Ashes of Creation Cleric Best in Slot and Stat Priority
Learn more about everything you need to know about the best Cleric gear options available in Ashes of Creation. This guide will showcase the best Cleric gear options, where to find them, and what stats make them so valuable.
Best in Slot Clerc Gear
Let me be upfront, I'm not a huge fan of how stats currently function in the Ashes of Creation Alpha 2. Right now, gear lacks meaningful specialization. Most magical classes are chasing the exact same stat sticks, and physical classes aren't much better off. For Clerics in particular, there's very little gear that meaningfully supports healing power, and frankly, there's not much reason to prioritize it. Magical Power currently boosts both your damage and your healing, and it scales significantly better than raw Healing Power.
Because of this, you'll find that optimizing your Cleric means gearing much like a Mage or a Bard, stacking Intelligence and Magical Power above all else. While this makes it easier to share gear across builds, it also results in a fairly rigid meta, everyone wants the same pieces, and most crafted sets lean heavily in one direction or the other.
Once you hit level 20, you'll start gaining access to what could be considered your best-in-slot options. Some of these can be looted from mobs or bought off the marketplace, but true min-maxing will require crafting the highest quality versions-ideally Legendary. This takes coordination between multiple crafters, access to fully built artisan workbenches, and quite a bit of material farming.
Important Note: Gear quality matters a great deal in Ashes. Higher-quality pieces grant more stats, and some quality thresholds unlock additional bonuses entirely. At level 20, aim to gather solid Rare or Epic gear, then begin working toward crafting the Legendary versions of key items.
Diminishing Returns Warning: Once you reach around 200-210 Magical Power, you'll start to see diminished gains from stacking it further. At that point, it's smarter to begin focusing on complementary stats like Magical Critical Chance or Max Health, depending on whether you're leaning more into support or survivability.
The gear listed above highlights some of the strongest options available to Clerics in the current late-game of Alpha 2. That said, don't feel pressured to replicate each piece exactly, what truly matters is hitting the right stat benchmarks. Gear optimization in Ashes of Creation is a balancing act, not a checklist. Your goal should be around 200-230 Magical Power, a solid 4,500-5,000 Max Health, and a healthy boost to your Magical Critical Chance. Once you reach the soft cap for Magical Power, stacking Crit Chance becomes one of the most efficient ways to boost your effectiveness.
Let me be honest with you, gear stat distribution in Ashes of Creation's current iteration leaves a lot to be desired. Magic classes across the board are competing for the same limited pool of gear, and there's shockingly little available that's purpose-built for healers. Healing Power as a stat just doesn't hold up when compared to the scaling and availability of Magical Power. Right now, the meta is heavily skewed, and the stat system encourages everyone to chase the same few optimal pieces.
Clerics, in particular, should view all weapons as essentially stat sticks. While you technically have access to melee weapons like scepters, you'll almost always be operating at range, focusing on wands, bows, or spellbooks. These provide the raw Magical Power and secondary stats you need while letting you maintain safe positioning. Always prioritize the weapon that gives the most value in terms of Magical Power and Critical Chance, and remember, legendary weapons offer a massive stat boost that makes them well worth the effort to craft.
Recent stat rebalancing has introduced diminishing returns (DR), especially around Magical Power. Once you approach the 200-230 range, adding more offers significantly less benefit, which is why it's often smarter to start diversifying your stats beyond that point. Focus on balancing your build by introducing Crit Chance or Max Health as needed, depending on how much survivability you want.
A quick note on rarity, while higher rarity armor gives incremental gains, the real power comes from your weapons and jewelry. That's why I recommend settling for Uncommon quality on most armor and reserving your resources and crafting effort for a top-tier Legendary weapon and jewelry. It's a big investment, but the payoff can be well worth it.
Lastly, don't feel like you're doing something wrong if your build doesn't perfectly follow the meta. Just because you don't see your playstyle reflected in top-tier guides doesn't mean it's bad. Play what you love. Experiment. Tweak. I'm just one guy offering suggestions, take what helps, toss what doesn't, and make the build your own.

Enchanting and Is It Worth It?
At this stage of the Alpha, I can't in good conscience recommend investing heavily into enchanting your gear. The stat gains you get from enchantments are minimal, so minimal, in fact, that they often don't justify the effort or the gold required. The cost ramps up quickly with each tier, and the payoff just isn't there in terms of power scaling.
Now, if you've already done most of what the test currently offers and you're sitting on a comfortable pile of gold and materials, sure, have at it. There's something undeniably fun about chasing high rolls and maxing out a piece just for the flex. I get the appeal of the gamba.
But for the average player looking to level efficiently and get stronger without burning through resources, enchanting simply isn't necessary right now. Focus on solid gear choices, stat optimization, and save the enchanting grind for when the system has more meaningful impact.
