Is bolster a thing now?

6 posts in this topic

Did somebody play a bolster warrior deck at blizzcon or something? I've seen 3 bolster warrior decks in a row today.

I don't think I've seen that card used since the day after the expansion dropped and everyone figured out it was bad. Now overnight suddenly its a thing again.

I'm honestly not sure, it might be that a deck surfaced on one of the various sites that people follow, so you're seeing more people use it. Generally, if it gets added to a site with the tag "INSTANT LEGEND 1 HOUR 100% WIN RATE", people will play it. Did you beat them?

Could be also that you faced the same opponent a few times.

Are you trying to tell me that I shouldn't tag my deck as 100% win rate if I only play 1 game? I'd never thought about that!

Nope. I remember checking the "last played" each time. Three different bolster warriors in a row.

Absolutely. Their only play is Protect the King and a Bolster. A board of 3/3s isn't that difficult to deal with for pretty much every class but maybe druid or hunter. And in order to get their Bolsters off, the deck seems to play mostly inefficient minions and lacks the card draw and recovery tools of a straight control warrior deck. So once you wipe their board, they don't really have a way to come back from it.

We have a new Tavern Brawl this week! Its name is Spellbook Duel.
For this Brawl, you choose your class and then you pick 10 different cards to fill your deck. Instead of drawing cards each turn, you Discover a copy of a card from your deck. If you use card drawing mechanics, like Arcane Intellect, you don't actually draw from your deck. You will, in fact, get a 1-mana spell called Peruse, which again allows you to Discover a copy of a card from your deck.
Obviously, there are a lot of possible deck combinations you can use to tackle this new Tavern Brawl. The first things that pop into mind are anything that contains Reno Jackson and Kazakus, as well as Jade Druid to extend the possibility of getting these precious Jade Idols. Once again, Mage is the clear winner of this Brawl with cards like Sorcerer's Apprentice, Arcane Intellect and Flamewaker.
Bear in mind that some cards are not recommended, since they remove cards from your Discover pool. Examples are Fel Reaver and Tracking. Moreover, cards that put another card directly into play, like Mysterious Challenger and Mad Scientist, will also make your Discover pool smaller. Lastly, according to a Reddit user, Renounce Darkness won't deduct 1 mana from the cards you discover throughout the game.
There are already a lot of disgusting decks for Spellbook Duel out there. We are waiting for your suggestions and any other useful info in the comments!
