Im back, and need some quick guidance, ret pve

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I just re-fired up my account, thought I was done for good, but nah... i can't quit this game!

Here is a link to my armory:  http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/gilneas/Svenolaf/simple

The new xpac is really different than I'm used to.  I need help with glyphs, a decent leveling build, and some general info on gear I should be working on.  Oh, yeah, whats up with the new stats?!?  no hit?!?  damn... I'm thinking about re-rolling just so I can re-learn all the changes.

I feel like there have been some massive changes to the game since I last played and most google searches I find send back rather vague and overly broad info about the 6.0 pre patch.

Also, are any ret's out there using CLCret anymore?  if so, where can i find a decent lvl 90 string to use as I level?

Please help.  Anything is good.  I was a pretty decent player back in the day, so I should be able to figure most stuff out fairly quickly.

TIA, and I appreciate the time spent reading this.

I didnt play pandaria a lot, but here some difference with drenor:

No hit, mastery need if you attack bofss from behind. If you attack not from behind - boss will parry/block and dodge.

No reforge.

New gear system - boss in heroic dungeon(5 ppl) can drop 630 item, but you have a chance get reforged item 636 lvl. Also you have a chance to get equip with socket(even trinket). For Highmaul raid normal 655 itmlvl it coud be 661 reforged. So item coud be reforged or with soket or both. Also item coud be with "lifeleach/move speed/etc" - usless stats.

You want items with mastery, its your best stat. After mastery you probably want haste/crit/multi. Versality not good stat, at least with low gear lvl(<680 for shure). But first of all - strenght is best for you. So first of all bust your itmlvl(couse it will give you more str).

http://www.wowdb.com/talent-calculator#ZZzPb0NaOGr1L- this is your build for lvling.

About rotations addons and other stuff you coud read here - https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/retribution-paladin-pve-dps-guide

Legendary quest for 640-680-690-710(or 700 do not remember) ring. First quest you will get in your garrison at 98lvl, so u probably wont miss it(orange sign at "void" mob). After you get it you shoud go to one normal dungeon and you will get 640 ring. After this you will need end 3 heroic dungeons, so you will get 680 ring. For 690 ring you shoud go to HighMaul raid, kill 2 last boses and collect ~100 items wich drops from all boses in HM. And last ring - quest for BlackROckFoundry raid.

So for now - get 640 at 98, and 680 at 100.

Heirloom only for 85lvl, at 25 feb will be patch 6.1 there will be new heirloom system, so you coud graid it to 100 lvl, but it will cost gold.

Also you can read this about gearing - http://www.wowhead.com/guides/gear/wod/gearing-up-in-warlords-of-draenor

I reccomend you questing in nagrand(when your garrison send you there), couse there is highest itmlvl rewards for quests, so it will be easier for you to hit 610 itmlvl, which you need for heroic dungeons, and 615 for LfR highmaul.

Also you coud try challange-dungeons, it will award you(daily quest) with 640 gear.

Or you coud buy some gear from AH, it cost not rly much now.

Also there is 3 worldboses, but 2 of them with same CD. so you coud kill 2 boses and get 640 and 665(or 55 do not remember) gear also.

For leveling i never go to nagrand, i think it's faster to stay in spires. i go 90-92 frostfire ridge/shadowmoon valley, 94-96 gorgrond (This can be done in under 40 minutes if you just do objective quests), and then 94-96 or 97 in talador, and finally 97-100 in spires. It takes under 10 hours (8 normally)

And for gear and specc, look at the guides on this site, they are really helpfull.

And depending on your amount of gold and your server price, it can be helpfull to buy a couple 640 ilvl pieces to level with, (weapon and trinket helps the most)

It's okay not go to nagrand, if you will buy some equip, but if you dont - it's will take time to get itmlvl. When i start play(first days of draenor) i dont have enough money for 640 items(it was like 20k for one item), and i have to quest in nagrand and farm dungeons, it was rly annoing. Maby in spires you coud hit 610-615 lvl for heroic and lfr, but as i remember, i didnt.

