Recommended Posts

Guest Minoxidil

Really liked the guide. Im still leveling and using a different build, but once i reach lvl 90, im using these tips.

The only thing you should focus more is on stats section, since 6.0 will chance a lot on this subject

So you are saying that Crit(aside from Multi) is now the primary stat? What about shadow craft and other theory crafter suggesting that haste is sitll the better option?

This guide was reviewed by Fiery Demise and he said there is no problem with the stat priority. As far as I know, there are issues in ShadowCraft, which result in the tool overvaluing Haste in certain cases. You can read about it on Ravenholdt: http://ravenholdt.net/index.php/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=47#p203

Rupture tips in the detailed section for combat rogues. Don't know if you missed that.

Shouldn't we now make ability_rogue_kidneyshot.jpgKidney Shot part of the rotation thanks to ability_rogue_bloodsplatter.jpgInternal Bleeding ?

That's a good question. The problem is that the bleed doesn't get applied on mobs immune to stuns, so you can't benefit from it against raid bosses. That said, it does a huge amount of damage against mobs that are not immune to stuns. I played around with it a bit this morning and it does like 3 times more damage than Eviscerate, so I'm definitely going to talk to Fiery Demise about it, so we can add a mention of that in the guides.

Thanks, they're gone now!

Now Ask Mr Robot is too showing haste as the better option as well.  I have noticed slight improvement with crit but I haven't ran any definitive tests.

When you have an equal amount of Crit and Haste, Crit is still slightly better than Haste in my testing. When you have more Haste than Crit (which seems to be the norm in T16 gear), Crit definitely pulls ahead.

Just because i'm new to the rogue guide and a little confused. In section 2 on multiple target rotation it says:

When fighting 2 or more enemies, turn on wow_icon_ability_warrior_punishingblow.jBlade Flurry and proceed with your single-target rotation on one of the enemies. Maintain the wow_icon_inv_knife_1h_cataclysm_c_05.jpgCrimson Tempest DoT.

When fighting 5 or more enemies, wow_icon_inv_knife_1h_cataclysm_c_05.jpgCrimson Tempest should replace wow_icon_ability_rogue_eviscerate.jpgEviscerate as your primary Finishing Move.

I'm confused because with more than 5 enemies wouldn't want to keep crimson tempest as your primary finishing move? And use eviscerate as the primary with 2-4 while only using crimson tempest if the enemies will last long enough to make it a dps increase over eviscerate? I'm just not understanding why eviscerate takes priority over crimson tempest on 5+ enemies.

Did you not notice that combat potency benefits from a slow weapon in your OH??? I think you should look at combat rogues again and not just say, hey slow weapon in the MH

This was a bit confusing, so I am going to reword "2 or more enemies" into "2, 3, or 4 enemies". Sorry about that.

Combat Potency does not benefit from a slow weapon in the Off-Hand slot. Slow weapons do have a higher chance to proc it, but it's only to compensate for the fact that slow weapons attack less often.

I´m a little confused on a subject: How "far" (read horrible) is the stats between haste and critical strike? Can you be "capped" at haste?

It is very close. I just ran a simulation on the Tier 17 Heroic profile in SimC, setting all the secondary stats at a value of 800, and Haste comes out with a weight of 2.79 and Critical Strike with a weight of 2.42.

There is no real Haste cap, except for when you hit the GCD, but we're a long way from it in the expansion.

Hey, I've read all your rogue guides to such high extent! I find Sub the most fun, but I feel like I'm not doing as much damage as I should. Should I consider switching specs? And if so, which spec would be the superior one?

I am 633 ilvl and doing around 16k dps.

When did Combat start wanting to use DfA? I can't find any other sites currently recommending it over Venom Rush, especially not since it was hotfixed to not grant multiple combot points.

Hi! While I main a holy priest, my combat rogue has always been my number 1 alt and these guides have always been a great help in learning how to pretend to be good at melee :p

I just have a quick question about Crimson Tempest usage on 2-4 targets. Should I always be casting it at 5 combo points, or if it's about to fall off should I reapply the DoT at whatever number of combo points I have (in a similar fashoin to how we've traditionally treated SnD)?

Thanks in advance!

Here when you mention maintain the Crimson Tempest DoT, is it simply for the sake of the DoT or because the damage over time is worth it? Real question being since a 1 point or 5 point Crimson Tempest doesn't affect the length (both 12 seconds), are we aiming for 5 points or does it matter? I vaguely remember a passive from one of the talent specs giving energy regen for bleeds - is that still a thing?

There is no cap you should currently be concerned about.

