Crit gives Parry, and crit on Judgment decreases the cooldown on your SotR

Crit is still a worthless survivability stat. Also, it's worth noting that it also decreases on a non-crit. 1 second vs. 2 second decrease.

So I just tried Righteous Protector T7 talent, but it did not actually give me a 3sec CD reduction. I also use the T5 Hand of Protector talent.

do you experience the same?

I have just tested this in game and I am getting the CD reduction whenever I use SoTR. Seems to be working fine.

So I'm just learning tanking and I'm wondering - am I better served by Final Stand over Hand of the Protector? I get that Hand gives the improved cooldown and opens it up to allied targets as well so it's better on a utility front (as an aside: Does it remove the 20% bonus for standing in Consecration, or is that just missing from the tooltip?) but I'm wondering if Final Stand pulls out ahead for beginners - it lets you effectively use Divine Shield as an 8-second freebie regardless of the circumstances, and between utility vs trash packs and it giving you the ability to fully utilize DS during encounters instead of forced interactions with taunts. As well, am I right in assuming I should be looking at DPS meters and using Blessing of Salvation to help pick up targets in the first place? (This is if it's still in the game at all - I'm not at my main computer right now and I'm getting conflicting info from looking it up.)

Honestly the more I tank in EN the more I find a combo of Cavalier and Knight Templar to be viable (aside from when I need BoP turned into magic protection).    It's a very frequently up 20% cd which also is great for movement...VERY handy on swaps with Nightmare dragons, kiting heroic ursoc, etc.    I go down to just KT so I can pick up spellwarding for Nythendre and Cenarius.     It's also very usable for burst spells like rend or stackable with Ardent Defender/SotR for Cenarius' spear (though I think it's multiplicative, still it helps).

Yes, it could work if you feel you need the extra CD.

No, BoS is not in the game anymore for Prot.

I think that's fair enough, it's definitely a combo that works well as long as you time the steeds well and don't waste them on mobility when needed.

Hello,

In the 6.1 section, the guide states: "Icon Eye of Tyr, your artifact ability, damages nearby enemies and debuffs them to deal 25% less damage to you for 9 seconds. This only applies to damage they deal with their melee attacks, and not with their spells or other abilities."

The tooltip specifically said "all damage", and not just melee attacks. Has this Eye of Tyr ability been tested to ascertain that only physical damage is affected? If it is not tested, where does this information come from?

Thanks.

I've only tanked on a paladin in BC, LK, Warlords, and now Legion. I skipped Cata and MoP, but I've always been a Survivability tank. Versatility being the #1 priority just makes sense to me.... More dps, more healing, less damage taken. Haste as the 2nd ability just makes sense as well, because it means faster abilities .

A tank's job is to be a tank. If you want to dps, then play a dps class.

Some times I wish we could go back to LK days lol... I miss my 93% avoidance =( I could live thru anything even tho i had lower health than healers...which would some times get me kicked out of groups lol

But these are new times and Tanking is a bit different.....but I do feel that it is somewhat comparable to LK =P...

Is there pwn strings for Survivability and DPS ?

The only way to get those is via SimCraft on your own character.

The thing is, tanking is now more focused on Active Mitigation, hence why Haste is so valuable, rather than simply stacking as much avoidance as possible and sitting there getting hit.

When I tested Grotesque Statuette  after reading the comment it didn't stack on more than 1 target, I found this to be false.

I pulled a pack of 5 mobs and when it went off each of them had varying stacks of this debuff, so it does seem to work on multiple targets, but yes it isn't always up when they melee you due to the proc based system.

Hand of the Protector or Light of the Protector?

Has Hand of the Protector also

"While you are standing in your Consecration, Light of the Protector's healing is increased by 20%. " ?

What do you mean? Hand replaces Light. Yes, it benefits from Consecration too.

