Guardian Legendary Cloak

5 posts in this topic

Perhaps i'm missing something here, but the legendary tanking cloak for Guardian spec looks a bit... weak. I'm already at the expertise cap for Guardian and I don't think Guardians have much use for mastery. Anyhow, looking at Fen-Yu, Fury of Xuen, it has all the stats I'm looking for, save for mastery which I could probably just reforge into another stat. Flurry of Xuen also grants us yet another AoE, v. Qian-Le, which gives us a "Cheat Death"-esque ability... which probably is useless because healers exist, and it's not like 1 extra second before I die will make a whole lot of difference when we wipe. I may be missing something incredibly obvious that I'm not seeing, but it seems like Fen-Yu is a better item for Guardian than Qian-Le is. So, my question is: should I get Fen-Yu, Fury of Xuen, or should I get Qian-Le?

Get both.

The tank proc is far from useless, Cheat Death mechanics give huge leeway to healers and tanks on progression fights and a fair amount of mechanics can be cheesed, like Ironstars on Garrosh.

like said above, get both.

it costs 7k to buy a new cape, and another ~87 g to buy the essence.  the essence will BOTH turn the cape into legendary and upgrade it the 2x vp 4 ilvl

I had the same question for my prot pally (stats much nicer on the dps vs tank one) and ended up getting both, and i switch based on the fight (although yes, there is lots of room to say that the dps one is just as good/better than the tank one for 90% of the time.  but as pointed out, there are times that you WILL want the tanking one.)

If you've already got a DPS epic cloak, you'll get the DPS legendary when you turn it in. You can buy the tanking one separately and upgrade it as well (the item to upgrade is cheap, just not the cloak). If you have yet to choose your 600 epic, get the tanking one. The tank proc is more useful than you think, and the DPS cloak proc is detuned for tanks so you don't get the same RPPM as a melee class.

I agree with the others, if you can afford it get both.

The cloak may have its proc reduced, but it can still do some significant damage.  I have had the cloak proc do over 25k dps on Galakras.  If you can get two helms, I'd recommend having one with the DPS meta as well that you can use on fights where you have little danger of dying.

Arielle at who knows far more than I ever will has some posts on his site where he suggests what legendary pieces to use on what boss.

Hate to be another needy fellow who is having a hard time analyzing the logs, but I'm trying to dig through and see what I'm doing wrong, but I can't find it all...
I have Greenskins Waterlogged bracers, so i've thrown BttE into the rotation (when I remember to check the CD) and follow with the next PS proc (hopefully Blunderbuss!) that's my only rotation variation I'm attempting. I havent been using ghostly strike, because I have a terrible time remembering to keep it up, but I'm going to try again. (I wasn't specced  with GS for these logs)
I think I might be having an issue with casting PS/BB too much, but I'm sure there are other issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ShadowCraft: (SC seems to be weird, is it not yet fully capable of handling all the ilvl variations?)
      Thanks a bunch guys.
Edit: note: I know I'm using old pots/flasks, I'm a bit behind on being able to upgrade, so I'm currently only using current pots/flasks on some occasions.

Just wondering if anyone is using a PAWN string or Simcraft in a guardian druid, I was using noxxic one but seems like its not updated. If anyone could provide me one i'd be grateful.

I've been healing as resto for my raid team and now I was asked to swap to a guardian druid due to changes in the raid team.
The icy veins guide says the stat priority is Versatility>=Master > Haste and crit as dead last, where as Noxxic says Master>Haste>Versatility, so at the moment a little unsure on which stats to prioritise to move forward.
Also this is my current gear as it stands
Will I be able to effectively tank HC raid bosses with the current stats I have or will I be better off sacrificing ilvl for stats ?
      Thanks alot in advance!

      Hey ,
i have a question regarding the leg. bracers.
Is there any change in playstyle and stat weights when u have  / use them ?
I guess one uses SS at 5 instead of 3 right ? to use it most efficent ?

So on paper this thing seems pretty damn good (if mana isn't going to be an issue).
I got one last night and it very quickly became apparent that the proc is often difficult to utilize optimally. I'm often casting penance right after applying a bunch of atonements and I'll follow it up with a chain of Smites. Because of the way latency works and the best practice of pre-casting just before your gcd completes, it often happens that I cast a Smite, the belt procs and Penance is taken off cooldown, but I'm already casting another Smite because by the time the server gets back to me and tells me Penance is off cooldown, even though it's technically happening instantly when Smite finishes, it's too late and I'm casting something else already. So that GCD is much less effective than it technically could have been.
Because Penance is on such a short cooldown anyways, this often happens when it's one GCD away from coming off cooldown, so the proc itself is completely wasted and it just feels crappy to watch that happen.
Is there any trick, addon or macro I can use to reduce the frequency of this happening, besides waiting half a second after every Smite just to see if the belt procced before using my next spell? Or should I just accept that my Penances are very often going to be used one GCD later than they theoretically could have been?
First world problems, I know, but it would be really cool if I had a way to capitalize on every proc the moment it happens.
