Patch 12.0.5 brings some minor adjustments to Demonology Warlock, with the aim
to make both Grimoire choices similarly appealing and a fix to Antoran Jailer
summon which would previously result in damage being lost at higher Haste
values.
Demonology
- Developers’ notes: We are updating Grimoire: Fel Ravager to utilize
Devour Magic instead of Spell Lock due to how powerful having access to
a second interrupt is in all forms of content. Secondly, we are
updating the spell the Antoran Jailer uses when summoned by the
Dominion of Argus apex talent. This new version will reduce tuning
constraints as its scalability will no longer be controlled by an
unlimited target count.
- Grimoire: Fel Ravager has been updated: Summons a Fel Ravager to
assist you in combat for 20 seconds and will purge 1 beneficial magic
effect from an enemy. Turns into Devour Magic while on cooldown.
- Antoran Jailer’s Soul Barrage has been updated: Releases a volley of
Chaos magic that deals Chaos damage to the target and up to 10
additional targets within 10 yards.

March 24th changes see another small reduction in Demonology overall
output, which should account to around 5k dps loss in single target at the
top end. Demonology still remains the numerically best Warlock specialisation
up until 5 targets.
Demonology
- All ability damage reduced by 4%.

With the launch of Season 1, Demonology Warlock received a handful of changes, and
Blizzard previously stated that there is more tuning to come in the following weeks. The
season launch changes clearly aim to tone down some of the overperformance of the
spec up until now, as it was performing exceptionally well. One of the main culprits was the
random output depending on which Apex Summon you would get, which is why they received different
nerfs to their output.
The Soul Harvester changes target most the splash damage, and come alongside some
single-target compensatory buffs. The end result is a clearer use case for both Hero Trees,
with
Soul Harvester still being the preferred choice for single-target, and
Diabolist being better in multitarget environments.
Demonology
- Dominion of Argus Antoran Inquisitor damage reduced by 5%, Antoran
Jailer damage reduced by 45%, Lady Sacrolash damage increased by 35%, and
Grand Warlock Alythess damage increased by 35%.
- Soul Harvester: Demonic Soul damage reduced by 55%.
- Soul Harvester: Manifested Demonic Soul damage reduced by 50%.
- Soul Harvester: Soul Anathema damage reduced by 35%.
- Soul Harvester: Wicked Reaping damage increased by 50%.
- Soul Harvester: Demoniac's Fervor now increases damage dealt by
Demonic Soul by 200% to the main target of Hand of Gul'dan.
