How Skyriding Works in The War Within

Recommended Posts

Sn-mka-obrazovky-2024-04-19-o-18-37-42.j

Dragonriding has been renamed to Skyriding in The War Within and we're taking a closer look at how the system works!

More than 400 mounts have been updated with new animations to support Skyriding in The War Within. Skyriding and all the associated spells reside in your updated SpellbooK.

The Mounts tab has been updated with a new button that lets you switch flight style. You can switch between Skyriding and standard flying, but some zones still require the Pathfinder achievements to enable standard flying.

Dynamic Flight Talents cost Dragon Power. You will gain extra Skyriding power as you level up. This how Blizzard is changing the current Dragon Glyphs / talent system.

There are two new choice nodes to the right in the tree as you can see in the screenshot.

The first node lets you enable/disable the Ride Along feature.

The node beneath it lets you pick between Whirling Surge Whirling Surge or Lightning Rush Lightning Rush.

Small correction, it's called skyriding, not diving. Of course, you can still "dive" while flying. 😁

Wow. They actually made it worse.

Is there a list of flying mounts that DON'T support skyriding? Personally I really like the way it is now where I can just have two separate hotkeys and choose which fly mode I want to use any time. A 5 second cast to switch makes makes that waaaaaaaaaaaay more annoying and less convenient.

Maybe they could add a toggle to each mount as to whether or not it dragonrides when you mount it?

The only mounts that don't support skyriding are ground exclusive mounts, everything else can fly. If it can fly now, it can be used for skyriding. It's not that hard to understand.

Rare Patron

I wish they had made Skyriding gated behind the Pathfinder achievements not standard flying.  Why is Blizz forcing us the to use the "new" flying.  I can't get the hang of dragonflying.

Since we've entered the Cataclysm Classic pre-patch, we're taking a look at a couple of videos covering the many, many changes that arrived with the original Cataclysm way back in 2010, as they take us through all the major modifications! Cata was the biggest change ever introduced to the actual world of WoW, stepping from the classic look to a new one, and few zones on Azeroth were left untouched.
While the general feel of most zones was left intact, it's really staggering just how much changed, even with the smaller modifications. Let's start with Kalimdor, from the really big changes like Orgrimmar, the Barrens and Thousand Needles, to the smaller ones like Winterspring, there's plenty to see!
Then we're on to the Eastern Kingdoms, with Hillsbrad, Loch Modan and the Badlands (as well as parts of Stormwind) leading the way.

What's your most/least favorite change Cataclysm brought?
