How to Unlock the New Alliance Raid

Every odd-numbered patch in Final Fantasy XIV introduces a new alliance raid, and Patch 7.3 is no exception! For Patch 7.3, Echoes of Vana’diel will add the next alliance raid duty, San d’Oria: The Second Walk.

To begin, you must complete the new Chronicles of New Era quests, starting with “Dreams of Paradise.” Speak with the Landsguard Messenger in Tuliyollal (X:16.2, Y:13.9) to begin the quests.

But if you haven’t completed the previous alliance raid, Jeuno: The First Walk, you’ll need to begin from the Chronicles of New Era quest “An Otherworldly Encounter”. Speak with the Hoobigo Messenger in Tuliyollal (X:13.0, Y:11.6) to begin, then head to Yak T’el (X:10.7, Y:34.8) to unlock the duty.

Alliance Raid Rewards and Changes

After completing the alliance raid, you can receive various rewards for completion. Throughout Patch 7.3, items with weekly restrictions are available after every Tuesday at 1:00AM PDT (8:00 GMT / 18:00 AEST):

To use the Montiont Coin obtained from San d’Oria: The Second Walk, you can exchange it for upgrade items with Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.7, Y:13.5). The items are located in the Sublime Curiosities category, and requires Ordelle Coins obtained from the alliance raid Jeuno: The First Walk. Exchanged items are for equipment upgrades from the Allagan Tomestone of Mathematics item exchange.

Exchange items for Echoes of Vana’diel orchestrion rolls also adjusted their item names. Tattered Sheet Music from Jeuno: The First Walk are now Tattered First Movement Score. This means you must complete each alliance raid to obtain their exclusive orchestrion rolls. You can purchase the orchestrion rolls off the marketboard, or exchange with the peculiar goblin in Lower Jeuno (X:6.5, Y:5.2). Lower Jeuno is accessible from Yak T’el (X:10.9, Y:34.9).

As well, you can no longer obtain Cracked Novaclusters from completing Jeuno: The First Walk. Instead, you must complete San d’Oria: The Second Walk or other applicable Level 100 duties.

New Treasure Hunt: Vault Oneiron

Starting in Patch 7.3, FFXIV adds Gargantuaskin Treasure Maps! Treasure hunts from Gargantuaskin Treasure Maps are exclusive to the Living Memory location. Upon obtaining rewards from the unearthed treasure coffer, you may have a chance to enter the new Vault Oneiron!

Firstly, as Vault Oneiron is a new treasure dungeon type, let’s go over the basics:

  • Similar to Cenote Ja Ja Gural (from Br’aaxskin Treasure Maps), you’ll need to enter with Disciples of War or Magic at Level 100.
  • Each Treasure Map Dungeon is 60 minutes long and player limit up to 8 players.
  • Performing an invocation on the Hypnoslot Machine will summon and randomize 3 Outrunner Screens. The screen results have various effects, from fighting enemies, grandiose rewards, to possibly kicking you out!
  • You can complete the duty after passing through 5 trials, the party is KO’d, or the Outrunners kick the party out.
  • The rewards you can get from completing Vault Oneiron include a new crafting recipe!

Combat Job Changes

The Preliminary Patch Notes for Patch 7.3 does not include any expected job changes. You’ll have to check back on Tuesday for the Official Patch Notes release! Icy Veins will also update the FFXIV job guides with any changes, so check back soon!

Disciple of Hand and Land Changes

Any Warrior of Light knows they’re only as strong as their best Crafters and Gatherers! The Disciples of Hand and Land will get a new Best-in-Slot update, as well as a Desynthesis level cap upgrade to 750.

DOH Best-in-Slot Guide DOL Best-in-Slot Guide

The next Cosmic Exploration update is also releasing in Patch 7.31, which is expected by early September. After its release, players can explore a new cosmic star Phaenna and continue upgrading their Cosmic Tools! For ease of travel, you can also now access the latest Cosmic Exploration site via the aetheryte in Bestways Burrow. Check out the summary below:

  • Though you can use mounts in Sinus Ardorum, you can’t fly in outer space.
  • Sinus Ardorum’s new Summoning Bell is located at (X:21.0, Y:21.8).
  • Increased time limit for Stellar Missions
  • All rating tiers now grant the same amount of EXP
  • Multiple Cosmic Class scores now increase when completing missions acceptable by related classes
  • Upon completing gathering stellar missions, you’ll recover an equal amount of GP spent in the mission, and GP recovery item cooldowns will be reset (such as Cordials)
  • Miscellaneous QoL updates, including changing certain Stellar Success requirements

If you’re not ready for the changes just yet, then feel free to check out our catch-up guide on Icy Veins! You have about a month to prepare, so better get to it fast!

In addition to the above, Disciples of Hand will also have a new allied society quest available: the Yok Huy! Located in Urqopacha, the new allied society will be available starting from Patch 7.35 in October.