Take a look at that to get an idea: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/statistics/6/

Sorry about that. They hotfixed it shortly after Spazzo's review and then I was unavailable for some time to fix the guide. It's fixed now.

what is the rotation with death from above?

I have just removed DfA from the rotation, so do not worry about it anymore.

I'll ask Spazzo for confirmation, but my belief is that you can and therefore should maintain it with 5 Combo Points. With 5 Combo Points, the DoT deals more damage and also grants you a poison buff that lasts longer.

So, for the opener, after you ambush, why would you not immediately vanish and ambush again, then revealing strike, then 5pt SnD?  I have been doing this and it feels right.

Wondering why on the guide @ https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/combat-rogue-pve-dps-gems-enchants-consumables thathas been approved both "FieryDemise" and "Spazzo" are using mulitistrike and not haste as they have approved?

I've just checked Spazzo and he's stacking Haste, not multistrike.

So, for the opener, after you ambush, why would you not immediately vanish and ambush again, then revealing strike, then 5pt SnD?  I have been doing this and it feels right.

That's because you want to spend as few Combo Points as possible before having cast Killing Spree and Adrenaline Rush. This way, you will have more Combo Points available to reduce the cooldown of Killing Spree and Adrenaline Rush (through Ruthlessness).

With Venom Rush being the top pick wouldn't it be better to go with Leeching Poison? Most bosses are immune to Crippling Poison (unless they really changed things since I last checked) so Leeching Poison, while the health gain wouldn't be that much, it would give you the bonus to energy regeneration.

Discover everything you need to know about the War Within pre-patch event, Radiant Echoes. Learn about the activities you can participate in, the rewards up for grabs, and the expected release date for the live servers.
When Will the War Within Pre-Patch Event Start?
MoP Remix ends on August 19 so we expect the War Within pre-patch to hit live servers alongside this event on August 20, 2024.
      Radiant Echoes Across Azeroth
Periodically, Azeroth's memories will bubble up in the Dustwallow March, Searing Gorge, and Dragonblight. Here, players must kill mobs to summon an echo of a powerful villain from the past.
The Radiant Echo culminates in defeating Remembered Onyxia in Dustwallow Marsh, Remembered Firelord in Searing Gorge, and Remembered Lich King in Dragonblight.

Based on datamining, we are more than certain that the event will be basically the same as the Worldsoul Memory Events in Khaz Algar.
      Trading Post Activities
The following Trading Post activities are tied to Radiant Echoes.

      Spells
We found the following spells in the game that are tied to Radiant Echoes:
Radiant Chord - Release the Radiant Chord at a Radiant Echo allowing you to experience Azeroth's memories.. Able to perceive and interact with Radiant Echoes, experiencing Azeroth's memories. Memory of Cheated Death - The next time you would die within a Radiant Echo, you don't.. Memory of Cheated Death - The next time you die within a Radiant Echo, you won't. Lasts for 5 min and is removed when triggered. Radiant Echoes Currency
You will be collecting Residual Memories from enemies to purchase rewards from Remembrancer Amuul <Residual Memories Vendor> in Dalaran.
      War Within Pre-Patch Event Rewards
Remembrancer Amuul in Dalaran is selling all the rewards tied to the pre-patch event. The rewards include gear, pets, bags, and a craftabler Heirloom ring.
      Warbound Gear
When you're thinking about subscribing to WoW around the time of the event, you will be pleased to learn that you can buy Item Level 493 (1/8 Rank) Champion gear for Radiant Memories.
The gear carries the "Dalaran's Defender" prefix and you can find a full list of available items over on WoWDB.

The gear available from the vendor also includes Dalaran-themed weapons.
      Trinkets
In addition to gear, you can also buy the following trinkets from the vendor:
Faded Ebony Scale Shriveled Ancient Tentacle Weathered Northrend Crest Bags
Two bags can be purchased during the pre-patch event:
Recruit's Reagent Bag (Warbound 30-slot reagent bag); Defender's Hefty Satchel (Warbound 32-slot regular bag). Battle Pets
3 Battle Pets can be purchased from Amuul. These cost 25 Residual Memories each.
Remembered Riverpaw Remembered Spawn Remembered Construct
      Mounts
Two mounts can be purchased during the event:
      Remembered Golden Gryphon
They love eagles in Stormwind and the gryphon is half eagle. This is why these creatures are a stable to air travel throughout the alliance.

      Remembered Wind Rider
Hundreds of battles across a dozen campaigns have been fought and won on the backs of these honored creatures.

