As September draws to a close and Patch 6.0.2 looms on the horizon, there is a fast closing timeframe left to obtain many achievements, events, and items related to Mists of Pandaria. Over the past week, Blizzard has made several notification posts informing players that they have only a few precious weeks left to complete MoP Challenge Modes, Brawler's Guild at level 90 (Season One), to begin the Legendary Cloak questline, to purchase leveling heirlooms, and to meet the qualifications to obtain your free Azeroth Choppers mount.

Free Horde Azeroth Choppers Mount

All players who have logged in to WoW on any character before Tuesday, September 30th at 11:59pm will automatically receive the winning Horde Chopper mount, inv_chopper_horde.jpgWarlord's Deathwheel, from the Azeroth Choppers webseries this past spring. Players who do not log in before the deadline, along with Alliance players looking to acquire their faction mount (inv_chopper_alliance.jpgChampion's Treadblade), may purchase their mount for 100,000 gold from a to-be-determined NPC vendor. If you have any friends who do not have active subscriptions but are interested in playing in Warlords, give them a friendly heads up that the window for receiving this mount for free is ending soon!

Time is Running Out to Complete MoP Events and Achievements

Recent beta patches have been quickly winding down on introducing new content and instead focusing on tuning passes for classes. This, along with the Battle.net app began downloading data for the Warlords of Draenor 6.0.2 pre-patch this week, indicates that the release of patch 6.0.2 is two to three weeks away.

Blizzard Icon Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 Background Download Begins!

To help you get prepared for the upcoming Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 release, we’ve uploaded the patch data to the background downloader. By downloading the patch in advance, you’ll be ready to get in-game and start playing as soon as the expansion goes live!

If you have issues during this process, you can find help to resolve them on the support site here.

You can adjust your download settings within the Battle.net desktop app by clicking on the Battle.net symbol and selecting “Settings” from the menu. Under Game Install/Update you’ll be able to adjust your download options for each of your games and enable or disable the background download, adjust the rate for your download, or pause it if you have a restriction on daily downloads. Once the 6.0.2 prepatch has been released, a number of existing events, achievements, and items will either no longer be obtainable, or, will have strict and limited timeframes remaining.

Season One of the Brawler's Guild will conclude with the 6.0.2 prepatch release. While none of the content is disappearing permanently, the level 90 version of the encounters and associated achievements will no longer be obtainable and will be converted in to Feats of Strength. Are you stuck on a certain Brawler's Guild boss, wondering how to complete your deck of Challenge Cards, or looking to just get started? Be sure to check our Brawler's Guild guide for all of the answers!

Not mentioned in the blue post below, but worth mentioning, is that achievements associated with Proving Grounds at level 90 will also become Feats of Strength with new versions available at level 100 when Warlords is released.

Blizzard Icon Seasons Change: Brawler’s Guild, Challenge Modes, and Last Chances

Warlords of Draenor offers heroes an opportunity to continue their journey into a new savage land, but before you take your leave of Mists of Pandaria, we wanted to remind you that you may have some unfinished business to attend to – before it’s too late. It’s important to note that many of these changes are affected by the release of patch 6.0.2, which like all of our pre-expansion patches, will arrive a few weeks before Warlords of Draenor’s release.

Brawler’s Guild Season One Ending

Brawler’s Guild changes are coming with Patch 6.0.2 which means what’s currently available in game will be ending soon. Once the new patch goes live and Season One comes to an end, all of your progress will reset and the achievements you’ve earned will be moved into a new category in Feats of Strength called Legacy. Brawler’s Guild will also become unavailable until after Warlords of Draenor launches as the new changes will be for level 100 characters. Don’t worry, though, your membership in this exclusive club will carry over into the next expansion.

Now’s the time to get in there and show your mettle by reaching Rank 10 and defeating the card bosses before it’s too late!

We’ll have more information about what you can expect from Season 2 of Brawler’s Guild in an upcoming post.

Season One of Challenge Modes Ending

If you’re looking to make one last push for your Challenge Mode rewards– now is the time. You’ll have until the release of patch 6.0.2 to make a play for these highly coveted awards which include: Achievements, Titles, Mounts and cosmetic class sets. For more information on the end of the season, you can read our previous post here.

