General Information

Welcome to our Outlaw Rogue DPS guide for World of Warcraft Legion 7.0.3. Here, you will learn everything you need to know about playing a Outlaw Rogue in a raid environment, although most of the content also applies to normal and heroic dungeons.

About Our Author

This guide has been written by Furty who raids in Serenity, one of the top World of Warcraft guilds. He plays most classes at the highest level. You can follow him on Twitter and watch him play on Twitch.

1. Class Overview

Ahoy! Outlaw Rogue is a brand new specialization in Legion, though many of its mechanics are mirrors of its forefather, Combat Rogue. Just like Combat, Outlaw is a fantastic jack of all trades that can comfortably handle any situation or fight type. Between the three Rogue specializations, Outlaw is by far the most effective in situations involving heavy cleave or AoE. While it does not shine as brightly on single target, this spec is most at home when crawling through thick trash packs in dungeons and wading through massive AoE on bosses. Outlaw has good sustained damage and is great at applying pressure instantly, as it is very unreliant on cooldowns.

2. What Has Changed?

  • The name of the specialization!
  • Many abilities have renamed and reskinned.
  • Outlaw is able to deal some damage and generate Combo Points from range.
  • Poisons removed.
  • Many glyphs are no longer present within the game.
  • Many changes to the talent tree, including a variety of new abilities and passives.

3. Strengths

  • Excels at dealing AoE damage (4+ targets)
  • Solid sustained damage, unreliant on cooldowns
  • Good target switching potential

4. Weaknesses

  • Weak single target compared with Assassination and Subtlety.
  • Average burst outside of Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust.
  • Less specialized than its brethren specializations.
  • Average cleave (3 targets or less).

5. Viability in the Current Patch

Outlaw is very viable currently. Although it is currently the weakest Rogue spec, across all classes it sits somewhere in the middle of the pack. It is especially strong on fights with heavy cleave and AoE, like Shadow Lord Iskar and Hellfire Assault. Even if this is not your primary specialization, it is a staple offspec for all raiding Rogues as it is the only Rogue specialization that can effectively deal with AoE.
