Combustion Questions

4 posts in this topic

Hey all, I have a couple of quick questions about Combustion.

If I have 10 stacks of Stolen Time with the 4 piece set bonus from T13, am I better off waiting for the full Ignite + Pyro + Living Bomb Combustion? Or is it more effective to pop a decent Combustion now so that you can get it off its CD faster.

e.g. I have 10 stacks of Stolen Time... boss is affected by a full Ignite off a Firebolt as well as a full Living Bomb... should I wait for a Hot Streak? I could lose some damage as my Ignite/LB tick... Or should I just pop Combustion now and get off a decent DoT now so that I can use it again sooner.

Another question: should I be refreshing Living Bomb right before I use Combustion? Or is the loss in DPS from wasting a GCD as well as from refreshing Living Bomb early not worth the small bump in the Combustion DPS?

It all really depends on the encounter. There are simply too many factors to give you a straight answer but for the most part waiting 10-15 seconds is usually fine. This is all dependent on burn phases and as you get experienced with particular encounters, you just learn the timing. Waiting to time for things like Zon'ozz burn phase, Yor'sahj adds (this is only to see big numbers) or Spine of Deathwing Tendon is important for big numbers.

As far as Living Bomb refreshing don't refresh unless it might run out before the combustion hits. So dependent on latency 2seconds maybe.

With MoP right around the corner, I wouldn't worry too much about maxing out though. Posted Image

      Hey there!
I've recently started playing a mage, and I feel like my performance is a little below where it should be right now... I feel like I have the basics of the fire rotation down, but I really want to make any improvements that I can.. I don't really know where i'm going wrong, or what i'm doing that is causing a gap in numbers between me and similarly geared players. I have a log from a normal Xavius fight from earlier, maybe someone could take a look at it and point out any mistakes or give a few pointers?
      Thanks for your time!

Would you point out possible Improvements or grave mistakes visible in the logs?

Hi everyone. I've a question, What spect should we roll for 7.1.5?
So patch notes for 7.1.5 (November the 29th) are out.
And I have 2 things to remark
1.Strong buff to Arcane Mana cost for Arcane Blast has been reduced from 125% to 60% per Arcane Charge, since they are mana dependent. This does not apply It Was a tooltip bug.
2.Almost all fire skills were buffed in damage, Fireball,Flame Blast, PyroBlast, Scorch, FlameStrike, CinderStorm,Meteor,Conflag and Phoenix's Flames. BUT Critical Mass % was reduced from 15% to 10% and Pyretic Incantation was nerfed from 5% per stack  to 2% per stack = 15%  less damage from consecutive Critical Strikes.
I haven't done the math yet, but since Arcane has gotten a lot of buffs lately, and Fire is getting "balanced" (Since i've no idea how the patch will afect fire dps), and Frost Topping dps in rankings, and with no significant buffs or nerfs in the patch notes i suppose they will stay in tops.
So if anyone would be so kind to enlighten me what spect you guys think it would be the best for 7.1.5 and why.