Siege of Orgrimmar Heirlooms

Those who are looking to obtain Garrosh Heirloom weapons from Siege of Orgrimmar will also want to step up their quest to obtain these valuable items. If you want to get your hands on these heirlooms, you’ll want to act quickly. Once Warlords of Draenor releases, they’ll be removed from Garrosh's loot table. For a complete list of available Heirlooms, see Wowhead’s handy list.

A Legendary Undertaking

As we previously announced, the Legendary Cloak will no longer be available to earn after the release of Warlords of Draenor. After patch 6.0.2 releases, players who aren’t already on the quest line will no longer be able to start it. To help speed you on this journey, the Gaze of the Black Prince buff will run until the release of patch 6.0.2. Good luck on your quest, but remember that your voyage doesn’t end here. Soon, you’ll be setting your sights on the new Legendary item, Khadgar’s Band of the Archmage, in Warlords of Draenor.

Blizzard also released individual announcements with significantly more information about each of these changes.

Last Chance: Legendary Cloak Questline

When patch 6.0.2 is live, any characters that have not yet begun Wrathion's Legendary Cloak questline will not be able to do so, and, the inv_legendary_theblackprince.jpgGaze of the Black Prince buff will no longer be active, meaning there is no time to waste if you are currently on a collection step (inv_legendary_sigilofpower.jpgSigil of Power, inv_legendary_sigilofwisdom.jpgSigil of Wisdom, secrets_of_the_empire_icon.jpgSecrets of the Empire, or inv_titan_runestones_icon.jpgTitan Runestone) of the questline. Due to the questline being removed in Warlords of Draenor, if you have any characters that you want to have the Legendary Cloak on, this is literally your last chance to try and get it!

Have questions about the questline or need a refresher of the steps required to complete each phase? Be sure to check out our Breath of the Black Prince guide!

Blizzard Icon Legendary Cloak Quest Last Chance – Black Prince Buff Extended

As your journey takes you from Pandaria to Draenor, we wanted to extend one last opportunity to obtain your Legendary Cloak—and share some important updates related to this iconic item.

Legendary Cloak Changes: Once More unto the Breach

As a part of the transition from Mists of Pandaria to Warlords of Draenor, we’ll be making some changes to the Legendary Cloak quest line and ultimately closing it out as players head into the new expansion. Once the quest is fully closed, the item will no longer be attainable, and the cloak will become a symbol of the great deeds you’ve accomplished in Mists of Pandaria.

With the release of the pre-expansion patch (6.0.2), players who are not already on the journey through this quest line will no longer be able to begin it. We will also be removing the Test of Valor step with patch 6.0.2 as a part of our transition from using Valor as a currency.

Once Warlords of Draenor launches on November 13, the Legendary Cloak quest line will be gone entirely—the quests and the cloak will no longer be obtainable, and any related in-progress quests will be cleared from your log.

But when one door closes, another door opens. In Warlords of Draenor, players will have the opportunity to earn a new Legendary item available exclusively in the new expansion: Khadgar’s Band of the Archmage.

The Gaze of the Black Prince: One Last Look

If you haven’t yet earned your Legendary Cloak, you still have one final opportunity to make accelerated progress on your quest. Rather than end the Gaze of the Black Prince buff on Tuesday, September 16 (as previously announced), the buff will remain active until the release of the Warlords of Draenor pre-patch (6.0.2). This buff increases the reputation gained with the Black Prince by 100%. It also increases the chance of obtaining items from his foes needed as a part of the Legendary Cloak quest line, including Secrets of the Empire, Sigil of Wisdom, Sigil of Power, and Titan Runestones.

Good luck on your quest, but remember that your voyage doesn’t end here. Soon, you’ll be setting your sights on the new Legendary item, Khadgar’s Band of the Archmage, in Warlords of Draenor.

Last Chance: Mists of Pandaria Challenge Modes

Also being removed with the 6.0.2 prepatch will be access to the Mists of Pandaria Challenge Mode rewards, including the Undaunted title, class-specific transmog armor set, and the Pandaren Phoenix mounts (if you have one mount, all four will be granted upon the release of 6.0.2). Upon the release of Warlords of Draenor, a new Challenge Mode season will begin with the level 100 dungeons.

Blizzard Icon Challenge Mode End of Season Early Warning

Countless adventurers continue to brave the most trying versions of Mists of Pandaria dungeons, but the clock is ticking. This “season” of Challenge Modes will be coming to an end with the upcoming release of a patch prior to the expansion’s release.

