2. Strategy

This Low Budget Priest Control Deck offers a solid minion base that will help you establish board control early, and bring the game to the late stages where your cards excel.

The early game can often be played rather aggressively which allows you to push towards board control from the very start. Northshire Cleric is usually used for card advantage with your Hero Power. Your cost-efficient minions (Cleric included) can also be buffed with Power Word: Shield, for amazing board presence.

Undertaker will gain value each time you play a card with Deathrattle and, since your early game mostly consists of such minions, you can put immense pressure on your opponent.

Loot Hoarder offers card efficiency and should you be able to trade it for another minion, you will likely create card advantage.

Zombie Chow and Deathlord offer amazing value for their cost and despite their Deathrattle being a drawback, you have various means of diminishing it. Deathlord can easily be sustained with your Hero Power, Circle of Healing and Power Word: Shield, while Zombie Chow can be turned into 5 Damage to your opponent with Auchenai Soulpriest.

Circle of Healing is extremely powerful, as it will help you sustain your board value and when used with Auchenai Soulpriest, you will be able to wipe the board clean and turn it back in your favor.

Holy Nova provides AoE damage and healing, which will often prove to be essential against minion-heavy aggressive decks. It can also create card advantage, especially when used to heal minions with Northshire Cleric on the board.

Holy Fire can take out most mid-range minions as well as provide valuable healing. Keep in mind that Holy Fire will damage you if you have Auchenai Soulpriest on the board, and should be used with caution in such cases.

Cabal Shadow Priest may appear expensive, however it can often create card advantage, especially when used to take control of a minion such as Acolyte of Pain, and many other 2-attack minions that have decent abilities.

Loatheb provides solid minion value and will cause nightmares to any spell heavy opponent. With proper anticipation, you can easily destroy your opponent's plans and prevent a potential board wipe.

2.1. Synergies and Combinations

Northshire Cleric and the healing provided by your Hero Power, Circle of Healing, or Holy Nova will always create card advantage.

Auchenai Soulpriest will turn all healing into damage, which can be used to set up interesting combos:

  • Circle of Healing will often clear the entire board, as it provides a global 4-damage AoE;
  • your Hero Powe can be used to take out your opponent's minions;
  • Zombie Chow's Deathrattle will deal 5 damage to your opponent, instead of healing them.

Baron Rivendare will trigger the effect of your Deathrattle minions, which can results in amazing combos:

Beware, though, as having a Deathlord and Zombie Chow will also trigger their detrimental Deathrattle twice if they die while Baron Rivendare is on the board (although for Zombie Chow, this can be negated by having an Auchenai Soulpriest on the board, as already pointed out).

2.2. Mulligan / Starting Hand

In general you should attempt to mulligan for as aggressive a hand as possible in order to start building your board presence in early game.

Auchenai Soulpriest can be kept, if you suspect your opponent is playing a minion heavy aggressive deck. This way, you can aim for a turn 4 board wipe with Circle of Healing. In any other situation, however, you should mulligan it away.

2.3. Card Swaps

Should you need to replace Cabal Shadow Priest, you can consider Argent Commander as a suitable replacement.
