal) Gogok of Swiftness (for IAS & CDR)

      ------------------------------
      Basic function layout as below:

      Offense (with Gogok Gem IAS)
      1. Arcane Orb: Obliteration  2. Magic Missile: Conflagrate /with Mirrorball & Simplicity Gem 3. Tal set meteors 4. Arcane Dynamo Passive & Triumvirate Souce Combo 5. Bastion Will Ring Set.

      Defense
      1. Tal set 4 set bonus 2. Tal set 6 set bonus 3. Del set 4 set bonus 4. Galvanizing Ward with Blood Bracer 5. Molten Wildbeest Gem with Blood Bracer

      Mobility
      1. Teleport with CDR & Gogok Gem

      Life Rege
      1. LoH with fast IAS 2. Life Rege with not taking damage (Molten Wildebeest Gem) 3. Magic Missle with Simplicity Gem

      CC
      1. Freeze CC with {Blizzard: Frozen Solid} 2. Disable CC with {Blackhole: Supermassive} 3. Stun CC with {teleport: Calamity} 4. Slow CC with {Slow Time} 5. Stun CC with {Slow Time: Point of No Return}

With all five CC you can make the whole screen disabled!
      ------------------------

Build favors Cooldown reduction & Attack Speed

IAS makes your AP Rege super fast, and making magic Missile a viable AOE skill, and you can move out your location faster.

CDR makes your an acceptable teleport cooldown and can span blackhole to gather for Arcane Orb Obliteration kill.
Obliteration also is the fastest travel rune.

That concludes the guide, I'm on low paragon level and can not test beyond TX Rift. If anyone interested, can test it out on high GRs for end game performance.
So far it is a fun build to play.

Just keep in mind that you are a ranged Blaster build, need CC to survive. You will be crashed if you go into Melee range. So be careful with your teleport as it still has close to 4 secs CD with CDR.
If you need to teleport on top of mobs to disable mob skill, followed by blizzard freeze is recommanded.

      Any feedback is welcome.

Undaunted Gaming League is a family based guild, that means most of us have families and careers and are unable to play WoW at all times, that is recruiting players to band together for core teams. We would like to form teams for arena, RBG's, Daily Mythic dungeons, raid progression, gold making, and even battle pets. Even if you are a casual player that is looking to socialize, or want a team to work together on professions, we would like to help you help us.

I will NOT be using BoS in 7.1.5...  why?
      http://www.wowhead.com/item=132459/perseverance-of-the-ebon-martyr
      Build:
      http://www.wowhead.com/talent-calc/death-knight/frost/cj7z
Basically with the combination of Gathering Storm (extended RW) and fitting more Rime into that time period I'm hoping that my M+ hybrid spec will remain competitive and the sims thus far seem to support the theory.
If you have the helm too, grats! and look forward to the major increase in it's power with Freezing Fog +30% and Tier 19 based around more Rime and more RP from Rime we should see many viable builds popping up on logs. **Stay with FP for now until you have T19 x 2 - see updated build link ^^
Why not BoS and Hungering? ... well, I'm looking for big Rime crits and don't fancy the long CD to manage. I also want to remain powerful in M+ which should be the case with this build... I'm pretty sure I can become more useful with Winter is Coming + extended RW... stunning mobs for the whole of PoF uptime.
Obliteration will be used to maximise rune spam for Gathering Storm.
      Lets hear your thoughts?