      Heirloom Ring
Players must combine three essences (Essence of the Eastern Kingdoms, Essence of Northrend, Essence of Kalimdor) from the event's "bosses" and a Lifeless Stone Ring to create a new Heirloom Ring called Band of Radiant Echoes.
Lifeless Stone Ring can be purchased from the pre-patch event gear vendor in Dalaran.
Each essence requires combining 20 memories (e.g. Memory of Kalimdor) that drop from mobs during the event. These are Warbound and shared across all characters on your account.
Stay tuned for more details about the pre-patch event!

We're taking a closer look at Worldsoul Memory, a new open-world event that will be part of the War Within pre-patch, and later, Khaz Algar.
In the War Within pre-patch, the Worldsoul Memory event will take place in 3 different locations across Azeroth. Basically it's the same version as we'll see later in Khaz Algar.
Places with Worldsoul Memories will be marked on your map, here's one in the southern Isle of Dorn.

Before you can start the event, you must farm Radiant Echoes from mobs in the open world by combining 10 Radiant Chords.
When you enter the area with a Worldsoul Memory, there will be this giant Azerite ball that you must interact with to begin the event.

Subsequently, a new window will open, informing you about the event. As said above, you must deposit 1 Radiant Echo to receive the Worldsoul Memory buff for 5 minutes.

While under the effect of Worldsoul Memory, you will enter a different phase, where you must kill mobs and elites under 5 minutes.

These drop Coffer Key Shards that are combined into keys used in the treasure room to open Bountiful Coffers when you complete delves.

When you complete your first Worldsoul Memory event, you will receive The First Echo and unlock even more difficulties.

The next time you will start the event, there will be more options for you to choose from, you can:
Spend 1 Radiant Echo again to start a Radiant Echo; Release 10 Radiant Echoes at once, increasing your rewards from this memory tenfold; Start a Radiant Discord, which is the hardest difficulty for this event and the Mythic Challenge means you will lose the  Worldsoul Memory upon death and be immediately removed from the vision, meaning you must again spend echoes to start anew.
There are multiple Worldsoul Memory Events available in Khaz Algar and all have long timers, so if you're looking for that endless grind, you will only need a lot of Radiant Echoes.
      Rewards
Fragments of Memories rewards the Memory Chord toy. Echoes of Danger gives you the Echochaser title.

We have confirmation that the only way to get the World Boss mounts in Mists of Pandaria Remix is via Bronze!
      World Bosses (Source)
Telinastus: In Remix, yes. But don’t forget that you can go pummel those same bosses on your Dragonflight characters.
A basic rule-of-thumb for Remix is: quests drop their original loot, but bosses do not.

We have an almost quad-feature in the hotfixes today, as retail, Remix and Cataclysm Classic have quite a few improvements, and even Season of Discovery sneaks in with one! From trinket changes in 10.2.7 to cloak achievement and Yak Fur fixes in Remix, class adjustments and double BG honor in Cata, there's plenty to see.
       June 3 (Source)
      Dungeons and Raids
Neltharus Fixed an issue where canceling Dragon Strike using invisibility will lead to Chargath not casting Grounding Chain. Items
Fixed an issue where Augury of the Primal Flame would not proc certain effects such as Seal of Diurna's Chosen and Seal of Filial Duty. Fixed an issue where Tome of Unstable Power could proc from non-class spell effects such as self-damage from Vessel of Searing Shadow. Player versus Player
Victories in Solo Shuffle now reward 5 crests (was 3) and victories in Rated 2v2 and Rated 3v3 Arenas now reward 2 crests (was 1). WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria
Mini Mana Bomb (Horde) and Theramore Tabard (Alliance) are now available from Horos at any Infinite Bazaar for players who have completed Theramore's Fall for their given faction on any Timerunner. Developers’ notes: There is no more need to complete it at exactly level 35. Fixed an issue where some steps of the Infinite Power achievements could be skipped for players. Tuft of Yak Fur, am I right? Now they stack. Cataclysm Classic
Honor rewards from completing a random battleground or a holiday battleground have been increased by 100%. Fixed an issue with Admiral Ripsnarl's visual effect. Fixed a bug preventing the completion of the achievement Acrocalypse Now. Priest Atonement healing will now de-prioritize pets, and will only heal them if their health is very low compared to available player targets. It will treat them as if their health percentage is 50% higher when evaluating targets. Fixed an issue with Shadowy Apparitions that prevented them from being summoned under certain circumstances. Shaman Fixed a problem with Precision where it was granting an unintended additional 1/2/3% chance to hit. Season of Discovery
Addressed an issue that caused quest "Goblin Solutions" to sneakily steal extra mines from you.
