General Information

Welcome to our Windwalker Monk DPS guide for World of Warcraft Legion 7.1.5. Here, you will learn everything you need to know about playing a Windwalker Monk in a raid environment and in Mythic+ dungeons.

About Our Reviewer

This guide has been reviewed and approved by Babylonius, a prominent Windwalker Monks theorycrafter who maintains Walking the Wind. You can follow him on Twitter: @BabyloniusMonk.

1. Class Overview

The Windwalker specialisation has strong priority target damage, very good AoE damage, and smooth rotations.

In terms of actual output, it is likely to be on par with most other melee specialisations. Moreover, Windwalkers generally perform very well in dungeons.

2. What Has Changed in Legion?

The Windwalker specialisation has changed somewhat from Warlords of Draenor.

  • Stance of the Fierce Tiger has been removed.
  • Jab has been removed.
  • Tigereye Brew has been removed.
  • Combo Breaker has been removed.
  • Mastery has been changed to Mastery: Combo Strikes Icon Mastery: Combo Strikes.
  • Expel Harm has been removed.
  • Fortifying Brew and Zen Meditation have been removed.

3. Patch 7.1.5 Changes

  • Dizzying Kicks (talent) has been removed and replaced with Summon Black Ox Statue Icon Summon Black Ox Statue (which works exactly the same as the Brewmaster talent of the same name).
  • Rushing Jade Wind Icon Rushing Jade Wind now applies Mark of the Crane Icon Mark of the Crane to up to 5 nearby targets.
  • Ring of Peace Icon Ring of Peace has been changed to now no longer require a player target, and to knock enemies out of its radius.
  • Diffuse Magic Icon Diffuse Magic now has a 90-second cooldown (down from 2 minutes).
  • Dampen Harm Icon Dampen Harm now causes attacks made against you for 10 seconds to have their damage reduced by 20-50% (with larger attacks being reduced more).