Duty Changes

In previous sections, we’ve covered any new duty updates, such as for the main scenario quests and alliance raid. This section is primarily for older or other related content!

Certain enemies, such as bosses, can now display a progress bar under their nameplates. You can adjust this display through the “Display progress bar” option under the Character Configuration menu > Display Name Settings > General tab. Though this option is currently available for only bosses and powerful foes in instanced content, it may get extended to public areas, such as large-scaled FATEs! The progress bar display is enabled by default.

Dungeons, Trials, & Roulettes

Haven’t stepped into Cutter’s Cry in a while? This dungeon from A Realm Reborn now features Duty Support and new boss battle changes. Unfortunately, if you’ve previously skipped the shifting sands sections (by sprinting straight to it), you can no longer do that. You’ll need to defeat a certain number of enemies in each section to progress now.

As well, players can now exchange totems obtained from The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden. Upon completing the Extreme Trial and obtaining 99 totems, players can exchange for the Wings of Eternity mount from Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.7, Y:13.5). In addition, the mount’s drop rate is increased, so you may get it before reaching 99 totems!

In addition, you can no longer join a duty in progress if you’ve never completed it before. For example, if you have unlocked but never cleared The Tower of Zot, any time you queue for an in-progress duty in Duty Roulette: Leveling, the “Join Party in Progress” setting will be disabled for any duties in that roulette.

AAC Cruiserweight Raid Updates

If you’ve been completing the Arcadion normal raids every week, there is no more weekly restriction on AAC Cruiserweight rewards starting in Patch 7.3. However, this change does not apply to the Cruiser Holosaber exchange item you get from AAC Cruiserweight M4.

In addition, if you want to exchange for a Universal Tomestone 2.0, you’ll only need 4 Cruiser Holosabers from now on. You can exchange Universal Tomestones for Allagan Tomestone of Mathematics weapons.

By completing the AAC Cruiserweight savage raids, you can obtain upgrade items such as the Evercharged Twine and Evercharged Ester. These are used to upgrade any Allagan Tomestone of Mathematics equipment, which are used for the current Best-in-Slot sets. However, you can also obtain these upgrade items through the following methods:

  • Exchange Sacks of Nuts with Ryubool Ja in Tuliyollal (X:13.9, Y:13.5)
  • Exchange a combination of Ordelle Coins and Montiont Coins with Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.7, Y:13.5)

There are no changes for the AAC Cruiserweight (Savage) tier.

Unreal Trial Update

The next Unreal Trial releasing is The Wreath of Snakes (Unreal)! The duty mechanics are based off its Level 70 Extreme Trial counterpart, The Wreath of Snakes (Extreme), so better prepare to swim! The pre-requisites to unlock this content are as follows:

  • Complete the main scenario quest “Shadowbringers”
  • Complete the quest “Keeping Up with the Aliapohs” and “Fantastic Mr. Faux”
  • Complete the Level 70 Trial The Wreath of Snakes
  • Have at least one Disciple of War or Magic job at Level 100

After Patch 7.3 releases, Hells’ Kier (Unreal) will no longer be available. If you’ve previously completed the quest “Fantastic Mr. Faux”, The Wreath of Snakes (Unreal) will be automatically available. As with any new Unreal Trial update, we’ve also got new exchange items to get with faux leaves!

Hunt Marks & New Deep Dungeon

If you’re looking forward to the new Deep Dungeon, the Pilgrim’s Traverse, it’ll be releasing in Patch 7.35. Expected to release sometime in October, catch up on all the updates in our summary on Icy Veins! It covers everything you need to know from unlocking it, what rewards to expect, and the new challenge duty, The Final Verse!

Pilgrim’s Traverse Overview

In preparation for the Pilgrim’s Traverse, which is located in Il Mheg from Shadowbringers, certain Rank S and Rank A elite marks will also have their spawn locations adjusted. Hunt Train enthusiasts, beware!

Occult Crescent Changes

If you’ve been frustrated with Forked Tower since its launched, then hopefully the Patch 7.3 updates will help you! Since there are no other updates for Occult Crescent this patch, maybe teach a new friend how to clear Forked Tower? Here is a summary of all the changes previously announced below:

  • An alliance of 24 players or more (no less!) will have their own exclusive instance for 10 minutes after queuing in. After 10 minutes have passed, the instance will open up to any player in queue.
  • The Auroral Mirage weather effect will happen 5 minutes in, which is when players can begin queuing for the Forked Tower: Blood.
  • To enter the Forked Tower: Blood, the minimum number of Sanguine Ciphers required increased to 24. You must offer a Sanguine Cipher to be eligible for the Forked Tower: Blood, with priority given to those who offer more.

In addition, the critical encounter Calamity Bound will have its Seal Asunder mechanic adjusted for the number of participants. Phantom Weapons will be updated in Patch 7.31, which is expected sometime September.

