Recommended Posts

Icy Veins was on the floor at BlizzCon 2015 today to get all of the announcements. We'll have full coverage of the major news after returning from the convention, but here are the official major updates from this morning's opening ceremonies:

Warcraft

  • The Warcraft movie will be in theatres in June 2016. The official trailer was revealed this morning.

  • The World of Warcraft: Legion cinematic trailer was unveiled, along with some new details about the expansion itself.

  • Legion is available for pre-purchase effective immediately. The expansion is tentatively slated for launch in 'summer 2016' (per the WoW blog), and before September 21, 2016.
  • Pre-purchasing Legion will grant a new level boost (to level 100), as well as early access to the new Demon Hunter class prior to the expansion's launch.

StarCraft

  • Legacy of the Void launches next week. The official launch cinematic debuted during the opening ceremony.

  • It was announced officially that Blizzard will be continuing to release new content for StarCraft II after Legacy of the Void goes live. A trailer for the 'Nova Covert Ops' content was also featured.

Hearthstone

  • Hearthstone is getting its third Adventure Mode with The League of Explorers.

  • All of the new cards from this adventure set have been posted to a Facebook photo album on the official Hearthstone Facebook page.

Overwatch

  • A new gameplay trailer today confirmed three new heroes: D.Va, Mei, and Genji (Hanzo's brother).

Heroes of the Storm

  • Heroes of the Storm is getting three new Heroes - Lunara, Genn Greymane, and Cho'Gall. A new map is also coming - Towers of Doom.

  • Heroes' new gameplay mode is called The Arena, and is an even faster, more intense match type than the standard gameplay of current ranked/league or Quick Match play.
  • Cho'Gall will not be available for purchase until 2016, but BlizzCon attendees and Virtual Ticket holders can utilize him earlier - and playing Cho'Gall with those players will allow non-ticket holders to unlock him as well.

Additional analysis of the new content and today's panels will be coming soon. In the meantime, you can still take in the Saturday panels live or any panels as Video on Demand for two weeks by purchasing a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket.

Five of Blizzard's six franchises got exciting announcement updates at BlizzCon. (Sorry, Diablo.)

Blizzard just announced there will be no in-person BlizzCon this year.
If you've planned on attending BlizzCon 2024, we've got bad news for you. The event will not be held this year. Here's what Blizzard had to say about its cancelation:
      (Source)
After careful consideration over the last year, we at Blizzard have made the decision not to hold BlizzCon in 2024. This decision was not made lightly as BlizzCon remains a very special event for all of us, and we know many of you look forward to it. While we’re approaching this year differently and as we have explored different event formats in the past, rest assured that we are just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years.
Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing more details about our launches coming later this year, including World of Warcraft: The War Within and Diablo IV's first expansion, Vessel of Hatred. To celebrate these upcoming releases and to bring our communities together in new and special ways, we will soon share some exciting plans for other industry trade shows and conventions like Gamescom. We can’t wait to tell you more about those plans soon. We’re also looking forward to the Overwatch Champions Series’ stops at both Dreamhack Dallas and Dreamhack Stockholm. And we’re thrilled to be planning multiple, global, in-person events to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Warcraft, which will be held in addition to the in-game celebrations across our Warcraft games throughout 2024. While these events are distinct from BlizzCon, we’re harnessing all of our creativity and imagination to ensure that they carry the same spirit of celebration and togetherness.
Our hope is that these experiences – alongside several live-streamed industry events where we’ll keep you up to date with what’s happening in our game universes – will capture the essence of what makes the Blizzard community so special.
No matter how you choose to connect with us at these events this year – whether it be in person or virtually – we can’t wait to see you there!

We're 2 hours away from this year's opening ceremony at BlizzCon and the community is already guessing what will be announced today, so we're taking a look at some bingo cards for the event!
      Bingo Card 1
The first bingo card talks about Thrall, Metzen, and of course "Storm" in the expansion name. Interestingly, it mentions Path of the Titans, a feature that was planned for Cataclysm but ultimately abandoned.

      Bingo Card 2
The second bingo card includes guesses like Dragonriding everywhere, WoW on game pass, and more.

      Bingo Card 3
The third bingo card boldly mentions a new expansion for Diablo 4!

      Bingo Card 4
The fourth bingo card includes guesses like Cataclysm Classic, Classic+, no Patch 10.3, and more.