Challenge Modes are designed to offer as close to a “normalized” difficulty as possible, and they’re tuned to be tough to master. With Warlords of Draenor’s class changes, itemization changes (e.g. the removal of Hit and Expertise), and—of course—increased level cap on the horizon, the difficulty of Mists of Pandaria’s dungeons will no longer be tuned the same as they were. In the spirit of fair play, when the aforementioned patch is released a little while before the new expansion launches, the current slate of Challenge Mode dungeons will no longer be available, and the achievements they award will be converted to Feats of Strength. The reward items will still be available for purchase by those who qualified prior to the end of the season, but it will not be possible for new players to earn those rewards going forward.

If you still need to earn your Undaunted title, Ancestral Phoenix, or class-specific Transmogrification sets, now’s the time to get out there and prove your worth. In Warlords of Draenor, an entirely new set of Challenge Modes will be available . . . and with them an array of new rewards for you to earn. Until then, stay sharp!

* Reward Clarifications

With the upcoming end of the Challenge Mode Season, we wanted to provide some additional clarification on how we plan to handle rewards.

Achievements: All Achievements associated with Mists of Pandaria Challenge Modes will become Feats of Strength.

Rewards
  • Bronze: The “Undaunted” title for achieving a full set of Bronze medals will become account-wide.
  • Silver: The Pandaren Phoenix mounts awarded for a full set of Silver medals will become account-wide. If any character on an account has earned a full set of Silver medals, all four variants of the Pandaren Phoenix (Crimson, Ashen, Violet, and Emerald) will become available to all characters account-wide.
  • Gold: The cosmetic class sets will remain character-specific. Any character that has earned all nine Gold medals will still be able to repurchase the appropriate set, should they misplace theirs, from Challenger Soong or Challenger Wuli in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Any characters that have earned one or more “Challenger’s Path” teleport spells by earning Gold medals in Mists Challenge Modes will retain those spells.
  • Realm Best Titles: There are extremely limited titles that are held by the players who hold the best clear time for a given dungeon on a given server. Since those Challenge dungeons will no longer be available in Warlords of Draenor, their respective titles are also being permanently removed. There will be new Challenge dungeons in the upcoming Warlords season, and new titles for which to contend, however.

Not-So Last Chance: PvE Heirlooms from Vendors

PvE Leveling Heirlooms will be disappearing for a short time from vendors in Stormwind and Orgrimmar in 6.0.2. This is due to the current currency that is used to obtain them, pvecurrency_justice.jpgJustice Points, being removed from the game. A new method has been promised as a way to obtain these heirlooms, though no details have been released yet. In the interim these items can still be obtained through other existing methods, including the Argent Tournament and Darkmoon Faire.

Blizzard Icon Heirloom Vendor Change in Patch 6.0.2

With the upcoming release of Patch 6.0.2, we’ll be sending the vendors who sell Heirlooms for Justice Points on a nice vacation.

As you might already be aware, both Justice and Valor Points are being removed as currencies from the game in 6.0.2. As we started to work on new ways to buy Heirlooms, we found that we were setting their value up for a rollercoaster ride. That's because we’re also working on a larger Heirloom system for a future patch, and we don’t want to introduce an interim pricing scheme that could temporarily devalue Heirlooms or limit how we’d be able to give them out in the future. Rather than make players face buyer’s remorse and hand-wringing decisions about when to buy, we’re going to give the Justice Heirloom vendors some time off while we work on improving the system as a whole.

One thing to note is that this change only affects vendors that sell Heirlooms for Justice. PvE Heirlooms will still remain available at the Darkmoon Faire and the Trial of the Crusader, and PvP Heirlooms will continue to be available for Honor. (Source)

Just another quick note,

inv_pet_babycloudserpent.jpgThundering Serpent Hatchling is currently available through a guild achievement achievement_challengemode_gold.jpgChallenge Conquerors: Gold - Guild Edition.

If (like me) you haven't managed to gain the guild achievement, and you never will - you can always join a guild that has.

It requires revered reputation (so if you are exalted with your guild right now you can easily swap over).

I just contacted an officer in a guild that had access to the pet - mentioned I would give them a donation towards their guild bank (paid upfront) - joined the guild for 2 minutes and bought the pet - then rejoined my normal guild.

Consensus seems to be that if the guild already has the achievement unlocked the pet will be available to purchase still (but I wanted to make sure).

It will become available through the Black Market Auction House from 6.0.2 onwards (but the above would probably be a cheaper option anyway)

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