PvP Changes

Starting in Patch 7.3, the following PvP seasons will take place:

  • Crystalline Conflict Season 16
  • PvP Series 9

Players can continue to obtain previous PvP Series rewards from the Trophy Crystal exchange. For any unclaimed rewards from PvP Series 8, you can access them through the PvP Profile window’s Series Malmstones feature.

In addition, there are also three (3!!!) new equipment sets to exchange with Trophy Crystals. Any job or class can wear these, so be sure to pick them up!

For Crystalline Conflict, there is a new arena called the Bayside Battleground. This arena is included when queuing up for casual/ranked matches. In addition, all arena maps added a visual timer for medicine kit respawns, along with a reduction on respawn time. To make queuing for casual matches easier, parties of 2 players can play Crystalline Conflict together!

Last, but not least, the new Crystalline Conflict Season 16 introduces 2 new ranking tiers: Omega and Ultima. For a full rundown of how the Crystal Credit scoring works, see below:

Glamour Changes

There are a good number of changes to glamours and related content, so let’s review!

The developers added new hat and hairstyle options for both Vieras and Hrothgars. In addition, Vieras now have the option to hide their ears when wearing certain hat designs. If your hairstyle has bangs (also known as a fringe), it’ll now be visible when wearing certain headgear (such as hoods or hats).

Secondary Dye Channels have been added to a whole bucket list of items! For the full list, see the Patch Notes:

  • Stormblood Artifact Weapons and Eureka Weapons (Level 70)
  • PvP Republican Gear (Wolf Marks)
  • PvP Late Allagan Gear (Wolf Marks)
  • PvP Universal Gear (Trophy Crystals)
  • and more!

Regardless of gender, any Warrior of Light can now equip either Far Eastern gear sets available from the Mogstation Online Store. Why not consider picking them up in the upcoming Anniversary Sale?

Graphical Improvements for equipment models have extended to the following items. For the full list, see the Patch Notes:

  • Endwalker Artifact Gear (Level 89)
  • Manderville Weapons
  • Doman Liege’s Set (from the Mogstation Online Store)
  • and more!

There are additional visual effects you can apply to Group Pose photos, including a filter intensity slider. Portrait Mode is also new to Patch 7.3, where you can create a full-sized portrait without having to rotate the image yourself! There are other Group Pose changes that I won’t cover, including sitting emote changes; it’s best for you to experience it yourself!

Phoenix Down Changes

One of the biggest quality-of-life changes introduced in Patch 7.3 is for Phoenix Downs! They’re commonly used to raise Warriors of Light off the ground, but often find little to no use outside of Deep Dungeons (especially if you’re playing as a Healer).

Starting from Patch 7.3, Phoenix Downs have been revamped with the following changes:

  • Anyone can be raised via Phoenix Down, party member or not
  • Can use in most instanced duties: Check the duty descriptions for restrictions
  • The guildhest Solemn Trinity and the trial The Great Hunt (Extreme) are excepted, as they have unique conditions
  • Range, Cast, and Recast have been adjusted
  • Phoenix Downs can be stacked up to 999.
  • Purchasable from NPC Vendors for Gil

System Changes

To accommodate for blacklist adjustments introducing in Patch 7.3, certain local client data will be reset. This includes Blacklist Comments (since Patch 7.0) and everything on the Mute List (previously global, now it’s per-character). You can also only blacklist players from the Contacts List while you are logged in. For more information, see the official news post on the Lodestone.

Previously covered in this article is also a new UI update for enemy progress bars! For more information, see the relevant section above!

Last but not least for system changes, we have chat bubbles now! They can be customized based on which channel and how you say it, but can be disabled if you’d like. This feature is not available in instanced duties, but may change in the future. Test out the feature yourself when Patch 7.3 is live!

Miscellaneous Changes (Another Free Fantasia!)

If you’ve been stockpiling your Bicolor Gemstones, save no more! There are new items to exchange from the Gemstone Trader NPC Kajeel Ja in Tuliyollal (X:12.9, Y:13.1). If you have a lot of MGP from the last Gold Saucer event, check out the new prizes available.

In addition to new items to buy, you can also expect new adventure plate accents and portrait poses available.

There are also new retainer exploration ventures, including quick exploration venture rewards. Make sure your retainers aren’t slacking on the job!

Due to some graphical changes, the developers are also giving away another free Fantasia! You can speak with the wandering moogle in Old Gridania (X:10.7, Y:6.4) to obtain. This Fantasia is available for all characters (even new ones!) until Patch 7.4 releases. Currently, Patch 7.4 is expected to release sometime in December.

As a reminder, there is currently 1 free Fantasia to obtain before the Patch 7.3 maintenance on Monday. Be sure to pick it up before it’s gone, or else the Yan is going to get you!

We hope you’ve enjoyed our summary for Patch 7.3’s Patch Notes! This is still not enough to cover everything that was introduced in Patch 7.3, so be sure to check the official Patch Notes when they release this upcoming Tuesday, August 5th at 3:00AM PDT!
