The final standings for the May Ranked Play Season on the Americas server have been published. May was the first of three months that will count towards the Summer Hearthstone Championship Tour Cycle.

The top ranked player, KingofType89, is Japanese language streamer Scottyda. He used Midrange Hunter to take the top spot from Fibonacci with only a matter of minutes to go. Fibonacci had a shot to regain it, but the Warrior expert, playing N'Zoth Warrior, lost to wiRer's Miracle Druid. The win for wiRer was worth the effort, it put him into the top 25 for some additional HCT points.

The rest of the top 25 is once again full of recognisable names, and there are some amazing statistics starting to come out of the Americas region. SilentStorm extends his run of top 30 finishes to seven months in a row, while muzzy's streak of five consecutive top 10 finishes finally came to an end - he finished 15th! Also of note, this was the sixth month in a row that Vlps finished strongly. His worst finish in half a year being 32nd. Silentstorm's Celestial teammate, Neobility, returns to the list for the first time in three months. Previous to that, he had a run of six top tens in eight months.

Other streaks are also forming in the region, but those are the most notable. The consistency of many of the players is a compliment to their skill being rewarded. This should be a strong reminder next time you're worried about a bad run, the large numbers put you in the correct place in the end.

As you can see, the list is stacked. The full top 100, contains plenty more notable names. The Americas region Summer Preliminary will take place on August 19-21. With these big names already starting to secure their places, as with Europe, it promises to be a great event.

We have a new Tavern Brawl this week! Its name is Spellbook Duel.
For this Brawl, you choose your class and then you pick 10 different cards to fill your deck. Instead of drawing cards each turn, you Discover a copy of a card from your deck. If you use card drawing mechanics, like Arcane Intellect, you don't actually draw from your deck. You will, in fact, get a 1-mana spell called Peruse, which again allows you to Discover a copy of a card from your deck.
Obviously, there are a lot of possible deck combinations you can use to tackle this new Tavern Brawl. The first things that pop into mind are anything that contains Reno Jackson and Kazakus, as well as Jade Druid to extend the possibility of getting these precious Jade Idols. Once again, Mage is the clear winner of this Brawl with cards like Sorcerer's Apprentice, Arcane Intellect and Flamewaker.
Bear in mind that some cards are not recommended, since they remove cards from your Discover pool. Examples are Fel Reaver and Tracking. Moreover, cards that put another card directly into play, like Mysterious Challenger and Mad Scientist, will also make your Discover pool smaller. Lastly, according to a Reddit user, Renounce Darkness won't deduct 1 mana from the cards you discover throughout the game.
There are already a lot of disgusting decks for Spellbook Duel out there. We are waiting for your suggestions and any other useful info in the comments!