Noticed a potential error in the Prot pala guide. Under 'Builds and talents' for the level 45 talents it states:

' We recommend Blinding Light IconBlinding Light as the default choice, since it offers a solid amount of damage, and the blinding effect can be useful in dungeons (note that if an enemy cannot be blinded, such as a raid boss, they will not be damaged either). '

The note is incorrect, it can hit boss targets (eg. https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/t4Tzg7Lj9D2Bvamd#fight=9&type=damage-done&source=20&ability=105421&target=45 - I used it on Nythendra and it damaged the boss) and it's a good ability to help fill downtime when all abilities are on CD, so I think people need to know that it is usable on bosses :)

The information on Crusader's Judgment doesn't sell the main part of it. Having 2 charges on Judgment means it is cooling down for 100% of the fight, whereas without charges you lose at minimum 0.25 seconds on the cooldown due to GCD, latency and human error - and that's assuming you don't accidentally hit another button, or are forced to hit another button, or have to turn around or otherwise not attack for a seconds or more. Even if you don't factor in the gain of charges from Avengers Shield, the amount of human error alone will result in more ShoRs than Bastion of Light.

Can you give us the Stat weight scores of each stat? I'm not sure I trust Noxicc, and I know Mr. Robot is completely jacked up.

There isn't really 1 stat weight that will work for every Prot. You need to take your own character and sim it in Simcraft using ETMI/TMI/Dummy sims. You then average the sims and decide what is most important based on the sims. It's the only way to stay completely accurate.

i just had Tyr's hand of faith drop as i was holy when doing the world boss and i have to say i think it deserves an honorable mention as a decent legendary, i now have a 4min LOH which is quick that kings at 5 mins.  i personally think its fairly powerful in the right situation.

Need to update the legendaries section with the new Sephuz's secret; it was hotfixed so that Blinding light would no longer proc it (on immunes), but successfully interrupting with our shield throw does work. So...still good for some raid bosses, and very good for mythic+?

The Fatebout Hero Talent tree available to Assassination and Outlaw Rogues has been enabled for testing on the War Within Alpha, and so we're looking at the new talents!
Talents with the NYI tag have not yet been implemented.
      Rogue
Mean Streak (new) - Fatebound Coins flipped by Envenom multiple times in a row are 33% more likely to match the same outcome as the last flip. Edge Case (new) - Activating Deathmark causes your next Fatebound Coin flip to land on its edge, counting as both Heads and Tails. Tempted Fate (new) - You have a chance equal to your critical strike chance to absorb 10% of any damage taken, up to a maximum chance of 40%. Chosen's Revelry (new) - Leech increased by 0.5% for each time your Fatebound Coin has flipped the same face in a row. Deal Fate (new) - Sinister Strike generates an additional combo point when it strikes an additional time. Delivered Doom (new) - Damage dealt when your Fatebound Coin flips tails is increased by 35% while Blade Flurry is not active. Fateful Ending (new) - When your Fatebound Coin flips the same face for the seventh time in a row, the lucky coin grants 1% increase to all primary, secondary, and tertiary stats until you leave combat for 10 seconds. Threads of Fate [NYI] (new) - Dispatch critical strikes duplicate 20% of their damage to 2 additional nearby enemies. If there are no additional nearby targets, duplicate 20% to the primary target instead. Double Jeopardy (new) - Your first Fatebound Coin flip after breaking Stealth flips two coins that are guaranteed to match the same face. Inexorable March [NYI] (new) - You cannot be slowed below 70% of normal movement speed while your Fatebound Coin flips have an active streak of at least 2 flips matching the same face. Death's Arrival [NYI] (new) - Grappling Hook may be used a second time within 3 sec, with no cooldown. Inevitability [NYI] (new) - Cold Blood now benefits the next 2 abilities but only applies to Dispatch. Fatebound Coins flipped by these abilities are guaranteed to match the same face as the last flip. Destiny Defined (new) - Sinister Strike has 5% increased chance to strike an additional time and your Fatebound Coins flipped have an additional 5% chance to match the same face as the last flip.

We've all seen the giant Hallowfall crystal and just how great it looks, but as it turns out, the light emanating from it actually changes in a sort of strange day/night cycle, and we get a really awesome transition into Void light animation!
First off we can see a snippet of the change in Blizzard's official short preview of the zone:
And then there's this extended look at the switch, showcasing just how impressive the animations are, by PreachGaming's Chunkeyninja:
And here's a slightly better look at the Void to Light transition, courtesy of Kexman:
The exact timing on the cycle isn't 100% clear, but MrGM noted how it works on the Alpha right now, with a 3 hour cycle, as the Void part remains active for 30 minutes:

Hopefully we'll also get some lore to go with the transition, as the light into void thing is pretty thematically interesting, as well as being really visually impressive.
