Choosing your race is one of the first decisions you'll make in Ashes of Creation, shaping your character's appearance, culture, and lore. In this guide, we'll break down every playable race in Ashes of Creation, including their backgrounds, benefits, aesthetic styles, and more.
Every Race in Ashes of Creation Explained
Ashes of Creation offers a diverse selection of playable races, each with its own rich lore, culture, and even appearance. In total, there will be nine unique races to choose from when creating your character. This in-depth guide covers all nine of these races, detailing everything you need to know about each before making this important decision. Whether you're a new player planning your first character or a veteran theorycrafting the perfect look, this guide will help you choose the race the best fits your gameplay style.
Racial Benefits
As of today, the race that you select will only impact the visual appearance of your character. Gear appearance of certain armor sets is influenced by the player's race, making the visual representation slightly unique for each armor piece across each of the different types of races. Although each of these races have very different lore and backgrounds, when making this selection, you should prioritize which race is most visually pleasing when making your decision.
There have been rumors that additional racial benefits may be added to Ashes of Creation as the game approaches its official launch, such as racial augments that provide a "unique flavor to primary skills based on a character's race", but as of today, these are not implemented. As more information is released for each race, this guide will be updated to ensure it captures everything you need to know about every available race in Ashes of Creation.

must be fought wherever it creeps. Unlike the other races, the Tulnar does not have a formal "family" in which
there is another race involved. Instead, they are refugees that not only survived, but have thrived despite its tormenting
presence in the world above.
In the caves and caverns below the surface, the survivors from all walks above came together below, pooled resources, skills, and knowledge to build a tightly-knit community on trust and necessity. Mysterious magical wards throughout the massive caves and caverns sealed them all underground, until the Divine Gates reopened unexpectdly. Cautiously, the Tulnar race returned back to the surface of Verra to greet the other races and coexist.
The Tulnar race is not currently available in the game, but is coming soon.