Alright my first build... Here we go!
Now Necromancers aren't my 'main' classes but i play with them and im pretty good with them. And i come up with a build that is a bit boring, but ultra powerful, so lets begin!
      1. Primary Attack, Primary attack should be bone spikes with the rune: Path of bones or Blood spikes. Why? Blood spikes are for people that lose health really quickly, and the blood spikes allow you to heal over the bleeding enemies you hit. Path of bones on the other hand is for people who have a lot of enemies in your way. Or you can have no rune, which i mildly recommend for people who are already strong just want to be a bit stronger :))
      2. Secondary Attack. Should be Bone spear with the rune: Teeth or Blighted Marrow. Teeth is the one that i recommend for most people to use, why? Teeth fires more bone spears trough enemies, of course it deals not much damage but it damages more enemies. Plus, you can get an achievement for killing 40 enemies with bone spear within 3 seconds. Bligthed Marrow is for people that like to stay behind their minions and just fire their bone spear trough enemies. I call this build the lazy one.
      3. Corpses. Should be using Corpse Lance with the rune: Ricochet. Why? Ricochet allows you to have an chance to hit one more bonus enemy when you attack the first one. Which is pretty good.
      4. Reanimation. Should be Command Skeletons with the rune: Kill Command,Frenzy and Dark Mending. Kill command is for people who are confident without their minions and want ther minions do yeet themself to enemies and kill them in one shot. Frenzy is the one that i recommend the most, this will allow you to command your skeletons to gain attack speed (which means more damage to the enemy) and it's just really that powerful. And Dark Mending is the last one. Dark mending is for people who lose health pretty quickly and want their minions to heal them.
      5. Curses. Either Frailty or Leech. Frailty is for people who want their minions to deal much bigger damage with the rune: Scent of Blood. Why? Scent of blood will allow your minions to attack 15% increased damage, which is really helpful if you want your minions to do the job and not you. Leech is for people that lose a lot or a bit of health. With the rune Sanguine End. Cause it will allow you to heal 200% for the enemies that die.
      6. Blood and Bone. This should be RIGHT OF THE BACK bone spirit with the rune: Poltergeist. Why? Bone spirit is powerful as heck and you should use it immediately when you get it. The rune Poltergeist will allow you to have 4 bone spirit, which means EVEN MORE DAMAGE THEN BEFORE HAHA.
      7. Passive skills. I recommend: Overwhelming Essence for people that want more Essence and use a lot of Essence now and then. Spreading Malediction is for people that want their curses to deal a lot more damage, well not much but 1% increased damage is at least okay. Serration is also a really good passive skill, Serration is for people that like to stay behind while their minions do their business and you like to stay behind and just shoot bone spikes at them. And finally Aberrant Animator. For people that like to increase the thorns damage for their minions
And that's it! Took me a lot of time, and some repilies and thanks would be appreciated. And yeah, hope you are good with your necromancer now!
OH sorry if the text is black! I didn't realize that it would be hard to read on my post, cause when i m editing it looks white so... sorry :((

      ALLIANCE, EU | English Speaking
Guild History | Guild Code | Apply

Established in 2009, Cyrus is a guild with its roots in MMO games reaching back to Warhammer Online. We are an organised and dedicated guild completely committed to getting the best out of our players while trying to keep track of where the fun is. We aren't afraid to put the hard work in, try out new strategies and we certainly aren't the type to give up after the first wipe - we will adapt, refocus and find a way to reach our objective.
Although Cyrus has at times been considered an elite guild, we are certainly not looking for elitist players. We value teamwork and positive attitude far more than individual ego and rhetoric. We recognise that we are only as good as those we run with, and that means if we want to improve we must improve not only ourselves but those around us. This is not achieved through bragging, whining or quitting - it's achieved through patience, practise and hard work. It's not about how good any individual is, it's about how good your group is and how you can work with others to improve it.
Cyrus is not a casual guild, and we have been greatly put off by the increasingly casual nature of MMOs recently. To us, guild and realm pride should mean something. We don't spam invite players, we ask members to apply to join us because they see something in us that they want to participate in. And in return, we work tirelessly to place the right people in the right groups, increase our players awareness and knowledge of the game and their class, and to organise varied and epic guild events that we will remember for years to come.
If you are looking to make your journey through World of Warcraft Classic legendary, and you are prepared to put the time and effort in to maximise not only your own, but your teams play style and skill, then Cyrus is the guild for you. You will need a thick skin, a good sense of humour, the discipline to know when to speak up and when to shut up, and the dedication to constantly evolve and improve.

This is a condensed version of our guild history. To read the full version, please click here.
We started life in Warhammer Online in March 2009 (originally called Exodus) and became the largest and most active Order PvP guild on the Karak-Norn server. We played a central role in co-ordinating our faction, hosting cross-alliance community initiatives to try and bring the many guilds and alliances on the server together in an attempt to take the fight to the numerically superior Destruction side.

Cyrus in Warhammer, known as Exodus. We fought for Order on Karak-Norn
We later moved to Aion where we became a top 10 ranked Elyos PvP guild on the Perento server. Intending to pursue our enjoyment of PvP, we were one of the primary guilds in the early days of the game, however the severe PvE grind and lack of meaningful PvP content meant that our player base changed somewhat and we became more of a PvE guild with occasional raids in the Abyss. We refocused when the ground PvP patch was released and had a lot more fun.

