The Marksmanship specialisation provides sustained single-target DPS as well as good AoE DPS. Compared to the other two Hunter specialisations, Marksmanship is behind both Beast Mastery and Survival, in both single target and AoE. Compared to other classes and specs, it is towards the bottom end of the DPS rankings.

Currently, there is very little reason to choose Marksmanship over Beast Mastery or Survival.
