Gold Making: Obliterum

Recommended Posts

I made the mistake of spamming that macro without watching and Obliterated a bunch of Epics

Here's a safer macro that only works on Rare quality and not Epic.

Yeah thats probably my fault for not mentioning it.  I always mailed off or disenchanted my epics before Obliterating.  Apologies!

Couple of viewers have told me about the addon Easy Obiterate so I've just tried it and its a LOT better than just using the macro - tyvm for helping out though much appreciated.

Easy Obliterate @ curse as mentioned above.

It populates all obliteratabl items, you can right click all the stuff you want to skip and set it to autofill the slot. Pretty user friendly.

i haven't invested in upgrading crafteds yet so ive gotten in the habit of keeping them in the bank anyway.

I just swapped my 850ilvl 7/7 crafted gloves after getting a boss drop - managed to get 202 ash for it.  So 2 obliterum back (I'll add this to main thread)

Sounds like they buffed it then, or perhaps the other guy was unlucky. Perhaps there is a "range" of ash values that is pretty large

I'll keep asking people I know who are obliterating gear that is at different stages see if we can get an average figure at all.

Will also post mine. If anyone is reading/commenting that has done this, feel free to share any figures you have too.

I'll try and get some more data first - I think it's safe to say noone will ever upgrade just to obliterate for gold purposes, but for those using the gear, being able to get some gold "back" after it has stopped being useful is nice.

So I quested through my leather working and obliterum quest. and as far as i can see it's not worth the effort to follow these instructions. I've been tracking the DE and obliterum rates and the Blood DE rate is nearing 1% which means you need to disenchant 200 bindings to make 1 belt (for 2 bloods). And you need 5 belts to make 1 oblitierum (Obliterum rate as has been about 19.52 ash per belt).  In the end youre making gold off of leylight shards, but not much more if you were just out right selling them. And all of this is with stonhide leather at 5G. Please tell me if Im doing something wrong, but it just seems like this is more of a way to sell obliterum as a byproduct of disenchanting.

Hey there!

I'm honestly not sure how relevant the guide is anymore, given that it was made in September. I'm not sure if there were any changes to how Obliterum works since then, but it's worth noting that this method will depend on your realm, as you have said.

I would imagine that, with the new BoS vendor, there are probably other ways of utilising your bloods to better effect.

Ah cool thanks :) I guess i figured there should be a post mentioning this method might be currently deprecated.

It's essentially just me "assuming", it very well may still work on certain realms. I think that's why it was left as is!

this is an old thread but my question has to about making money with the forge since patch 7.2 since everyone has access to the forge.

I had a bunch crafted gear that I used the forge for and it I thought this be good way to make some coin and get rid of unwanted gear but the small amount of obliterated I was getting per piece I dont why anyone would use this forge unless they had made tons of items they want to get rid of to save space and there not going to sell them anyways.

But I didnt do the math to see if this is still worthwhile way to make money so I asking here for some feedback thanks.

Also its annoying that when getting any of the obliterated items there soulbound which is another annoying part of the game for me at least.

I think obliterating enchants and selling them on reset (Tuesday) can still net you good gold, but overall, prices of Obliterum went down with 7.2.

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