Cyrus in Aion. We fought for Elyos on Perento. Embracing the grind…
In Rift we combined these two playstyles and became unquestionably the most successful and talked about PvP guild on our server, all the while maintaining competitive PvE raids that cleared all content in the game. We were yet again the leading guild when it came to organising our faction, setting up server-wide PvP events to increase participation and enjoyment for all in the game.
Such was our success in the PvP lakes that we eventually ran out of opposition to fight against, so we transferred servers looking for new challenges. Our influence was so great that most guilds from both factions followed our move, and within a few weeks our previous server was transformed from the busiest EU PvP server to a trial realm!

Cyrus in Rift. We fought for Guardians on Whitefall. We dominated the PvP until everyone else quit crying.
After a brief spell in SWTOR, which was completely awful, we moved to World of Warcraft (Horde, Stormscale) in 2012. While we obviously didn’t find any Open World PvP, we did enjoy the challenges of running three Rated Battlegrounds teams, with the occasional Raid to pass the time. During our first full Rated Battlegrounds season we managed to take a group of mostly new-to-WoW players to a legitimate 2200+ rating, something that was not so simple to do as a guild in this game with all the win-traders and cheats.

Cyrus in WoW. From zero to 2200+, proving the doubters wrong!
Since then, we have dabbled in Final Fantasy XIV and been back to WoW. But these were the beginning of barren times, as games such as Guild Wars 2 and Wildstar, which should have been natural homes for guilds such as ours, failed to deliver on expectations. In 2016 we launched 'Club Cyrus' - a more casual multiplayer gaming initiative enabling us to at least play something together - Rocket League, The Division, Chivalry, Ghost Recon, etc. And while these games each gave us many hours of light entertainment, we have always yearned for an MMO to come along and do it old-school again, to give us a real home to stick with and build our characters and guild over 1000's of hours. Something that requires old-school effort, commitment and team work. Something that can help us escape our drab real lives, and instead transform into better looking, more in-shape, possibly even female (!) avatars with gloriously pixelated wardrobes that speak of our daring and courageous deeds on the virtual battlefield!

A typical Cyrus group lines up for a picture: Bruce, Dave, Steve, Alan and Dan.

      WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
While we have a strong core that are committed to giving up their social lives from August 27th, we need more bodies to throw on the pile. That’s where you come in! Cyrus is an 'old school' MMO guild, and we are looking for members who want to become part of a greater community, who want to put the effort in and earn their achievements rather than get carried.
We are looking for intelligent, active and friendly players to join our ranks. In World of Warcraft Classic, we are hoping to create a successful guild with outstanding organisation, solid progression and a shared objective. We want dedicated and reliable players who are in it for the long haul, who will not quit at the first or second hurdle, and will hold out for the payoff that such a team of players deserve. No elitism, no egos, and plenty of patience, reality and understanding. Ok, maybe a little bit of elitism!
Members should take the time to learn their class and skills, and how they can best benefit their guild teams. Being an excellent individual player is great, but it is far more important to be an excellent team player, to follow instructions, and to know when to stop joking around, focus, and stop standing in the lava! Your goals should be that of the guild as a whole, not of yourself.
Members are required to use Discord and have a clear, working microphone. We welcome members from all over the world, however we do ask that in guild chat and Discord English is used at all times.

      WHAT WE CAN OFFER
Cyrus is an experienced, focused, progression-based guild for mature, skilled and team-orientated players. We offer Discord voice communications with a mostly family-friendly atmosphere, as well as our own website which is used to organise pretty much everything we do. We have a long-established leadership who is committed to getting the most out of our members and ensuring everyone is working towards their own and the common goals of the guild.

Guild levelling PvP event in Rift. If you haven't experienced being in a really great guild before, get it right for WoW Classic!
We have a strong community spirit, and thanks to our successful recruitment in previous games, a very welcoming attitude towards new members of any experience level so long as they are prepared to put the time in. We do not form cliques, and we do not favour members based on their time or rank within the guild.
While Cyrus’ main objective will be clearing raid content, we are a guild steeped in the rich tradition of PvP and as such, you can expect organised Battlegrounds and World PvP nights. Our current plan is to raid two evenings per week, provisionally on Wednesdays and Sundays.

      HOW TO APPLY
If this sounds like your kind of guild, then please check out our website, read our Guild Code, and feel free to apply on our forums. Please also feel free to include any questions you may have with your application.
      Thanks for reading!
