This page provides an overview of the different Element types in Honkai: Star Rail. Learn how the elemental system works and gain a deeper understanding of how elements impact gameplay!
Different Elements and Effects in Honkai Star Rail
In Honkai Star Rail, enemies have weaknesses to certain elemental types. By choosing characters that match these elements, players can deal greater damage, break through the enemy’s Toughness faster, and trigger a Weakness Break to gain an advantage during combat.
Enemy Elemental Weaknesses
Before engaging in combat, check above the enemy’s head to identify its elemental weakness. This information helps you choose the most effective team for the battle. Keep in mind that elemental resistances and weaknesses are fixed, using an element the enemy is weak to won't deal extra damage, but it will reduce the enemy’s Toughness more effectively.
What is Weakness Break?
Weakness Breaks cause unique effects and additional damage to enemies during combat as well as delaying the enemies actions. Depending on the type of element being used the effects will be different. See the table below for additional information on each of the 7 Element:
Element Type | Weakness Break Effect & DMG |
---|---|
Fire | Inflicts Fire DMG Weakness Break - Applies Burn & Fire DoT (High DMG) |
Ice | Inflicts Ice DMG Weakness Break - Applies Freeze, preventing enemy from acting & dealing extra Ice DMG (Normal DMG; No DoT) |
Lightning | Inflicts Lightning DMG Weakness Break - Applies Shock & Lightning DoT (Normal DMG) |
Physical | Inflicts Physical DMG Weakness Break - Applies Bleed & Physical DoT (High DMG) |
Wind | Inflicts Wind DMG Weakness Break - Applies Wind Shear & Wind DoT (High DMG) |
Imaginary | Inflicts Imaginary DMG Weakness Break - Applies Imprisonment, causing enemy delay and reduced enemy speed (No DMG or DoT) |
Quantum | Inflicts Quantum DMG Weakness Break - Applies Entanglement, causing enemy delay & extra Quantum DMG on next turn increasing with each hit. (Low DMG; No DoT) |
What is Break Effect?
Break Effect is a character-specific stat which enhances a range of effects caused by weakness breaks. Characters specialising in breaking enemy toughness often heavily benefit from the Break Effect stat.
Break Effect boosts the impact of Weakness Breaks by increasing Break DMG, DoT, and delaying enemy actions further. Break Effect can be increased with:
- Certain Relic Sets
- Light Cones
- Character's Skills, Techniques and Buffs
- Simply Building the Break Effect Stat
